I was at work, and my mom and her friends really wanted to go to Huangshan and visit Hongcun as well. So, I found a day tour package on Ctrip that was highly recommended by netizens. It included entrance tickets to both Hongcun and Xidi, transportation between the two places, a guided tour, and the cost of headsets. I compared many packages, and most of them used megaphones for the guides, and the groups were quite large, resulting in a poor experience. This small group tour, although advertised as a 30-person group, ended up with only about 16 people, so my mom and her friends could hear the explanations very clearly with their headsets. Although it rained a little in mid-May, it quickly cleared up, allowing us to appreciate the misty, dreamlike atmosphere of the Hui-style architecture and enjoy a beautiful sunset after the rain.

We visited in November on a weekday. Lesser crowd and the weather was perfect, sunny between 10°C & 15°C. Our tour came with a guide who got us the tickets and planned the hiking routes, covering every "tourist-must-see" parts of the mountain. The buffet lunch recommended by the guide at ¥98/pax up on the mountains is a really good deal too. Huangshan is NO JOKE. The 8km up and down the steps lasted for almost 6 hours, excluding the one-way 20mins shuttle bus ride & one-way 10mins cable car ride. At the end of the tour our legs were not cooperative anymore. Besides the breathtaking views, it was also heartbreaking to see elderly potters carrying approximately 180 catties (about 108kg!) of goods up and down the mountains. They are literally breaking their backs 😭! Some even stopped and asked passers-by for water / food. Would forming a bucket brigade or a human chain be workable?

I just finished my trip to Huangshan yesterday, and the scenery there truly needs no introduction—the uniquely shaped pines, the strangely shaped rocks, the sea of clouds—every step felt like walking through a painting, and every snapshot was wallpaper-worthy! The weather wasn't great in the morning, with swirling mists, but the sky cleared up after noon! Although the climb was tiring, the breathtaking views from each perspective made it all worthwhile! But what touched me most about this trip was our tour guide, Jiang Lin. From start to finish, she accompanied us the entire time, providing detailed and engaging explanations, captivating us with Huangshan's cultural anecdotes, and attending to the needs of every member of our group. She constantly reminded everyone to watch their step while climbing, helping us adjust our pace; the entire itinerary was perfectly balanced, allowing us to see all the highlights without feeling rushed! You could feel her genuine passion; her smile was always warm! Because of her professionalism, this trip to Huangshan was so fulfilling and unforgettable! Thank you, Huangshan, and thank you, Tour Guide Jiang, for this wonderful encounter!

Booking was convenient, the attractions were fantastic, and the photos turned out great. In particular, our tour guide, Mr. Wang, provided excellent service—patient, meticulous, and incredibly warm and attentive. He added a lot to the trip.
