Private tours are a great option for first-timers, offering private transportation and a tour guide, plus two days of free time to explore the hotel pool, enjoy the sun, sand, and sea... However, the itinerary at both ends is exhausting, especially the return day. I had to get up at 6 am to pack and check out, then leave for the airport at 7 am to catch my 10 am flight. I had a 6-hour layover in Singapore, but thankfully the duty-free shops there had cheaper cosmetics than in Phuket, so I could browse. I arrived in Beijing after midnight, and getting a taxi at Beijing airport was incredibly difficult; I waited for over an hour, finally getting home close to 4 am. I barely slept a few hours before having to get up for work. Therefore, I recommend resting for a day before returning to work.★

Overall, it was pretty good, both the hotels and the restaurants, though the prices reflected that. Regarding the hotels, the first night's was the best, but the one at Sun Moon Lake wasn't great; despite being advertised as a five-star hotel, it had bars on the doors and windows. The worst was the one in Taipei, which was very cramped, similar to an old state-run guesthouse in mainland China. The itinerary was rather rushed, covering many places in a hurry, but many local specialties weren't explained well. The local Taiwanese tour guide was lazy, basically just talking on the bus. The food at Sun Moon Lake was terrible, but the rest of the time was okay. The most unsatisfactory aspects were the tour guide and the itinerary; a lot of time was wasted on the little train. We arrived in Kaohsiung in the evening and then explored on our own. The next day, the tour guide took us to see the rubber ducks and an art district, but the art district was empty, and an hour was wasted. Hopefully, the attractions and itinerary can be improved. We arrived in Hualien at night and went to Qixingtan the next morning, spending two hours looking at the Pacific Ocean before heading to the train station…
