SOOooo many visits!
Every time a new visitor to Staten Island asks me where to go I take them 2 minutes from my home and show them this astonishing view. Afterwards I am thier guide for life in SI. It is an amazing place...
A great stop, if understated. There's a visitor center but not a "full" visitor center - they have passport stamps, the Junior Ranger badges (but not the books) and some exhibits, including an exhibit...
Fine example of early post civil war fortress construction. It is part of the system built to protect NY Harbor. NPS is doing a fine job of keeping the place open. Also visit Castle Clinton in Manha...
We were there recently to see a play, which was held in the courtyard of the fort. Gorgeous views, nice sitting area, and the goats were around eating up the weeds. Fun!
