The Grand Plaza de Milan (Duomo's square), built in 1386 by the first Duke of Milan, was built in a Gothic architectural style, with a bronze statue of Victor Emmanuel II, the first king of the Italian kingdom. It was built in 1778 and is now a museum of contemporary art.
