In New Zealand, the lake that perfectly maps the reflection of the lakeside mountains and forests is called the Mirror Lake. Matherson Lake is the most beautiful and famous Mirror Lake. When the wind is calm, under the blue sky and white clouds, the lake of Matherson Lake is like a natural mirror, flawlessly reflecting the two highest peaks of New Zealand ~ Mount Cook (3724 meters) and Mount Tasman (3,497 meters). The reflection of the Twin Peaks is the most representative landscape of New Zealand tourism. Matherson Lake, 6 kilometers from Fox Glacier Town, can be reached in 10 minutes by car. There are two ways to visit Matherson Lake: 1. Roaming around the lake. There are well-equipped, 4.4 kilometers long lake-round trails, which have 3 observation decks, around for about 1.5 hours a week. 2. Watch the reflection. 15 minutes walk from the entrance of the trail, it is the best place to watch the reflection of the Twin Peaks, the silver mirror-like lake, the snowy mountains, the dense forest~ together with the eye, the beautiful scenery is unforgettable.

World Natural Heritage Site, Matherson Lake on New Zealand's South Island (Lake Matheson) formed 14 thousand years ago, is the product of Fox glacier retreat. It is located in ancient forests, the lake here is pure and sweet. The lake is like a mirror, Perfectly reflected the snowy Cook Mountain (Aoraki Mt Cook). It is five kilometers away from Fox Glacier and is a paradise for photographers. It is not far from Joseph Franz Glacier. We drove from the glacier town to Wanaka in the morning, and went down to Matheson Lake in the middle. It rained the day before yesterday, the ground was a bit muddy, but the air was very fresh and quite comfortable. Because the time was limited, I had to hurry up and walk for a while. It took more than an hour and two hours to swim completely. The Matherson Lake was very calm and the reflection was beautiful. Unfortunately, it was a bit cloudy at the time, if the blue sky was more beautiful!

Located near the town of Fox Glacier, we went to New Zealand on the day we caught up with a hurricane. The Park was closed, but it opened the next day. The lake is not big. It circles 4.4 kilometers. Most of the time, it is on the forest trail. There are several points where you can see the lake, even the reflection of the snow mountain in the lake in the distance. It is very artistic. Free. The cafe at the entrance is also good.

It takes about an hour and a half to two hours to circle the lake. There are three viewing platforms. It takes sunny days to get Lake Matheson. Cloudy days are not particularly suitable. We happen to be cloudy and the pictures are not very good. The snow mountain in the distance was covered by clouds and mist, and nothing could be seen. The most famous mirror lake here is our reflection, which is not perfect because of the weather.
