Oia

Oia is located on the northern cape of Santorini, built along the cliffs, with white-walled, blue-domed houses and churches layered along the inner cliffs of the caldera. Sunset is the most iconic view here. Each evening, visitors follow the main path to the town's western end. The west end has two main free viewing spots: one is a seaside platform beside the castle ruins, where the remaining stone tower walls hang on the cliff edge, offering expansive views, and the other is a small square below the windmills, where several traditional windmills are silhouetted against the sunset. You can also book a cliffside restaurant in advance and dine while watching the sun sink below the horizon. The town is also worth exploring slowly during the day. Walking the cliff path through narrow white alleys, you will pass several blue-domed churches, and the three connected blue-domed churches make the classic postcard scene. A few old windmills stand at the town's northern end, another iconic view. At night, shops along the stone alleys mostly stay open late, and bars gradually become lively. If you have time, choose a seafront cave house for a night, and when you open the window you will see the sea toward the caldera.Santorini · 62.1km from Amorgos

Three Bells of Firais one of Santorini, Greece's most iconic landmarks, attracting many visitors. The whitewashed walls, vivid blue dome, and the deep blue Aegean Sea complement each other, creating a highly recognizable Mediterranean scene. Its clean architectural lines blend with the vast sea and sky, showcasing the pure beauty of traditional Greek architecture and conveying the island's calm and romantic atmosphere. This church is located along the cliffside path between Fira and Firostefani, right at the edge of the caldera. The church is small in scale, but its delicate form and unique location make it especially eye-catching. The white buildings are terraced into the hillside, and the blue dome looks especially bright in the sunlight. The adjacent bell tower and the layered whitewashed houses together form an elegant composition. Below the church are steep cliffs, and beyond them lies the deep caldera bay. The unique topography gives the site unforgettable visual depth.Fira · 61.9km from Amorgos

Corinth Canalis a unique view that blends human engineering with natural terrain. The canal cuts through the hard rock of the isthmus, directly connecting the Saronic Gulf on the Aegean Sea side with the Gulf of Corinth on the Ionian Sea side, allowing ships to cross this narrow strip of land without having to sail around the Peloponnese peninsula. The canal is approx. 6 km long, the waterway is at sea level with no locks, showcasing the ingenuity of its construction and adding a breathtaking sight to the coastal landscape of Greece. The canal cuts deep into the ground from the surface, forming a narrow and straight gorge, with limestone cliffs on both sides rising nearly vertically, tens of meters above the water.Greece · Loutraki-Perachora

Red beach is located on the southwestern tip of Santorini, Greece, adjacent to the Akrotiri Archaeological Site. Unlike the common black volcanic beaches in Santorini, this beach is famous for its rust-red cliffs, deep red gravel, and clear, turquoise water. The striking color contrast makes it a classic scene in many travelers' photos. This beach is hidden in a small bay, backed by undulating volcanic rock cliffs that display various shades of rust red, dark red, and brownish red. The sand and stones underfoot are deep in color, while the water in the distance transitions from light turquoise to deep blue. The red cliffs and the blue sea complement each other, creating a strong and unique visual effect. Standing near the bay and looking out, it feels as if you are in a natural painting created by the volcano and the ocean.Santorini · 70.2km from Amorgos

There is no wide coastal boulevard here, but rather a row of ancient mansions clinging to the sea. Colorful walls, white exteriors, wooden galleries, and seaside balconies together form a unique coastal view. Red, blue, and ochre window frames dot the pristine white walls, while wooden balconies hang over the sea, swaying gently in the sea breeze and exuding a leisurely and romantic atmosphere. As evening falls in Santorini, tourists have already found their vantage points, sitting or standing quietly, waiting. The once bustling paths gradually empty out, the crowds converging on the cliff edge, becoming the first fixed scene before sunset. Standing on the steps of the blue and white houses, watching the sunset transform the sky from orange-pink to golden-red, then slowly into a golden hue, the town itself seems draped in a golden veil, so beautiful it makes you forget everything. Finally, the entire sunset glow sinks into the Aegean Sea, even the surface is covered with shimmering gold, the wind carries the light scent of sea salt and olive trees, there is no noise, only the sound of the waves lapping the shore, slowing down along with the light and shadow.

If Santorini is a business card of Greece, then the blue-domed church should be the business card of Santorini, because at some point it was on the cover of National Geographic Magazine, and thus became a globally known attraction. What’s more coincidental is that this attraction is so simple and straightforward that it’s almost otherworldly. You don’t need high-level photography skills or think about angles. Just the “click” at the entrance is the undisputed best of the day.

There is also a cliff hotel view, but the view is worse than that of Oia town. There are many small shops and a strong commercial atmosphere. The roads are very narrow. If you encounter cruise ship passengers, you have to queue when walking.

We stopped in Zakynthos on our drive to Athens. The narrow, man-made canal, with its towering, steep cliffs, is visually stunning. Standing on the bridge, the cliffs appear nearly 100 meters high – truly breathtaking. We arrived late, so we missed the daytime blue-green waters, but the warm, dusky lights illuminating the banks and the long, narrow canal stretching into the distance created a captivating atmosphere. We were still awestruck by the magnificent sight. No need to take a special detour; a short stop off the highway is perfect for sightseeing and definitely worth stopping for.

The red of nature differs from the imagined vibrant red, but the red from this volcanic eruption is still breathtaking. The journey from the parking lot to the red beach is a bit challenging, about a 10-minute hike up a mountain path or where there's no path at all. Those who enjoy a challenge will appreciate it, marveling at the wonders of nature. I'm grateful for my taxi driver's patient service; as a local, he could tell many local stories, and his price was reasonable. At my request, we even stopped along the way to photograph the grapevine basket—a unique way of wintering grapevines in Santorini. You can contact him if you need a ride.

I didn't expect there is such a place in the city center. The transportation here is also very easy. It is really beautiful here, completely different from the hustle and bustle downstairs. I really like the scenery here, which is very Greek in style.
