Things to do in Kaiping

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ An amazing day trip to Udo Island's eastern coast! Today we visited Udo Island, Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak, and Woljeongri. The itinerary was perfectly paced, allowing ample time to explore and take photos at each attraction. A special shout-out to our driver, Dong-ge! He was witty and humorous, creating a relaxed atmosphere throughout the trip. His driving was steady and reliable, making us feel very safe. He also thoughtfully provided us with water and snacks, and even helped us buy cute little souvenirs. The attention to detail was remarkable, and there was absolutely no pressure to spend money. The experience was fantastic! Choosing him for your Jeju Island trip is a sure bet!

The arcade buildings lining both sides of the Tanjiang River blend Nanyang and Lingnan styles, offering a tranquil escape with the evening breeze, rowing boats, and old stories—a truly healing experience for any leisurely stroll. The old town holds the remnants of Guangzhou Bay's past, with its weathered arcade buildings, bustling street food stalls, and vibrant atmosphere. Wandering through the old streets is a delightful experience, brimming with the warmth of everyday life and a retro ambiance.

This place is highly recommended! It is the only UNESCO World Heritage Site in Gunangdon Province of China. The historic building complex is intriguing, and it is embedded in the deep history of Chinese working overseas during the time of civil unrest and invasion by western powers and by Japan. Those Chinese workers brought back money for their family members in China, to build all these buildings. It is a worthwhile visit to see the buildings and the history behind!

I highly recommend it. I won't even mention the Kaiping Diaolou (watchtowers), but Chikan really left a deep impression on me. You absolutely must see the fire show; it's breathtaking. Don't rush off afterward, there's still a live performance – it's incredibly exciting!

Majianglong village is a hidden gem. While other sites like Zili Village can feel touristy, Majianglong offers a refreshingly quiet and authentic atmosphere. The real charm is in the slow pace. You can wander along peaceful, shaded paths, past watchtowers and Western-style villas. It’s a poetic and serene place—perfect for enjoying the vibe at your own leisure.

I think the value for money in Jinjiangli is average. Although there are beautiful watchtowers, the open space is limited and there are only two that can be climbed. The Ruishi Tower that attracted me here is closed and cannot be entered, which became the biggest regret of this trip.

The scenic area is large, the food is reasonably priced, the environment is clean, and the night view is beautiful.

The Ocean Parade was lively and adorable, and the kids didn't want to leave. The park's paths were wide and not crowded. The Rainforest Restaurant was easy to find, the service was friendly, and we finished eating just in time for the next show – the timing was perfect.

Chimelong Safari Park truly lives up to its reputation as a popular destination for family trips. It boasts a rich variety of animals, all in excellent condition, and unlike typical caged zoos, the experience is very close to a wild safari. The two free must-try attractions are the mini-train and the aerial cable car. The mini-train traverses free-range grasslands, with giraffes and zebras right beside you; the transparent cable car offers a unique panoramic view of the entire park. Must-see attractions include the panda triplets, the koala enclosure, and the white tiger diving show. You can also feed the giraffes for a fee, providing a highly interactive experience and perfect for taking photos.
