A work that deepens sado's memories
Original Text
A short distance from Sado Magistrate's Office. On the wall of the museum facing the street, there are monuments of print works owned by the museum. Toki, Taraibou, the sea where the setting sun sets, etc. Black and white works and a little color. Each piece has its own taste and deepens Sado's memories.
1984 This is a print-specialized museum opened in the year using the building of the former Aikawa Court. The building retains the remnants of the Meiji era and feels nostalgic. Mr. Shinichi Takahashi is a person who developed the Sado print movement on the island of prints. The works of an amateur artist living in Sado who participated in this movement and the work of Shinichi Takahashi are on display. I was impressed with many powerful and simple works.
Even though it was a consecutive holiday in May, there were no customers. The exhibits were attached with price tags. It seems that they sell amateur works. I didn't understand the work well. I strongly regretted going. I can't recommend it very much.
It has been established for 130 years this year using the site of the "Former Aikawa Summary Court". It is a building on the first floor of a wooden structure that retains the prosperity of Sado Kanayama and the surrounding area after the Meiji era, and is also a cultural property of Sado City. Public transportation is by bus. Close to the site of the magistrate's office. Admission fee: ¥ 400 Opening hours: 09:00 〜 17:00 Closed on Mondays

The brick wall on the bottom side of Kyomachi-dori is a historic site that looks great on Instagram, and it is almost always a scenery that appears in Sado's pamphlet. After the former court, it is now a museum that exhibits the works of printmakers who are active in Sado, but it is small and the way of exhibition is also an atmosphere as a museum. I don't feel like paying the entrance fee.
