This is my second purchase. Installation via Ctrip was very quick; even with minor friction, it wouldn't start, but a restart fixed it. Once in Japan, it worked perfectly after disabling airplane mode, no settings required, and I encountered no problems. I've been to Osaka, Nara, Kyoto, Hirashima, Tokyo. Arima Onsen had 5G everywhere, and in some places, except for Arima Onsen, there was excellent 4G. Excellent esim.
