The Butchart Gardens

4.4/5
280 reviews
The Butchart Gardens is a world-renowned garden that has been family-operated for over a century. In the early 20th century, the Butcharts quarried limestone and established a cement plant here. After the quarry was abandoned, Mrs. Butchart, who had a passion for gardening, decided to transform the quarry into a Sunken Garden. Subsequent generations continued to manage and expand the site, eventually forming the current layout, which connects the Sunken Garden, Rose Garden, Japanese Garden, Italian Garden, and Mediterranean Garden. Well-manicured lawns and paths connect these 5 major gardens. The Sunken Garden, transformed from the former quarry, is the signature attraction of the entire site. The valley floor, surrounded by rock walls, is filled with geometric flower beds. You can overlook the entire view from the viewing platform. Nearby, the Ross Fountain was built by the Butcharts' grandchildren to celebrate the garden's 60th anniversary, featuring water jets that soar into the air and change patterns.Brentwood Bay · 16.8km from Victoria

Victoria’s Inner Harbour

4.3/5
65 reviews
Victoria’s Inner Harbour is a waterfront living room that opens the entire city to the bay. During the day, it feels more like an open-air stage, with street performers often entertaining on the waterfront promenade, colorful water taxis shuttling between docks, seaplanes frequently taking off and landing just above the water, and most whale-watching tours departing from this harbor. You can take a water taxi to nearby docks to see houseboats and seals, or take a ride in a British-style sightseeing carriage for a leisurely loop around the harbor. Whether you want to admire the architecture, wait for the night view, or just relax in the sea breeze, there is something for everyone here. It is also a window into the British charm of Victoria.Victoria · 877m from downtown

Legislative Assembly of British Columbia is both the seat of the British Columbia legislature and a popular landmark. Designed by architect Francis Rattenbury, construction began in 1893 and was completed in 1897. The gray andesite facade, stretching over 100m, combined with the central dome and pavilions at both ends, presents a grand style that blends Neo-Baroque and Romanesque Revival architecture; atop the dome stands a golden statue of the navigator George Vancouver, which, along with the bronze statue of Queen Victoria on the lawn in front, creates a classic photo opportunity for visitors.Victoria · 1.1km from downtown

Victoria's Chinatown is Canada's early Chinatown, which took shape as early as 1858. There are many Chinese in Canada, and almost every big city has a well-established Chinatown. However, Victoria's Chinatown has an unforgettable charm. This charm comes from its vicissitudes of life. A long time ago, overseas Chinese who made their fortunes by repairing railways flocked here to open shops. For a time, Victoria's Chinatown was full of people and bustling. Later, with the rapid development of Vancouver, many Chinese immigrants moved to Vancouver and left their old Victorian houses. The number of Chinese people has plummeted, and the scenery of Chinatown is no longer there. Today, many shops have changed owners. Only the archway with "Tongji Gate" written on it tells the tourists that this place was once the place where the Chinese struggled, and the place where the Chinese once worked together. Testimony of a foreign country struggling to survive.Victoria · 138m from downtown

Victoria's Fisherman's Wharf, westbound along Belleville St in front of the Parliament Buildings. There are different styles of houseboats around Fisherman's Wharf. You can taste fine wine and seafood, and you can also take a boat to watch whales and go fishing at sea. There are many people selling gadgets and citizens performing performance art on the pier. The life here is very leisurely and freehand.Victoria · 1.5km from downtown

The Scottish entrepreneur Robert Dunsmuir, who got rich from coal mines, is the owner of Quedaloo Castle. The mansion he built with huge sums of money took 3 years to build and was completed in 1890. The internal structure was transported by train from the United States. More than 2,000 pieces of very good oak materials are carefully crafted with luxurious stained glass to create a magnificent room. The castle is well-equipped with 39 rooms, including a dance room for children to learn dance. Climb up the stairs and climb to the top tower, and you will come to the place where you can see the city of Victoria. The Juan Feca Strait in the distance has a beautiful scenery, and Victoria is full of vitality against the backdrop of the sea and flowers.Victoria · 1.8km from downtown

The 565-acre building is quaint and well-preserved, and walking into Harry's Castle feels like stepping back in time. As far as the eye can see, there are finely crafted ceilings, ornate decorative curtain walls, and huge oak beams and columns. Just imagine how many celebrities, business elites and royal aristocrats used to gather and chat in front of the black marble fireplace in the living room.Colwood · 7.9km from Victoria

It takes about an hour to take a ferry south from Vancouver to the holiday paradise - Vancouver Island. The climate here is warmer and humid than Vancouver. Compared with the fast-paced and more leisurely pace of Vancouver's international metropolis, it is very suitable for weekends to come here. Enjoy the lazy life and relax.Canada · Comox-Strathcona D
