Shennong Altar

The Shennong Altar was built to commemorate the ancestor of the descendants of Yan and Huang, Emperor Yannong. As the southern gate of Shennongjia, it is also the first stop for most tourists to visit Shennongjia. The altar square is magnificent. The main building is a 21-meter-high and 35-meter-wide giant bull-headed human statue of Shennong. Shennong Yandi stands among the green mountains, with the earth as his body, his eyes slightly closed, as if thinking about the mysteries of the universe. The Attraction is divided into five parts: the main sacrificial area, the ancient botanical garden, the thousand-year-old ancient fir, the butterfly specimen museum, and the chime concert hall. The ground in the sacrificial area is a circular and square pattern representing heaven and earth. The five-colored stones on the "ground" represent gold, wood, water, fire, and earth in the Five Elements Theory. The entire Attraction is surrounded by green mountains and beautiful scenery.

There will be a bonfire party at the Shennong Altar at night, where local people will perform hunting, weddings, double flower stick dances and other programs. Local young men and women will sing love songs and express their love with shoes. Every year, many compatriots from Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan and overseas Chinese come here to trace their roots and worship Emperor Shennong.
