The Fan Museum

The Greenwich Fan Museum, located in two adjacent Grade II Georgia Townhouses, opened in 1991 and is the first and only museum in the world dedicated to protecting and displaying fans. The museum is operated by a charitable trust or has more than 4,000 fans but can only display a small portion of its collection by changing exhibitions three times a year.The current exhibition is called "Carnations with People"

The museum is beautiful, a beautiful 2-story Georgian building. We came here to watch the China special exhibition this time, the exhibition lasted until the end of December 2015, but there were other exhibits during the period - the fan was so exquisite. We were introduced to how the fan was made. The staff are also very friendly and highly recommend everyone to go to Orangery in the garden for afternoon tea. Even the flowers are fan-shaped and feel great.

Located in a renovated Georgian house, the Fan Museum permanently displays many exquisite fans and regularly replaces special displays on different themes upstairs. The small gift shop covers jewelry, books, accessories and so on. Unfortunately, the orange garden is not open.

Some of the Fan Museum collections date back to 1690, and some are more popular. Later, we ate a light little one in the orange garden. The walls were beautifully painted. We had to book in advance. We only received six visitors every Saturday.

Fan culture, it seems, is not unique to our country. It gathers all kinds of fans from all over the world. We have to admire the preservation technology of cultural relics. The earliest fans can be traced back to thousands of years ago, and they are still intact.

It is the only museum in the world dedicated to fans. There are 4,000 well-restored fans from around the world from the mid-18th century, and even the earliest can be traced back to the 11th century. It presents the exhibition on a theme every four months. Connecting the different buildings is a magnificent hand-painted painting overlooking the beautiful garden. It is very delicate.
