Rajadamnern Muay Thai Stadium

8.1
4.8/5
1.5k reviews
Rajadamnern Muay Thai Stadium is a highly prestigious professional Muay Thai venue in Bangkok, regarded alongside Lumpinee Stadium as one of Thailand's two main modern Muay Thai arenas. The stadium began construction in 1941 but was halted due to material shortages during World War II, resuming after the war and hosting its first match only by the end of 1945. Initially an open-air venue without a roof, it was fitted with a concrete roof in 1951 and has undergone multiple renovations and upgrades since. Today, it stands as a modern enclosed stadium, embodying a condensed history of Thailand's professional Muay Thai. The gym hosts frequent matches year-round. On fight days, professional fighters from across Thailand compete here for the gym's own rankings and championship titles. Unlike performance-oriented bouts for travelers, these are real fights that count toward professional records: fighters wear mongkon headbands and perform ritual dances to traditional music before the match—the elaborate wai khru ceremony is worth arriving early to witness. During fights, every sweep kick and knee strike lands with full force in high-intensity clashes, so be mentally prepared. Each seating area offers a distinct experience—ringside seats provide close-up action, while the upper stands are packed with local veteran fans who roar with every powerful hit, creating waves of cheers that let you experience Muay Thai in its rawest form.Bangkok · 4.1km from downtown

SEA LIFE Bangkok Ocean World

8.3k reviews
SEA LIFE Bangkok Ocean World brings a large aquarium into the two basement floors of Siam Paragon mall in downtown Bangkok, making it a highly popular family-friendly indoor attraction. Over a dozen themed exhibition areas guide visitors from tropical rainforests to the deep sea, with hundreds of marine species inhabiting the space, including large sharks measuring nearly 4 m in length. The underwater tunnel is the highlight of the aquarium, offering a 270-degree curved view where sharks, rays and schools of fish glide slowly overhead and alongside visitors. The shark walkway is a glass floor suspended above the shark tank, allowing guests to look down and see sharks swimming beneath their feet. The penguin snow park is home to a group of gentoo penguins, and through the underwater viewing window, visitors can watch them "fly" through the water, while African penguins can also be spotted in another rocky coastal area. The Asian small-clawed otters in the tropical rainforest zone are lively and playful, often drawing crowds. The jellyfish exhibit becomes particularly dreamy under changing lights, while the seahorse kingdom and green sea turtle zone invite a slower pace for closer observation. The coral reef area features schools of clownfish darting about, and the rock pool, where visitors can touch intertidal creatures like starfish, is especially popular with children. The aquarium offers scheduled feeding guides for penguins, otters, sharks and rays daily. We recommend checking the day's time slots upon arrival to plan your visit accordingly. The coral reef zone offers an optional glass-bottom boat experience - watch keepers hand-feed fish and sharks glide beneath the boat for a unique perspective. Fully air-conditioned indoors, it's ideal in any weather. A two-hour visit allows comfortable exploration, though families with children may want to allocate more time. △ Here you can observe tropical rainforest creatures such as Asian small-clawed otters, hook ants, and green crested lizards. △ Come and see our adorable Papuan penguinsBangkok · 2.3km from downtown

Chao Phraya River

7.9
4.5/5
5.4k reviews
The Chao Phraya River is the customary name used by the Chinese community for the river known in Thai as "Chao Phraya." The term "Chao Phraya" originates from Thai, literally meaning "mother of waters," while its Thai name is often translated as "river of kings," both reflecting the river's significance in Thailand. It originates in the northern mountains of Thailand, flows south through the central plains, passes the ancient capital of Ayutthaya, and runs through the heart of Bangkok before emptying into the Gulf of Thailand. Including its upstream tributaries, it stretches over 1,000 km. Bangkok grew alongside this river, once crisscrossed by waterways and dubbed the "Venice of the East." Even today, the Chao Phraya River remains a vital waterway for local transportation and daily life. Taking a cruise is a classic way to explore the river. By day, the water bustles with public ferries, cargo boats, and crossings, resembling a watery highway for Bangkok residents, while traditional floating markets have mostly relocated to tributaries. Along the river, historic landmarks like the Grand Palace, Wat Pho, and Wat Arun glide past, juxtaposed with modern malls like ICONSIAM across the water. A short ferry ride from Tha Tian Pier leads to Wat Arun on the opposite bank. At night, the river transforms as lights illuminate both shores, with Wat Arun's porcelain-clad spires shimmering softly. Sightseeing and dinner cruises set sail, offering a distinctly different atmosphere from the land-based experience. If timing allows, an evening cruise lets you witness both the sunset and the city lights, capturing two faces of the river in one trip. △Sparkling Chao Phraya River △Enchanting night view at Chao Phraya RiverBangkok · 4.8km from downtown

Welcome to Asiatique's SkyFlyer. The sky flyer is a giant high-altitude swing at Asiatique, the riverside night market along the Chao Phraya River in Bangkok. Its tower stands approx. 135 m tall, equivalent to over thirty stories, and is easily recognizable from the riverside area. Its official name, "Wings of Garudapterus," is inspired by pterosaur fossils discovered by Thai paleontologists. The mechanical arms take design cues from pterosaur wings, belonging to the same series as the Jurassic-themed experience zone in the night market, allowing riders to glide over the river like a pterosaur. The experience begins when you take your seat: over twenty open-air seats rise, rotate, and swing with mechanical arms, with height and swing speed increasing simultaneously. Cool breezes brush past as you look down at the cruise, docks, and skyline along the Chao Phraya River, offering a 360-degree view of Bangkok. The daytime provides clear vistas, while after sunset, the city lights unfold. The tower's LED lights change colors with the music, creating a striking sight from the river. The facility offers different speed settings, including gentler modes, allowing even less adventurous travelers to give it a try. A few details worth knowing in advance: Board around sunset to enjoy daytime views, dusk, and the first lights of the evening in one ride; evenings and weekends tend to be busier, so allow extra time for queues; phones are not allowed during the ride, but you can rent action cameras on-site to capture aerial footage, and lockers are available for personal items; high-altitude winds are strong, so travel light and avoid loose accessories; height requirements apply for children, with some height ranges requiring adult supervision, while those with acrophobia or motion sensitivity should assess their comfort level. After the ride, explore the shops, restaurants, and dinosaur-themed installations at the night market to pack your evening with activities.Bangkok · 3.6km from downtown

Siam Old City 🏯 is definitely a hidden gem of a cultural and historical site near Bangkok, well worth a special trip! The entire area is enormous 🌳, with expansive views and lush greenery. It perfectly replicates classic Thai architecture, royal palaces, distinctive temples, and historical sites from ancient times to the present, condensing iconic landmarks from all over Thailand into one place. The architectural craftsmanship is exquisite and the retro atmosphere is simply divine 📸! Every corner is a photo opportunity, perfect for stunning shots. I highly recommend renting a golf cart and driving yourself 🚙! The area is huge, and walking the entire way is simply impractical, tiring, and time-consuming, especially during holidays when it's incredibly crowded and the experience is terrible. Hiring a car is incredibly comfortable, flexible, and allows you to stop and take photos at your favorite spots without rushing, maximizing your comfort! I highly recommend setting aside half a day to a full day to leisurely explore ✨! We rented a car throughout, taking our time to explore and take photos at each attraction, enjoying a relaxed pace. The total visit lasted exactly four hours, resulting in a truly perfect experience. The park focuses on ancient architecture and cultural exploration, offering an immersive experience of Thailand's diverse architectural styles and rich history. It's especially suitable for tourists who enjoy photography, appreciate cultural landscapes, and want a deeper understanding of Thai culture. The park is tranquil and soothing, with stunning scenery. The only minor drawback is the limited number of interactive rides, making it more suitable for leisurely sightseeing than those seeking thrills. The park boasts excellent facilities, a clean and tidy environment, and attentive staff service. For those who don't have time to visit all the historical sites in Thailand, this is an incredibly cost-effective way to see all the classic sights in one trip. Overall, it offers exceptional value and is definitely worth including in your Bangkok itinerary!

The Chao Phraya River night cruise with its buffet dinner was a perfect experience! ✨ The boarding process was smooth, the ship was spacious, and the staff were warm and polite. The buffet offered a wide variety of dishes, including Thai cuisine, seafood, hot dishes, desserts, and fruits—all fresh and delicious. Enjoying the meal while the boat cruised along the river, we took photos of Wat Arun and the dazzling night view of Iconsima 🌃. The evening breeze was lovely, and the deck was perfect for taking pictures. There was also live music performance, creating a fantastic atmosphere. Overall, a great experience. The ticket included the buffet, making it excellent value for money. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Bangkok, especially for groups of friends.

Bangkok Skyflyers at Asiatique is a fun attraction for anyone who wants to see Bangkok from above without taking a traditional observation deck. The ride offers beautiful panoramic views of the Chao Phraya River, the city skyline, and Asiatique, especially around sunset and after dark when everything is illuminated. The nearby Better World Better Future 4D Immersive Exhibition adds an interactive experience with impressive visual effects, making it a great place for families, couples, and photographers. I recommend arriving before sunset so you can enjoy both daylight and the city's night lights in one visit.

The view is extraordinary. Seeing Bangkok from that height is sublime. However, the food and drinks have a massive markup. 240 Baht for a can Chang beer? Kind of a ripoff if you ask me. Nevertheless, good experience, but this is something only worth doing once off.
