• Explore one of the world's most important architectural heritage sites • Uncover the history as you walk amongst amazing ruins • See the imposing columns of the Parthenon – the most imitated building in the world △The Acropolis is located southwest of the center of Athens, perched on the top of the Acropolis hill more than 150 meters high. It is a landmark of the city and a symbol of ancient Greece. The Acropolis was built in 580 BC. Acropolis means "high city-state" in Greek. The east, south and north sides of the hill are cliffs, which can be said to be a natural barrier. △[Temple of Erechtheion] Legend has it that it was the place where Athena and Poseidon, the god of the sea, battled wits over being the protector of Athens. This temple is famous for its six caryatids on the south side. △On the top of the Acropolis, there are ruins and cliffs, and you can feel every trace of history.Greece · Athens

Acropolis Museum

4.6/5

The overall scale and form of the Acropolis Museum are largely determined by its own exhibits, particularly its rich collection of architectural sculptures, including large pediments from archaic temples, votive statues, and the diverse sculptural decorations of the Parthenon. To display these sculptures, the museum designed a rectangular gallery of at least 3,200 square meters, whose shape and proportions echo those of the ancient temple itself. On the other hand, the museum's foundation had to be carefully modified to accommodate the ancient architectural remains unearthed through systematic excavations of the building site. Close collaboration between architects and archaeologists ultimately led to a suitable solution, determining the final positions of the museum's foundation pillars without damaging the surrounding artifacts. The ongoing archaeological excavations were conceived as a large-scale exhibition and integrated into the museum. Additionally, a plan was developed to display the most significant unearthed artifacts within the archaeological site. The museum's architectural design boldly employs highly transparent glass curtain walls, aiming to establish direct visual connections between the exhibits, the rock itself, and the Acropolis ruins where the museum's artifacts originated. At the same time, it allows visitors to enjoy panoramic views of Attica's historic hills and mountains, as well as the contemporary urban environment. Similarly, the glass floors inside the museum integrate the archaeological excavation areas below into the exhibition halls. In this way, the museum avoids being disconnected from its surroundings and instead becomes an extension of the environment, reinforcing its intrinsic connection with the ancient Athens view. The museum exhibition areas are divided by terrain and theme. The first floor features large exhibition halls with ramps equipped with glass floors, replicating the slope of the Acropolis hill and displaying archaeological artifacts unearthed here. Ascending to the second floor, visitors are greeted by high ceilings and skylights, where artifacts related to the Athens Acropolis are showcased. The western exhibition area displays sculptures from the Temple of Athena Nike and the Erechtheion, as well as architectural components of the Propylaea. The second-floor hall is dedicated to the sculptures of the Parthenon. Returning to the north wing of the second floor, visitors find the final exhibition space, featuring artworks from the 5th century BC to the end of the classical period.Greece · Athens

Oia is located on the northern cape of Santorini, built along the cliffs, with white-walled, blue-domed houses and churches layered along the inner cliffs of the caldera. Sunset is the most iconic view here. Each evening, visitors follow the main path to the town's western end. The west end has two main free viewing spots: one is a seaside platform beside the castle ruins, where the remaining stone tower walls hang on the cliff edge, offering expansive views, and the other is a small square below the windmills, where several traditional windmills are silhouetted against the sunset. You can also book a cliffside restaurant in advance and dine while watching the sun sink below the horizon. The town is also worth exploring slowly during the day. Walking the cliff path through narrow white alleys, you will pass several blue-domed churches, and the three connected blue-domed churches make the classic postcard scene. A few old windmills stand at the town's northern end, another iconic view. At night, shops along the stone alleys mostly stay open late, and bars gradually become lively. If you have time, choose a seafront cave house for a night, and when you open the window you will see the sea toward the caldera.Greece · Santorini

They are named after the Delphi people who lived there. Founded in the 7th century BC, it was considered the center of the world in ancient Greece, the religious center and a symbol of unity in ancient Greece. Delphi is the more important temple in all the Greek places, because this temple is dedicated to the sun god Apollo, the god of knowledge, light, music and medicine in the ancient Greek beliefs. There are also an open-air theater and a holy road in the ruins area. On both sides of the holy road, there are gift vaults, altars, monuments, colonnades, etc. built by the Greek states to worship the gods. Navagio Beach Viewpointis located on the northwest coast of Zakynthos, Greece, and is a classic spot for enjoying a panoramic view of Navagio. With its open view and elevated position, you can take in the entire outline of the bay, the white pebble beach, the rusted shipwreck, and the rich, layered shades of blue water. Looking down from near the viewpoint, the bay is surrounded on three sides by nearly vertical white limestone cliffs. The massive cliffs rise from the coast, showcasing a rugged and spectacular landscape. Below the cliffs, a white pebble beach stretches along the bay, and the shipwreck, stranded for years, rests quietly on the shore. The rusted hull creates a striking contrast with the surrounding pristine natural scenery. The charm of the viewpoint also lies in the changing light and shadows throughout the day. On clear days, the sunlight makes the colors of the water even more vibrant, and the white cliffs and blue sea create a strong contrast, making it perfect for taking classic panoramic photos.Greece · Elation

As evening falls in Santorini, tourists have already found their vantage points, sitting or standing quietly, waiting. The once bustling paths gradually empty out, the crowds converging on the cliff edge, becoming the first fixed scene before sunset. Standing on the steps of the blue and white houses, watching the sunset transform the sky from orange-pink to golden-red, then slowly into a golden hue, the town itself seems draped in a golden veil, so beautiful it makes you forget everything. Finally, the entire sunset glow sinks into the Aegean Sea, even the surface is covered with shimmering gold, the wind carries the light scent of sea salt and olive trees, there is no noise, only the sound of the waves lapping the shore, slowing down along with the light and shadow.

This was taken on the Acropolis: Temple of Victory (Figure 3), Parthenon (Figure 5. Still under renovation), Erechtheion (Figures 4 and 5), Dionysus Theatre, Atticus Theatre. The guided tour I bought a day in advance was very good. We set off at 5pm, just as the sun was about to set. It was not hot at all, and there were not many tourists. The tour guide was a historian, and the content he introduced along the way was very detailed. Including the story behind the construction of the Acropolis Museum, the trees on the Acropolis Hill, the Acropolis has experienced several disasters and historical changes, Athens' efforts in the field of international recovery of cultural relics (to the British Museum), the story of Dionysus, the god of medicine, the goddess of war, the goddess of wisdom, and the three main gods Poseidon. Another surprise is that there are so many cats in the Acropolis! They are the only guests who can enter and exit the temple at will. The staff will regularly put cat food for the stray cats.

It was cheaper to purchase the tickets at the location, it also came with free audio tours. If you need Chinese I am sure this app offered it but if English or another European language was okay it was better to do it in the museum. Upside museum itself was wonderful and pre bought tickets shipped the line!

We stopped in Zakynthos on our drive to Athens. The narrow, man-made canal, with its towering, steep cliffs, is visually stunning. Standing on the bridge, the cliffs appear nearly 100 meters high – truly breathtaking. We arrived late, so we missed the daytime blue-green waters, but the warm, dusky lights illuminating the banks and the long, narrow canal stretching into the distance created a captivating atmosphere. We were still awestruck by the magnificent sight. No need to take a special detour; a short stop off the highway is perfect for sightseeing and definitely worth stopping for.

If Santorini is a business card of Greece, then the blue-domed church should be the business card of Santorini, because at some point it was on the cover of National Geographic Magazine, and thus became a globally known attraction. What’s more coincidental is that this attraction is so simple and straightforward that it’s almost otherworldly. You don’t need high-level photography skills or think about angles. Just the “click” at the entrance is the undisputed best of the day.
