La Vieille Charité is a former almshouse, now functioning as a museum and cultural centre, situated in the heart of the old Panier quarter of Marseille in the south of France. Constructed between 1671 and 1749 in the Baroque style to the designs of the architect Pierre Puget, it comprises four ranges of arcaded galleries in three storeys surrounding a space with a central chapel surmounted by an ovoid dome.

Besides its name, the history of this house is a curiosity in itself. Located just behind the City Hall, the Maison Diamantée (Diamond House) owes its name to its facade of pointed stones.
It was built between the end of the 16th and the beginning of the 17th century (perhaps 1570 but there is still some doubt). This makes it one of the oldest houses in Marseille with the Hôtel Cabre. It was built on the demand of wealthy Italian and Spanish traders. With its architectural beauty and style inspired by the Medici Italy, it has long housed the famous Marseilles families such as the Saboulin.
