Since I was on a tour with Chinese people, communication was difficult. The guide spoke so fast that I could barely understand anything. We had to eat at designated restaurants, and the prices were on the expensive side. Since you have to take the train directly from Shanghai, I recommend going independently rather than on a tour. Perhaps because I had high expectations for Suzhou, it wasn't much different from Suzhou, and I think Suzhou was better.

Punctual and great one day itinerary for covering most all attractions in Suzhou. It is long but totally worth it to do these many attractions in one day if you don't have the time to split it in more days. The tour and guide was all in Chinese, no English so use technology to help you during the site visits. Usually the option to rent English audio guides at most tourist sites - always ask at the entrance.
