Awana SkyWay (Formerly known as Genting Highlands Premium Outlets Cable Car)

4.7/5
2k reviews
Awana SkyWay (Formerly known as Genting Highlands Premium Outlets Cable Car) is the main aerial route to and from the mountaintop resort area in Genting Highlands, Malaysia. Departing from Awana Central Station on the mountainside, it takes approximately 10 minutes to reach Genting Highlands Station at the summit, climbing over 600 m during the journey. The cable car spans the entire valley, offering views of the pristine tropical rainforest below, said to be over 100 million years old. As the cabins ascend slowly along the mountain ridge, mist often drifts through the sea of trees. On clear days, you can see the layered mountain ranges in the distance, and the temperature at the summit is noticeably cooler than at the base. The cabins come in two types: standard cabins, which are shared with other travelers and have higher capacity, and glass-bottom cabins. Among the over 100 cabins in operation, only about 10 feature transparent floors, allowing direct views of the rainforest and deep valleys below. Those seeking this "floating" experience should plan ahead. The route also includes a stop at Chin Swee Temple Station, where travelers can disembark with the same ticket to visit the hillside Chin Swee Temple and Ten Thousand Buddhas Pagoda before reboarding to continue the uphill ride—a highlight many travelers miss. The summit station connects directly to the SkyAvenue mall, with attractions like Genting SkyWorlds Theme Park just steps away. Mountain weather is unpredictable, so for clearer views of the expansive landscape, mornings are usually the best time to ride. • Take the Awana SkyWay (Formerly known as Genting Highlands Premium Outlets Cable Car) to enjoy the picturesque view of Genting Highlands and the breathtaking 360° panorama. • Overlook the 130-million-year-old tropical rainforest. • Feel the cool mountain air and enjoy an experience like flying high in the sky. △ Admire the 130-million-year-old tropical rainforest below, with breathtaking views in sight. △ Enjoy an extraordinary journey in the sky.Genting Highlands · 28.4km from Kuala Lumpur

Batu Caves is a cave temple complex formed by limestone hills and is one of the most famous Hindu pilgrimage sites outside of India. This karst cave complex contains over 20 known caves, with the larger Temple Cave housing the Hindu deity of war, Murugan. It is also the central venue for Malaysia's Thaipusam festival, which attracts a large number of Hindu devotees for pilgrimage every year. At the foot of the hill stands a gilded statue of Murugan, approximately 42.7 m high and entirely gold-plated, serving as an iconic landmark of the scenic area. Next to the statue is a colorful rainbow staircase, requiring a climb of 272 steps to reach the cave entrance. Flocks of pigeons often gather on both sides of the stairs, and the plaza is dotted with multiple Hindu statues and colorful decorations. After entering the Temple Cave, walking deep along the towering cave walls, sunlight pours in from natural openings in the cave ceiling, illuminating the rock walls and Hindu shrines, with exquisite statues of Hindu deities distributed throughout the cave. The Cave Villa complex at the foot of the hill consists of the Art Gallery Cave and Museum Cave, displaying statues and murals based on Hindu mythology. To the left of the main staircase is the Ramayana Cave - Suyambu Lingam, with a tall statue of Hanuman standing at the entrance, and murals inside the cave depicting classic scenes from the Indian epic "Ramayana." Stalactites, stalagmites, and other karst geological features can be seen on the cave walls, and the caves are also home to various bats and other cave-dwelling creatures. A rock climbing route has been opened on the northeast side of the hill, attracting many rock climbing enthusiasts to take on the challenge.Batu Caves · 9.4km from Kuala Lumpur

Putra Mosque is also known as the "Floating Mosque" because about three-quarters of the building extends over Putrajaya Lake. The exterior is predominantly pink, constructed largely from rose-colored granite, and features nine domes. Construction began in 1997, and it can accommodate over 10,000 worshippers at once, making it one of the most recognizable landmarks in Putrajaya. The mosque consists mainly of three parts: the prayer hall, the courtyard, and the learning and functional spaces. The roof of the prayer hall resembles an open umbrella, composed of 49 domes of varying sizes arranged in a radial pattern, with a design inspired by Islamic architectural traditions. The minaret next to the mosque is tall and slender, with a rocket-shaped spire, and is equipped with elevators and stairs to reach the top. The entire mosque is designed to take full advantage of natural ventilation from the lake, with lake breezes passing through the corridors and vertical grilles to keep the interior cool. Viewed from the opposite shore, the pink domes and their reflection in the lake create a picturesque scene.Putrajaya · 24.8km from Kuala Lumpur

Visiting the Petronas Towers requires advance booking. You'll queue on the first floor to take the elevator together, but it's not crowded and the experience is quite pleasant. You can reach two floors: first, the area connecting the two towers on the 40+ floor, where staff will leave at a set time; then, take the elevator directly to the 86th floor.

Genting Highlands was a lot of fun! It wasn't too crowded, and the queues never took more than 20 minutes. The rides were fantastic, similar to Universal Studios and Disneyland, and the value for money was amazing. I definitely want to come back!

Went there on a Saturday night. It was quite packed and busy, and the traffic was pretty bad, so the journey took about 2 hours and 31 minutes instead of the expected 2 hours. Despite the delay, we really enjoyed the bus trip. It was a relaxing way to explore Kuala Lumpur and take in the surrounding sights along the way. Overall, a pleasant experience, especially for enjoying the city views.

Genting Highlands is really popular among locals. It is packed with people every weekend and holiday. There are several hotels all over Genting Highlands, including three-star, four-star and five-star hotels. Moreover, the hotel group is very generous and provides free rooms (but certain conditions must be met). This "free" strategy can also attract tourists to come and consume frequently.

Definitely worth the experience and achievement of climbing the stairs. Monkeys are intimidating and although I had no food, one jumped onto my backpack while I was climbing the stairs. Nature inside the cave is lovely.

Kuala Lumpur Tower Review (98 words) From the Kuala Lumpur Tower observation deck, you can overlook the entire city, with the Petronas Twin Towers, TRX Tower, and National Theatre all visible – a fantastic vantage point. Unfortunately, the haze was heavy today, obscuring the distant views and significantly diminishing the experience. The SkyBox, a suspended glass structure, is quite challenging and suitable for photography enthusiasts. Overall, it's more of a city skyline photo opportunity; a visit to the tower is relatively short, and it's a convenient stop if you're passing by, not worth a special trip.

The Pink Mosque in Malaysia 🕌, as its name suggests, is entirely pink. The inner courtyard is very large, and it's said to be a popular place for worshippers. There are several great spots for taking photos and checking in. 📸
