I booked an excursion on *** with Tours Naturaleza Bacalar in Costa Maya, Mexico, on November 28, 2025. The tour company guide greeted us then left us at the pick up location for an hour. By the time she returned it was too late for our excursion and we were left stranded. Octavio from Costa Maya Experiences took pity on us and let us ride with his group to see the ruins even though we were not his customers. They were extremely friendly, gracious, and knowledgeable, and saved what started as a disastrous day. Thank you for your generosity and compassion!

Our ship doctor late so we didn’t get to do our full excursion but the tour guide refunded our money and made sure that we had a great experience overall we did get to do some things, but we didn’t get to do everything but he was very polite and made sure that he showed us as much fun and as much as the island as possible

I was honestly a little nervous booking a tour off the ship for the first time — Royal Caribbean offered a similar excursion, but at a much higher price. I decided to take a chance with Toucan Tours, and I’m so glad I did because it ended up being one of the best decisions of our trip. Once we checked in, we loaded into a comfortable minivan that took us out to the Chacchoben archaeological site. Everything was smooth, organized, and easy to follow from the very start. Our guide, Juan Carlos, was fantastic. He shared so much insight about Mayan culture and history, but in a way that felt engaging and approachable — never overwhelming. He even taught us how to write numbers in the Mayan language, which ended up being such a fun and unexpected highlight. The team provided plenty of cold bottled water, kept the pace relaxed, and gave us time to take photos and explore the site without ever feeling rushed. I felt safe, well taken care of, and genuinely able to enjoy the experience. This tour exceeded my expectations and made the whole day unforgettable. I would absolutely recommend Toucan Tours to anyone visiting the area — especially if you're considering alternatives to the cruise-line excursions. I’ll put my full experience on YouTube. Totally worth it.

We thoroughly enjoyed this excursion! Juan Corona was our knowledgeable friendly professional and VERY HELPFUL guide! Juan gave us a totally unique Mayan ruins experience with his knowledge of the Mayan culture and ruins.He was so enthusiastic and answered ALL our inquiries. He didn’t skip a beat from the first moment we meet til our driver Tino drove us back to our ship. Tino was also a great teammate! His driving skills were excellent, cautious and timely getting us back in plenty of time for our ship departure from Costa Maya. Tino also gave us a refreshing cup of fresh local fruits to enjoy on our trip back. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY and especially Juan Corona, our guide and Tino, our driver! They were beyond GREAT! PS I have an electric wheelchair. Juan and Tino both handled the chair with great care. If you have an ELECTRIC wheelchair call the company for additional information and advise.


