Small museum, not much info
I love local crafts but found this museum a bit of a let down. It had some beautiful pieces on display, but it otherwise didn’t have a lot of info. Even the “video” is basically just a bunch of pictur...
This small museum shows what can be done with bamboo. Its really beautifully done, with a lot of love for details. And its pretty amazing to see what "bamboo artists" did or do create from this plant.
This museum is really interesting, I learned a lot about the bamboo crafts. Do not hesitate to visit this place if you have time! The people working there are also very nice and welcoming!
Since Beppu's bamboo work is famous, I stopped by the Industrial Hall to see the exhibition of bamboo products. I was interested in petals hardened with bamboo products with acrylic. I was also impressed with the bamboo products using about 4 types of bamboo.
Many works by national treasure-class bamboo craftsmen are on display, and the history of bamboo craftsmen is also on display in an easy-to-understand manner. It seems that workshops are also held regularly in the space on the 2nd floor.
