Carmel Town | Just like a fairy tale world
Located on the winding slopes, surrounded by lush forests, overlooking the rugged coastline covered by cypress trees. This dreamy fairy-tale town 'settled' many art galleries, boutiques, historic inns, cafes and fairy-tale cottages.
Walking in this one-square-mile town, the scent of eucalyptus, pine and jasmine is everywhere, and the sound of waves hitting the rocks can be faintly heard. The residential streets seem to be hidden behind the trees, blending with the lush vegetation.
In 1900, James Franklin Devendorf and Frank Powers from San Francisco bought most of the land here, intending to establish a haven for intellectuals and independent individuals.
Soon they attracted many artists, writers and poets, such as Robert Lewis Stevenson, the author of 'Treasure Island', Jack London, etc.
Interesting things about the town
✨Bing Crosby (if you love old musicals, you definitely know him) hosted a winter golf pro-am (a competition between professional and amateur golfers) here, called 'Clam Bake'
🌟Clint Eastwood (my idol!!) served as the mayor of Carmel from 1986 to 1988. During his tenure, he added public toilets by the sea and lifted the ban on eating ice cream 🍦 in public places (there are so many strange bans in the US)
💫 The houses here still have no addresses, only names, and residents have to go to the post office to get their mail.

Backed by the hillside, facing the blue sea, fine white beach, large tree cover, flower decoration, art Carmel is more spacious than European exquisite towns. Bohemian style architecture, the place where artists gather, Zhang Daqian has also lived here, only more than 4,000 residents of the coastal town, life should not be too comfortable. Left-hand cliff, right-hand wave Pacific, August 2016 self-driving California Highway 1, in the famous 17 miles back to the town of Carmel for 2 days, the first overseas self-driving tour of the best memory.
An exquisite seaside literary town on the Monterey Peninsula, about two miles south of the famous tourist attraction on the west coast of the United States, 17 Mile, about two hours' drive from San Francisco. Carmel was built in the early twentieth century.
Carmel, a Bohemian town. It's said that a Hollywood movie star is famous here as mayor. The town is very artistic. Even the signs of gas stations are decorated with flowers and plants.
Carmel Town is one of the most important scenic spots on the long and short Highway 1. It can satisfy all your fantasies about California Town. Galleries, art shops, antique shops and family hotels are all over town, surrounded by flowers and blue sea and sky. After the tour, I picked up a few handicraft articles to go back, which was a worthwhile trip. But some souvenirs are Made in China. While visiting, I lamented the wide range of handicraft products in our country. Early-riser shops can run along Ocean Avenue, the main street, to the beach without opening their doors. Even strangers greet each other when they come. In addition, there are squirrels quietly crossing the road, old pine and cypress trees, and sandy white beaches waiting for you.
Although accommodation in the small town of Carmel will be slightly more expensive, but want to experience this leisure, literary and quiet town, I arranged a night's accommodation. Walking along the main road of the town to the beach is not long. On both sides are houses of different styles, with houses, shops and small hotels, decorated or stylish or natural or simple, quiet and elegant. In the evening, the lights were put on and it looked so noble and elegant. The hotel rooms in the town will be smaller. Our hotel this time is mainly a smaller bathroom, but the comfort is still very good.
