Our group of four joined the tour in mid-January. Mr. Yu, a local resident of Chagan Lake, served as our driver and guide, leading us through a wonderful day. The itinerary was packed; besides watching the winter fishing, Mr. Yu also took us to several popular tourist spots. As we wished, the car was driven onto the ice and parked in a safe area about 100 meters from the fishing spot. Despite the freezing weather, we could easily return to the car to warm up and recharge. The winter fishing location changes daily, and only local guides know the exact location for each day's fishing. Chagan Lake's winter fishing tradition has continued for thousands of years and is a national intangible cultural heritage. The winter fishing was the perfect ending to our Northeast China trip.Trip.com Picks
