Reviews: Marino Ballena National Park: Watching Whales and Dolphins

It's February 24th, 3 adults, 3 children aged 6, 4, and 1, and it's not the best time to go whale watching, but I'm taking my chances. Honestly, it was a fantastic time. The staff is amazing, attentive to all requests (and with 3 little ones, there were quite a few), very welcoming, and they anticipate what shyness can sometimes delay a request. They are there out of passion, and if they can do something, they do it. We were able to do all the activities: whale watching, dolphin watching, the secret beach, caves, snorkeling, and in the end, a 4-hour trip instead of the planned 3 hours. It's worth noting, and this is important, that the social distancing guidelines for whale watching are respected, which isn't the case elsewhere. Some companies we saw, well yes, they make for better photos, but those jerks almost hit the whale and its mother, so choose this respectful company over others. My children thank you, it was truly incredible.

Excellent. We were able to see a mom and her baby. We were mid-March, so we were lucky--it was the end of session and sightings had been only every few days.

We received a warm welcome right away. Coffee, cake, and cold drinks were offered. We were lucky that our group consisted of only eight people. We were given instructions and then drove our car right up to the park entrance – parking was included. From there, we walked a short distance and boarded the boat. Less than ten minutes later, we saw a whole pod of dolphins. Unfortunately, we didn't see any whales. Fresh fruit was served on the boat, and after the tour, we strolled through the park and saw a sloth and a family of capuchin monkeys. It was a wonderful day for us.

Loved love loved this trip. The trip was supposed to be 3 hours I think we looked at animals for 5 hours 😅 It was so nice and so many animals you couldn't stop. I probably saw 35 animals in one day 🙈🙃 absolutely crazy🥰🥰 Jennifer was so beautiful and funny and was completely sad it all stopped when the trip ended. Will never forget this trip and Costa Rica 🥰

The instructors Joanna and Osi were super kind! From the office, they took us with their car to the beach, because we had none. The boat ride was very fun, and at the island, we got into the water very quick - and saw a great variety of colorful fishes, 2 species of ses turtles, a shark and stingrays. The stay at the second spot after having melon & pineapple was a bit short, but still very enriching. The food afterwards was very nice & for us, they made an vegetarian option aswell! Thanks a lot, can recommend! :)
