At the foot of the bridge over the Hirose River, there is a monument engraved with a woman in kimono who pulls a cherry blossom carving and a phrase of the Milky Way that spills when the cherry blossom carving is towed. The explanation board says that it symbolizes the town of raw silk, which was a major foundation for Maebashi development. You can see the remnants of the town of raw silk in various places in Maebashi.
