    2023年春もエドヒガンの巨木・古木は満開になりました

    2023年は各地で例年になく開花が早かったですが、神代桜も03月下旬に満開になりました。実相寺の花見コースは一方通行で設定されていて山門から巡るので神代桜は出口付近になるので最後に観賞することになります。訪問時の関東地方は雨模様でしたが峡北は晴れていて絶好の花見日和でした。樹齢2千年を超えていると言われているエドヒガンの古木は満開でした。

    かなり弱ってました

    日本三大桜の1つということで、見頃の時期に訪れましたが、肝心の神代桜は、いかにも老木といった状態で、人工的に補強がなされていましたが、かなり弱々しい感じになっていました。 神代桜があるお寺の境内には、他の桜の木々がたくさん植えてあるので、一帯の桜の見応えはありました。
