Kochi Castle is a Japanese castle located in Kochi City, Kochi Prefecture. Built as a *hirayama-jō* (a castle situated on a hill rising from a plain), it is a nationally designated historic site. Its *tenshukaku* (main keep) is one of only twelve in Japan that remain well-preserved. The castle was originally constructed by Yamauchi Kazutoyo in the early 17th century. Although a fire in 1727 destroyed almost the entire complex—including the main keep—it was rebuilt by 1753 to match its original form and remains largely intact today, some 250 years later. Kochi Castle is one of the few remaining castles in Japan with a main keep that dates back to the pre-Edo period. It is unique nationwide for retaining all the structures of the *Honmaru* (inner bailey)—including the *Honmaru Goten* (palace), the main keep, and the *Kurogane-mon* (Iron Gate)—making it a site of immense historical value. From the four-tiered, five-story main keep, visitors can enjoy panoramic views stretching from the Kochi Plain to the Pacific Ocean, while the interiors of the *Honmaru Goten* and the main keep house exhibits featuring materials related to the castle and artifacts belonging to the Yamauchi clan, the castle's former lords. In addition to the main keep and the *Honmaru* structures, fifteen other buildings—such as the *Ote-mon* (main gate) and *Tsume-mon* (connecting gate)—have been designated as Important Cultural Properties. The surrounding area has been developed into Kochi Park, which features statues of Yamauchi Kazutoyo and his wife, as well as the Prefectural Museum of Literature, which showcases writers associated with Kochi Prefecture. An admission fee is required to enter the *Honmaru Goten* and the main keep.Kochi City · 128m from downtown

Zhulin Temple is located in Wutai Mountain, Kochi City. It is a temple of the Zhishan School of Shingon Sect. The deity is Manjushri Bodhisattva. The environment inside the temple is simple and quiet, and you can always meet the worshippers who are "traversing the road" in Shikoku at any time. The main hall of Bamboo Forest Temple was built in 1644 by the second generation Tosa Daimyo, Yamauchi Tadashi. There is also a 5-story pagoda and thousands of statues of Jizo Bodhisattva in the spacious grounds, which are the guardians of children and travelers. god.Kochi City · 4.5km from downtown

Katsurahama is one of Kochi Prefecture's most iconic scenic spots. It has been revered as a moon-viewing spot since ancient times, and the lyrics of the Kochi Prefecture folk song "Yasukoi Matsuri" even describe the moonlight. Katsurahama Park is located along the coast, and within the park are shops and facilities like the Katsurahama Aquarium, so it's recommended to focus your visit there.Kochi City · 8km from downtown

Although it is not a particularly well-known botanical garden, the scenery in the botanical garden is also very beautiful. There are various plants and the air is very fresh. The transportation here is very convenient. It feels very happy to walk around here!

I heard about the movie The Harimaya Bridge only when I got here. I made up for it. It has nothing to do with bridges... I was impressed by the one in Takaoka Saki~ This bridge itself is a small road bridge in the center of Kochi City, with its own subway station. Its shape can be seen everywhere in Japan, very ordinary, and it is a new one renovated in the Heisei era. It is also listed as one of the three most disappointing attractions in Japan. The Sapporo Clock Tower, which is also one of the three most disappointing attractions, is much better than this one. It is said that the sign on the store next to it says "Sorry to disappoint you"...

【Scenery】I took a walk in Sagano early in the morning. I walked through the bamboo forest filled with many bamboos in front of the Tenryuji compound, and then went to Nonomiya Shrine. The green of the "carpet moss" of Nonomiya Shrine is also very beautiful.

You can enjoy fresh melons and watermelons all year round, regardless of the season. Within the facility, various flowers bloom throughout the seasons, and you can also see rare tropical fruits. From January to the end of May, you can enjoy strawberry picking. The freshly picked strawberries you pick yourself are incredibly fresh and delicious.

The 4-kilometer-long gentle beach on the coast, the waves and the shells, driftwood, and small creatures on the beach are all works of art in themselves. It is a natural beach art gallery and a surfing paradise. During the Golden Week every year, a T-shirt art exhibition is held, with thousands of designs floating on the beach, which is spectacular.
