户部山的建筑包括项王的戏马台，官绅富户的大院，城市中产阶层的四合院以及普通百姓的大杂院。其中，李蟠状元府、崔焘翰林府、郑家大院、余家大院、翟家大院和号称徐州第一楼的李家大楼等最为有名，且相对保存完整。尚有保存完好的明清房屋400余间，民国房屋700余间，较为完整的院落20余处。这些院落古房负载着徐州城几千年的风雨沧桑，是明、清、民国时代徐州政治、经济、文化的缩影，更重要的是它们是古城徐州最后的遗存。　沧海桑田，历史演变，形成了户部山2000多年的文化积淀，300多年的商业经历，户部山成为徐州科举文化、帝王文化、商业文化、军事文化、建筑文化、地方文化、民俗文化的荟集地。户部山上官宦云集、会馆林立成为过去，但车水马龙、人流熙熙，一派繁华景象延续至今。
