Tuofengling Crater Lake
Tuofengling Crater Lake is a high-altitude crater lake in Aershan National Forest Park. The lake gets its name from the surrounding peaks, which resemble a crouching camel when viewed from a distance. It is a lake formed by water accumulating in a crater after a volcanic eruption, dating back approx. 300,000 years, with a water surface elevation of approx. 1,284 m. Viewed from above, the lake's outline resembles a human left foot. The water is crystal clear, and it is surrounded by dense forest. The volcanic landforms in this area are well-preserved, and you can see porous volcanic rocks along the hiking boardwalk. To see the full view of the lake, you need to climb the wooden boardwalk to the viewing platform at the summit to look down at the lake. On clear days, the lake reflects the drifting clouds and the surrounding mountains. In the fall, the colors of the surrounding forest change, contrasting with the deep blue lake water. Along the way, you can see forests and volcanic landforms, and once you reach the top, you can take in the full view of the lake nestled in the sea of forest.Zhalantun · >100km from downtown

Diaoqiao Park
The Suspension Bridge Park is located on Central North Road, Zhalantun City, under Hulunbuir City. The park is named after the suspension bridge in the park. The suspension bridge was built in 1905 and has a unique shape. After the Qingdong Railway (also known as the "Middle East Railway") was opened to traffic, there were only suspension bridges and derivative bridges in the park, which were places for the enjoyment of the Russian nobles at that time. After liberation, the suspension bridge park has been repaired year after year, and now it welcomes every tourist with its new look and beautiful scenery. The suspension bridge in Zhalantun consists of a suspension bridge and a truss bridge. The suspension bridge is also called a cable bridge. It is made of two huge iron cables suspended in the air. There are about 42 thin iron cables on it and wooden boards underneath. When pedestrians walk on the bridge, it feels like a boat moored on the water, swaying leisurely, and they feel like they are floating in the air and feeling relaxed and happy. Closely connected to the suspension bridge is an arch bridge "truss bridge" suspended by about 12 steel bars. When people sway on the bridge, the bridge body keeps shaking, which can last for more than ten minutes. The suspension bridge and the truss bridge have different shapes and styles, just like sister bridges. The two bridges are connected and collectively called "suspension bridges". The suspension bridge park currently has the Wanghu Pavilion, the Triangle Pavilion, the Huanxin Lake, the Moon-shaped Arch Bridge, the Nine-Curve Bridge, the Zoo, the Flower Area, the Kenshi Garden, the Morning Exercise Field and other landscapes. It is a comprehensive urban park integrating natural and cultural landscapes. The park is covered with green grass and rippling blue water. Walking among the green trees is a rare enjoyment in the city. It is a place for local citizens to relax and have fun, and it is also a local landmark.Zhalantun · 2.1km from downtown

Aershan National Forest Park
Aershan National Forest Park is hidden deep in the forested mountains of the southwestern Greater Khingan Range, known for its volcanic landforms, lakes, and forests. Ancient volcanic eruptions left behind a series of geological views here: craters filled with water to form lakes, lava-blocked river channels creating dammed lakes, vast stone beaches paved with black basalt, and deep canyons carved by fractured lava belts. The Halaha River meanders through the park, with over 80% of its area covered by forests dominated by Daurian larch and birch trees. Shitanglin is a highly recognizable stop: on the black lava beach with almost no soil, larch trees root into rock crevices, and moss and lichens cover the stone surface, like walking into a natural volcanic geological museum. Tuofengling Heavenly Lake requires climbing a flight of stairs along a boardwalk; reaching the summit allows you to overlook this crater lake with a water surface elevation of nearly 1300 m, its overall outline resembling a crouching camel. Arxan Heavenly Lake, on the other hand, has no visible rivers flowing in or out, and its water level shows no obvious fluctuations throughout the year. The Halaha River rushes through the chaotic rocks of Santan Gorge, connecting three deep pools: Woniu Pool, Hushi Pool, and Yuexin Pool. Azalea Lake is named for the Xing'an azaleas that bloom along its shores in mid-to-late May each year; if you catch it while the lingering snow has not yet melted, the red flowers against the white snow offer a unique scene. The Chai River originates in the Grand Canyon area within the park, where black volcanic rocks are scattered across the valley floor; the stream winds through them, and you can walk down the wooden boardwalk in the forest to take a closer look. Seasonally, from mid to late September, birch trees and larches gradually turn golden, creating the most vibrant colors in the attraction. In winter, the unfrozen section of the Halaha River remains ice-free, with frost-covered trees lining its banks and herds of cattle often drinking from the river at dawn. The attractions are distributed along a single road with driving distances between them, making self-drive or private charter tours more convenient. Both Tianchi Lake and Tuofengling Tianchi require climbing steps, so comfortable shoes are recommended. The forest area experiences significant temperature variations between morning and evening, so bringing a jacket is advisable even during summer and fall visits.China · Arxan

In Manzhouli, Labu Dalin, and Hailar, there are restaurants where you can eat mutton and barbecue, including authentic hand-baked meat, mutton, and fried mutton tails. There are also two Tianchi in Arshan, one is Arshan Tianchi and the other is Tuofengling Tianchi. Tuofengling Tianchi is named after the shape of the mountain peak which resembles a camel hump. It is a crater lake and the deepest and clearest among the Tianchi in Arshan.

It takes about 45 minutes to 1 hour to drive from Moon Town to Moon Lake. You can visit it when you pass by from Arshan to Chaihe.
We didn't go there on the first day because we wanted to catch a good light. We set out from Chaihe early the next morning and took pictures of the beautiful scenery on the road until noon.
The ticket price at the entrance is 100 yuan, and you will not participate in the half-price event of the autonomous region. You can drive in during the off-season, take the dirt road to the parking lot, and walk 30 minutes to the top of the mountain.

The Grand Canyon of Arshan is also a place worth visiting. Although it is located relatively far from the center, you will feel another kind of desolation of Arshan after walking around the Grand Canyon. However, there is a strong vitality here. Walking on the road, you will find black squirrels from time to time, and this squirrel is really big and smart.

The Mo'a Highway refers to the section of road from Mushroom Town in Zhalantun City to Arxan City in Xing'an League. It is a county road! It passes through Chaihe Town (also known as Moon Town) in the middle. The Mo'a Highway is a county road, a magical road, and the scenery along the way is the best in the world. It is about 280 kilometers from Mushroom to Arxan No. 59 Inn. This is a good road to walk in a dream or a painting! Passing through the entire Arxan Forest Park, passing through the Moon Tianchi and Chaihe Moon Town, there are golden rapeseed fields along the way, as well as colorful Greater Khingan Mountains forests, winding mountain trails, and narrow rural roads.

The building of the China Eastern Railway Museum was formerly the former site of the Russian Forest Police Brigade, built in 1909. The entire building presents a simple and natural feature. It is one of the most distinctive museums in Hulunbuir City and the only museum in the country with the China Eastern Railway as its background.

This is the hometown of the legendary red-crowned cranes. It is also the place where there is a famous song about a girl who died for the red-crowned cranes. It is not very beautiful, but it is still very beautiful to come here to watch the cranes. You can watch the cranes dancing from a distance and touch them up close. The crane release performance is especially beautiful, with hundreds of cranes flying over you.

Several months have passed, and now I'm in Xinjiang. I've visited some more scenic spots, but when I think back to the Morigele Grassland in Hulunbuir, the winding, meandering river, the different viewpoints, the smooth scenic roads, and the scenery along the way are all unforgettable!

The Morigele River, described by Lao She as the "Number One Meandering River Under Heaven," is well worth a visit. It's divided into a south route and a north route. The south route is in better condition but requires taking a sightseeing bus. The third stop offers the best scenery, especially on a clear day. The Morigele River resembles a blue ribbon, winding its way across the vast grassland—it's truly beautiful.
