Mountain shrine in a peacful place

The shrine offers a beautiful view and is located in the nature. It has a very quiet and peaceful surrounding. Unlike many other shrines, this place is rarely visited which makes the visit worthwhile.

    Peaceful surroundings Hikosan Shrine.

Hikosan Shrine is well worth the visit. The day i was there was a winter midweek day. Not many other people around, that made it even more special.

One of the three major ascetic practices in Japan

    Original Text

It is a shrine that enshrines Amenoshihomimi, the son of Amaterasu, and is located on Mt. Hiko, which has been called Hikosan since ancient times in "Mt. Hikoko" and is designated as an important cultural property. It is counted as one of the three major training tests along with Kumano and Dewa, and it is said that it is a steep mountain, but you can easily worship with a slope car. I felt something mysterious from the feeling of abundant nature and secludedness.

It is also a small precinct of the shrine building

It was the third day of the New Year, but it wasn't crowded in front of the main shrine, so I was able to visit immediately. This Jingu is a venerable Jingu that enshrines the life of Tenno no Shinobumi, the son of Amaterasu Omikami and the father of Tenson Kiri, who descended from Tenson. It is also a sacred place for Shugendo. I wrote that the title is small, but in fact, when I climb the stone steps, there are more than 1000 steps, which is quite difficult. Also Ka ...

    Convenient slope car

    Original Text

It is Hidehikoyama Jingu Shrine, where Yamabushi gathered in the Edo period and formed a town of about 3,000 people. In the past, it used to be difficult to climb the stairs, but now there is a slope car and it is convenient. It costs 840 yen for a round trip and drives every 20 minutes. The stations and shops use old elementary schools. The autumn leaves season is a wonderful view.
