Dalian Laohutan Ocean Park

Dalian Laohutan Ocean Park is located on the southern coast of Dalian, nestled between mountains and sea with a winding shoreline. This marine-themed park primarily showcases ocean animals and performances while offering coastal scenery. Its five venues each have highlights: the polar zone houses beluga whales, polar bears and penguins in simulated polar environments, with beluga and dolphin shows as main attractions; the happy theater features humorous sea lion and walrus performances that delight both adults and children; the marine mammal pavilion, shaped like a pirate ship, hosts playful seals and sea lions; while the coral aquarium displays colorful reef creatures and dreamlike jellyfish to recreate an underwater world. If you want to visit the bird forest to see birds, you can take the cross-sea aerial cableway to overlook the scenery of tiger beach bay and the southern coast from above, then arrive at this large semi-natural artificial birdcage. Blue peacocks, red-crowned cranes, egrets, parrots, and other birds freely engage in activities among the trees. Strolling through it feels like walking into a valley bird park, where you can occasionally come face-to-face with the birds up close. The park also features sea sightseeing boats, a 4D theater, a root carving art museum, and amusement facilities like the family-friendly Jurassic happy island. The tiger sculpture group is also a popular photo spot. When tired, you can relax on the beach, feel the sea breeze and watch seagulls circling overhead. A small reminder: animal shows at each venue have limited time slots. Check the daily schedule upon entry to plan your visit order and avoid missing desired performances.

National Maritime Museum of China

Located on the coast of the Bohai Sea in Tianjin's Binhai New Area, the National Maritime Museum of China is a comprehensive maritime museum integrating collection, exhibition, research, and education, and is known as the "Forbidden City on the sea." The white, streamlined main building stretches out along the coast, resembling a giant ship docked at the shore when viewed from afar. The sea outside the museum is vast and open, and the building itself is a photo spot worth stopping for. The museum's exhibits revolve around the theme of "oceans and humanity," with six major zones and more than a dozen exhibition halls, each with its own highlights. In the "Oceans Today" hall, a whale shark specimen over 9 m long is astonishing in scale, a giant squid plastination specimen stretches out its slender tentacles, and together with a rare pregnant shark specimen and thousands of marine life specimens, the diversity of ocean life is presented with striking visual impact; "Ancient Oceans" starts from the birth of the Earth, with trilobite and ichthyosaur fossils linking the evolutionary thread of hundreds of millions of years; "The Age of Dragons" recreates the sea, land, and air scenes of the Mesozoic era, and the ichthyosaur and pterosaur fossils and dinosaur models are especially popular with children; "Chinese Maritime Civilization" and "From Sails to Star Wheels" trace humanity's journey from ancient navigation to modern scientific research. The "Oceans and Astronomy" hall with its starry dome and the experience hall where visitors can intuitively feel the power of marine disasters are also among the museum's most popular exhibits. The museum has a very high content density, and a thorough visit takes more than half a day. It is recommended to arrange your route from the first floor upward, viewing ancient fossils first and then modern marine life, so that those interested in paleontology, marine life, and maritime history can each find what they need.

Hetou Old Street
No. 1 of Night Attractions in Hebei

Hetou Old Street

4.7/5

Hetou Old Street is located on both banks of the Tangjin Canal in Fengnan District, Tangshan, covering an area of nearly 2,000 mu. It derives its name from the "river head" where the Coal River and Tangjin Canal converge. In the late Qing Dynasty, coal from the Kaiping Coal Mine was loaded onto ships in Xugezhuang and transported along the newly excavated Coal River to Tianjin for export. The starting point of the canal thus became a bustling water and land port. According to county records, at that time, "merchant ships and passenger vessels were as dense as a forest, and Western-style buildings and flower gardens were too numerous to take in at a glance." Today, the old street has been transformed from the long-dormant antique-style block "Canal Tangren Street." With Tang Dynasty culture as its theme and the canal as its foundation, it has formed a layout of "one river, one lake, two streets, and three islands," serving as an immersive nighttime attraction showcasing the grand Tang Dynasty's performing arts on water. Nighttime is the highlight of the old street: the "Tang"-inscribed lampposts and lantern-lit sky streets along the kilometer-long canal gradually light up, while painted boats glide across the water. The nearly 100-meter-high "Tangshan light" Ferris wheel offers a panoramic night view. NPCs dressed in Tang-style costumes roam the streets, where you can recite poetry with "Li Bai," answer scholarly exam questions from the "zhuangyuan," or win "silver notes" in mini-games like idiom chains and rock-paper-scissors to redeem snacks and cultural products. The lantern-lighting ceremony, water dance show, live performance of "Emperor Tang's eastern expedition," and iron-flower fireworks along the parade route from Tang King Square to Prosperity Pier amplify the Tang dynasty atmosphere as the night deepens. The daytime is perfect for thorough exploration: the large vats at the entrance of the Tai'er merchant banquet floating market correspond to the twenty-four solar terms, recreating the bustling commercial atmosphere of the traveling "Tai'er merchant" trade group. In the east bank art district, old courtyards relocated and replicated from Jiangxi, Anhui, Shanxi and other regions are interspersed with handmade shops, making the silk tree area ideal for photos. Wangzhen square's hitching posts, the Tangshan dialect square themed on local slang, the koi pond, and the old car & persimmon market blending vintage vehicles with persimmon trees each offer unique sights. The old street primarily focuses on nightlife, so it's recommended to enter in the evening. With cool riverside breezes and long walking sections at night, remember to bring a light jacket and wear comfortable shoes. Families with children can check out the indoor Tang Little Lord castle amusement park, while travelers who love hanfu may consider wearing Tang-style attire for more atmospheric photos.

The Chengde Mountain Resort in Hebei Province is worth a full day of exploring. The resort is quite large, with shuttle buses and boat tours available, though you'll need to pay extra to choose your own routes. I really enjoy strolling around like this.

I came here because of its reputation, and the environment is indeed very nice. It's quite close to the beach and has parking. There are many European-style buildings inside, some are restaurants, some are creative shops, some are photography studios, and there are also banks, theaters, art galleries, etc. If you just want to see the scenery, a stroll around would take one or two hours, depending heavily on the weather; good sunshine makes for great photos. The creative shops are also worth browsing. It's a very relaxing place, but I didn't have time to visit anything else. Judging from the overall design, the night view should be amazing. If you want to take a small boat, just let them know in advance, otherwise the driver won't point out the camera location, and the photos won't be good.

If we're talking about the most famous attraction in Changli County, Qinhuangdao, Hebei Province, it has to be the Aranya Community. Originally a real estate development project intended as a community, it has now transformed into a popular tourist destination. This is because the unique atmosphere created by the cultural heritage and neighborly relations within the Aranya Community makes both residents and visitors feel comfortable. Due to the success of the Aranya project, it's now undoubtedly Changli's must-visit spot for social media check-ins, and it's definitely worth a visit.

I went during the National Day holiday this year, and there were definitely more activities and more people than when I went in winter. It wasn't as deserted as I expected. I'll definitely go when it's more crowded next time, it'll be so lively! Haha.

Amazing experience with lots of shows, games, food and shopping. The vibe at night is breath-taking. The place is huge and every corner has something to look at. The NPC have fun interactive games and speeches. There’s a lot of singers and dancers. There’s so many kinds of street food and restaurants. The ticket was easy to purchase and use at the entrance. This place is definitely worth the trip.

To be honest, this thing is a mixed bag. Those who are interested will find it interesting, and those who are not will really dislike it. Those who are interested will learn about its history and understand its characteristics, while those who are not interested will only see a city gate and nothing more.

It's unreasonable that there's no free luggage storage. For autumn break in Shenyang, Tianjin is a good destination, not far away. The aircraft carrier was very impressive. Worth seeing. Definitely hire a guide.

The park has a large parking lot and covers a considerable area. Just inside the entrance is the animal area, and after passing through, you reach the beach. The sand is fine and the coastline is quite long. The scenery is beautiful, and children could easily spend half a day there.
