这处滩涂位于晋陕两省交界处的碛口古镇旁，这里河道开阔，河水平缓，枯水期有大片的滩涂，游客可以直接走进河道，与黄河近距离接触。
是游览碛口古镇的一个景点，是位于黄河二碛大同碛边上的河滩。黄河在这里河道突然变窄，河水立时奔腾咆哮起来，似有压垮一切的气势，让人顿时感到大自然的壮美。
碛口的景点都是免费的，麒麟滩也不例外！黄河岸边，各色各样的石头遍布河滩，颇有寻宝的感觉！站在河滩远眺黄河上游，平静如湖面，放眼黄河下游，波浪翻滚，气势滔天！
位于晋陕边界的碛口镇背依吕梁山，面对黄河，碛(音qi)的字面解释有几种，其中之一是浅水中的沙石，沙石浅滩。这里从地形上看黄河滚滚而来，在这里拐了一道弯，宽宽的河面到这里突然收窄，同时出现了一个礁石滩，称麒麟滩，丰水时，见不到礁石，只能见到黄河水在暗礁滩上冲撞出的水花，无法行船，麒麟滩有一向左的转弯，称湫水河，是黄河支流，与内地相通，黄河上载满货物的船只到此无法前行，只能在碛口这里卸货，转为陆路运输，从清代乾隆年间开始，此后的200多年里都是中国北方著名的商贸重镇，也是繁华的水陆码头，当时民间有“驮不尽的碛口，填不满的吴城”“栓起骡子跑碛口”之说，这里是水旱码头小都会，九曲黄河第一镇，也是联通内蒙、陕西、山西的重要交通要道。这里有古镇、古刹、古渡。
The beach is located on the Yellow River at the foot of Lijiashan Village in the ancient town of Lukou. It is a tidal flat on the bank of the Yellow River. It is also the intersection of the Qiushui River and the Yellow River. It is named because of the ancient legend of the Yusongzi. The scenery feels average, but this is a good place to shoot the sunset of the Yellow River.
