The excursion, culminating at the top of a pyramid to watch the sunset, was sublime! The small number of people, unlike at Tikal, made the visit more intimate and special. A huge thank you to Saúl for making it so fun and for introducing us to his tarantula friend! Incidentally, you also have the option of visiting a small island with some ruins for 75 quetzales per person: cool, but not essential.

We met at the Maya Walk building in San Ignacio at 6:45am then took a very nice shuttle to the border and were walked across to our guide Christian and driver Walter. They were fantastic! Because it was a very small group (just my friend and myself as it was a weekday in what they call the slow season) they asked if we had breakfast yet. We hadn’t so they said they would stop at the best along the way. They called ahead and had a table all set for us. The traditional Guatemalan breakfast was delicious (not covered by the tour but 100% worth it if they say they have time)! We got to Tikal and Christian did an awesome job answering countless questions and explaining the history! He also gave multiple times for us to explore the different areas on our own as well and did not rush us. We left and had lunch at a beautiful spot on the way back which was very tasty! We made it back to San Ignacio around 4:15pm without a glitch. Would totally recommend this company and these guides!

If you are looking for the best experience in Tikal I recommend you go with Elmer. He’s very knowledgeable answered all our questions (he knows much about astronomy! Ask he might tell your future lol ). They’re very passionate about their job, it is a local tour company which supports the local economy. 10/10 experience You will not get disappointed.

Our tour guide Roel Contreras was very knowledgeable and kind. He answered all our questions. He was patient, and kept remaining us to be careful when walking because the road was very slippery due to the rain. It was a memorable experience!

Thank you to Gelver and Fidias for a terrific private sunrise tour of Tikal! As guide and driver they were excellent - incredibly knowledgable about the archeological site, the Maya, flora and fauna. The tour began before we even left our hotel driveway with an explanation of the constellations and how they impacted the placement of the site's buildings. Gelver's English was terrific for the non- Spanish speakers in our family. Getting to Temple IV well before sunrise gave us an amazing view of the stars before most tourists arrived. After sunrise we had a full tour of the rest of the site - really terrific and fascinating. Cannot recommend these folks highly enough!


