2024 Venice Travel Guide: Must-see attractions, popular food, hotels, transportation routes (updated in December)
Venice is a uniquely beautiful canal city. Located in northeastern Italy, the whole city lies on the water. Water is Venice's soul. The beautiful structures of the city are all reflected in the water, as though all of Venice is afloat and drifting calmly. The Grand Canal is the “road” that passes through the whole city of Venice. Take a gondola and experience the water city's unique style. Don’t forget to try Venice's unique Spaghetti al Nero di Seppia (pasta with squid ink) and buy an exquisite hand-made mask before you go. Venice's wonders are not limited to the city’s center. On the azure waters of the Venetian Lagoon, there are many wonderful outlying islands that have to be seen, such as Burano, Murano and the Lido di Venezia.

Venice: A Dreamy Journey Through the Romantic Water City.
Venice is a city full of magic, captivating with every step. From the moment I set foot in Venice, I was enchanted by the charm of this water city. Riding a gondola, leisurely gliding through the canals, the buildings and bridges on either side reflect on the water, creating a stunning picture.
St. Mark's Square is the heart of Venice, with the magnificent St. Mark's Basilica and Campanile leaving visitors in awe. We climbed the Campanile to overlook the breathtaking view of the entire Venice. The cafes in the square offer authentic Italian coffee, making it a delightful place to rest.
Strolling through the narrow alleys, every turn brings new surprises. Various exquisite craft shops, fashionable boutiques, and aromatic restaurants make it hard to leave. We tasted local specialties like squid ink risotto, seafood platters, and fresh pasta, all of which were delicious and unforgettable.
The short trip to Venice left me longing for more. This city, with its unique water scenery and rich historical culture, has captured my heart. This journey will forever remain in my memory as a beautiful experience.

Venice, the sinking island 🏝️
#traveldiaries #100waysoftravel #facts #water #sunset #romance
My partner and I visited Venice for one day trip and that was the best spontaneous decision we could have ever made. Originally we were visiting only Verona and had to fly back in the morning, instead we decided to amend our flight for the evening and had enough time to spend on this lovely, romantic island.
The views, scenery everything is as you can imagine! Stunning, beautiful and breathtaking. However, the prices ridiculously high. 😂
💞Reasons to Recommend: Because you have to see the island before it sinks!!!
Did you know that Venice is sinking? Yup! It has been happening for centuries now and each year the city sinks about one to two millimeters. It will be probably a few more decades, or even centuries before it sinks completely, but isn't it amazing to know that in a few generations the city will be underwater?
Festival of Venice 🇮🇹
#festivaljoy
I recently attended the Festival of Venice, and it was absolutely magical! 🎭 The whole city comes alive during the festival, with people dressed in elaborate costumes and masks, turning the streets and canals into a living piece of art. The entrance to the public events is free, but if you want to attend one of the famous masquerade balls, tickets can be pricey—up to €500 or more for the full experience.
The atmosphere in St. Mark’s Square was electric, with live performances, music, and incredible photo opportunities. I spent hours wandering through the narrow streets and along the canals, marveling at the craftsmanship of the masks and costumes. After the festival events, I visited iconic spots like the Rialto Bridge and Doge’s Palace, making it a perfect mix of culture and celebration. If you’re in Italy during Carnival season, Venice is a must-see!

《Newbie Must-Read! Detailed Venice Guide, Let's Explore the Dreamy Water City》
Hi, guys! I just got back from Venice, and it was like a dream. Today, I'm going to share my Venice trip with you. This is a super detailed guide that will help you have fun in this water city.
I. Destination Introduction
Venice, the world-renowned romantic water city! It is located in northeastern Italy and is composed of 118 small islands. It is famous for its unique canals and ancient buildings. The climate here is relatively mild, not too hot in summer, and not particularly cold in winter. But be aware that it often rains in Venice, so it's best to bring an umbrella when you go out.
II. Food Recommendations
1. Seafood Risotto: When you come to Venice, you must not miss the seafood risotto. The delicious seafood with rich sauce and rice makes people intoxicated with every bite. The restaurant I went to is called "La Taverna". The environment is super warm and the service is very thoughtful. In addition to seafood risotto, their grilled octopus is also recommended. The taste is very delicious.
2. Italian Ice Cream: There are many flavors of ice cream here, and they are all very strong. My favorite is pistachio and strawberry, which is sweet but not greasy. There are many ice cream shops near St. Mark's Square, you can try any one.
3. Fried Seafood: Various fresh seafood is fried to golden and crispy, and it makes a "crisp" sound with a bite. It is recommended to go to "Trattoria da Fiore". Their fried seafood platter is very good, with shrimp, squid, small fish, etc., and it is simply paired with a glass of refreshing white wine.
III. Scenic Spot Introduction
1. St. Mark's Square: This is the heart of Venice, very spectacular. There are famous buildings such as St. Mark's Cathedral and Bell Tower on the square. St. Mark's Cathedral is open for free, but you need to dress appropriately. You can buy tickets to the bell tower. The ticket price is about 10 euros. You can overlook the beautiful scenery of Venice from above. It is recommended to go in the morning or evening, there will be fewer people, and the light is also suitable for taking pictures.
2. Bridge of Sighs: This bridge connects the Governor's Mansion and the prison. It is said that prisoners will sigh when they walk over this bridge, hence the name. The Bridge of Sighs cannot be visited on the bridge, only photos can be taken outside. The best photo spot is by the canal under the bridge, where you can take a panoramic view of the bridge.
3. Gondola Cruise: This is definitely a feature of Venice. Sitting on a gondola and shuttling through the narrow canals, feeling the romance and tranquility of this city. The price is generally around 80 euros for a boat, which can seat 6 people. It is recommended to take a seat in the evening, the lights are on, it is very beautiful.
IV. Precautions
1. Safety issues: There are many tourists in Venice, so you need to take care of your belongings, especially in crowded places. Try not to walk alone in remote alleys at night.
2. Local etiquette: When visiting churches and other religious places, you need to dress appropriately and cannot wear shorts, skirts and shoulderless clothes.
3. Language communication: Italians mainly speak Italian, but many people also speak English in tourist attractions and restaurants. However, it is best to learn some simple Italian phrases, which will make your trip smoother.
V. Personal Experience Sharing
This trip to Venice is really unforgettable for me. My friends and I walked on the ancient streets, feeling the history and culture of this city. We took a gondola, it was really romantic. In St. Mark's Square, we listened to the performance of street artists and enjoyed the sun and the scenery. The food in Venice also made us feast, and every dish was memorable.
Guys, if you also want to have a romantic trip, then Venice is definitely your best choice. Hurry up and collect this guide, and take a trip! I believe you will fall in love with this beautiful water city.
Hilton Hotel breakfast buffet has honeycomb honey
#hotelbuffet
Travel to Venice, Italy, tried the local hilton buffet breakfast, as it turns out, a five-star hotel, very many choices, smoked salmon sausage eggs these normal things taste online, fruit cheese salad starters those are not Wrong, the salad is there is an oversized of those cheeses that can be put on the salad, which is more surprising, and that the most special thing is that it actually has honeycomb honey to take, eating so many buffets for the first time ,so cute.

Luxurious stays in Venice
In Venice, where there is an inch of land and an inch of gold, the scale of the Dagneli Luxury Collection Hotel is quite amazing. It is the largest hotel in Venice, with three side-by-side buildings. Next to the Governor's Mansion is the Lean Building, including the terrace restaurant and guest rooms; the most eye-catching red main building in the middle is the building where the low-key main entrance and the dreamy lobby are located. It is also isolated from the rightmost white guest room building by a waterway, so there is also a gallery bridge built in the air to connect the two buildings, and below the gallery bridge is the hotel's private dock; the movie "Deadly Companion" mentions the hotel in many parts, especially the lobby and its stunning. The hotel is like a private art museum, which can take a lot of time to explore. #100WaysOfTravel

Rainbow Town of Burano in Venice, Italy 🇮🇹🌈
My day trip to Burano, an island in Venice, was a vibrant and colorful escape. Known for its brightly painted houses, Burano felt like stepping into a fairytale. Each building was a different shade, creating a rainbow of colors that reflected beautifully in the surrounding canals. I spent the day strolling through its charming streets, admiring the intricate lacework for which the island is famous. The atmosphere was peaceful, with locals going about their day and the occasional boat passing by. A visit to Burano offered a refreshing contrast to the busy streets of Venice, leaving me with lasting memories.

Venice citybreak ❤️🗺️
#citydaytours
Venice was a magical experience during my summer vacation! 🇮🇹 The city’s canals, historic architecture, and charming alleys make it a unique destination. We spent our days getting lost in the narrow streets, taking in the stunning views from the Rialto Bridge, and exploring St. Mark’s Basilica. The entrance to St. Mark’s Basilica was free, though the nearby Campanile cost around €8 for an elevator ride to the top for breathtaking views of the city. ⛲🗺️
One of the highlights was a gondola ride through the canals, which was around €80 for a 30-minute ride—a bit pricey but absolutely worth it for the experience. We also enjoyed wandering through the colorful neighborhoods of Burano and Murano, known for their lace and glass-making. 🎨
Venice’s romantic ambiance and rich history make it a destination I’ll never forget.

Venice, Italy, is a city renowned for its unique beauty, rich history, and romantic ambiance. Built on a series of islands in the Venetian Lagoon, it's famous for its intricate network of canals, elegant bridges, and stunning architecture.
Key attractions in Venice include St. Mark's Square (Piazza San Marco), home to St. Mark's Basilica with its impressive Byzantine architecture, the Doge's Palace, and the iconic Campanile (bell tower). Essential Tips | Guide to a Day Trip in Venice, Italy
❗️Venice is a name that has resonated with me since childhood~ It's a magical place in Europe that I've always heard adults talk about, where everything is water~ There's no land~ Houses are built on the surface of the water!
😠Very curious! Finally got the chance to come here as an adult, wanting to see this city where there is no land and all life is on the water.
Arrived in Venice. 📑Pure essential tips sharing.
Venice has always been known as the 'City of Water'. The city has a total of 177 canals, connected by 401 bridges of various designs.
(Mission Impossible has even filmed scenes here.)
✅Getting on the island:
I recommend buying a day pass, as Venice's water public transport is operated by the ACTV company, and I find the transportation costs a bit expensive, with a single ticket costing 9.5 euros.
You can buy tickets from machines at the stations, which is convenient.
✅Attraction Introduction
Water taxis, you can experience a gondola ride here, where the gondolier rows you around. (The prices are also very transparent)
The gondoliers in Venice are more handsome than the next, and even though the weather is cold, seeing a handsome guy makes you feel incredibly happy. My heart is on fire.
PS‼️(In photos 456 behind me, that bridge, when you walk over it, make sure to keep a close eye on your belongings, just a short bridge, you know, personal and property safety comes first.)
Went to St. Mark's Square on the off-island, ⛪️ just in time for the bell ringing, the sound echoing over the square is the 'sound of freedom'.
There are many shops and markets around the square. 🎉Very lively.
✅Attraction Photography
Venice is also very photogenic, whether you're sitting on a gondola taking photos🤳 or in St. Mark's Square.
👍Take a stroll through the Rialto Market, experience the local life and culture of the locals, it has a unique charm.
Nice spot to enjoy sunset in Venice

Giardini Pubblici of Venice is the largest green space and a nice area to stroll and chill. The garden is wide and has benches, hackberries, trees and more. It is open for public and often will see the local run there. Outside the garden is well paved, easy to walk. I would recommend you to go in the evening and wait for sunset. Between the Giardini Pubblici and Riva dei Sette Martiri is the best place to enjoy sunset because is less crowded. It is definitely a nice place to chill.
I want to travel to Hong Kong to enjoy their sunset and views.

Venice in August is beautiful and lively
Seeing is believing, there are many people and boats, the weather is great and the scenery is pleasing, much better than the small canals spread on the internet. You can stay for one night, two nights, or three nights, it's all up to you.
Bus No. 5 runs between the airport and the city station every 20 minutes, you can buy tickets directly from the driver, pay in cash, one way is 10 euros, less than 30 minutes, super convenient.
It's best to just carry a backpack, don't drag a suitcase. There are steps and small bridges everywhere in the city, dragging a suitcase will exhaust you.
Favourite Trip of 2023 - Venice
Venice has got to be one of my favourite trips of 2023. It was my first time in Venice and I fell in love with this charming, rustic and romantic water town. The architecture was unique, love the many bridges running through the water town and the majestic grand canal. It was so soothing and peaceful for me to be cruising through Venice in the water buses (Vaporettos) though the waters was always busy and bustling. November is a good time to visit Venice with lesser crowds. Love the amazing gelatos and fresh seafood I had in Venice.
2023 Venice was great and I hope to explore new amazing destinations in 2024 with Trip.com, my preferred travel partner (app) that I always go to when planning my next place of travel!

Burano perfect day trip from Venice
If you’re heading to Venice and have enough time, I recommend you plan a day trip to Burano. However, Burano is quite touristy too so I highly recommend you to go there in the morning so you have enough time to head back to Venice! I was there in the morning and have the whole Burano to myself.
It was so peaceful and beautiful 🤩 with the rainbow colors painted houses-could be the most colorful island in the entire world!
As you may know, public transport in Venice mainly consists of water buses – the so-called vaporettos.
The only water bus that goes to Burano – and Murano as well – is route 12 which departs from Fondamente Nove (Ft. Nove).
This stop is in the northern part of Venice and a 20-minute walk from St. Mark’s Square.
Do take note of the ferry timing so as not to miss and plan well so that you have sufficient time to return back to venice. I had also took the day pass so I could use the water taxis foe the entire day! #italy #2024wish #2024wish #venice #venicedaytrip
Trip to Venice, Italy 🇮🇹
Vacation to Italy 🇮🇹 I have been to Italy before but this is the first time traveling to Venice. Aside from good Tiramisu (my all time favorite in Italy), the view of Venice was absolutely amazing. This post is just me sharing some good places and cafe that I’ve visited and really enjoyed.
Aside from all the tourist spot that you can find online, I would definitely recommend you to visit Doge Palace. The building was really grand and we managed to take some pictures from the outside. I also bought entrance ticket from Get Your Guide and with the ticket, we can skip the line. Just simply show your ticket to them and they will show you the way. It costs only €30. I definitely think it is worth ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

We also visited the most popular Gelato shop 🍨 in Venice, Suso. My friends we’re recommending me to check it out. I definitely love it especially when the weather is so warm. The queue was quite long but we managed to find another outlet which has shorter queue. All the flavors that we tried were good but it really depends on your own preferences (but I love pistachio the most 😂) Overall, it is worth to try and the price is affordable ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

As for restaurant, my favorite one will be Trattoria Al Gazzettino. We were there for dinner around 6pm. There is no queue but we made a reservation in advance too. The staff were really friendly. We had Crab Spaghetti and Truffle Spaghetti. The price is slightly expensive but the portion and taste are great. They also gave us cookies after our meal as dessert 😊 Do try out their truffle spaghetti, we just love it ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Advantages of Visiting Venice in Autumn
There are actually a lot of advantages to visiting Venice in the autumn.
For one, prices are cheap, including hotel rates and airfares.
Second, there are lesser tourist crowds, so sightseeing is easier.
Third, the heat that summer usually brings is gloriously absent. Consider the occasional frolic in the water (with boots, of course) a one-of-a-kind experience that cannot be experienced in other destinations.
Also, it makes for a good travel story afterward (like how we were almost talked into buying those pricey boots). Besides, high tides occur only until mid-morning and late at night.

Venice - City of love !!
A quick day trip to Venice before disappear from this 🌎. Due to global warming and glaciers melting, water level is higher and higher day by day. Sooner or later , James Bond movies have to change locations 🤪🤪!!
Venice is easy accessible from many locations by trian , bus , ferry and flights. For me , I took day trip from Milan . Since I have Eurail pass , I can Just use my pass to go there by train and it took less than 2:30hrs .
I would say, Venice have two different face , one is touristy area and the other part of island is local fishing area . I explore the whole island by foot and have my lunch at one local place and it cost me 1/3 of normal tourist area charge 🤭🤭, but you need to prepare to walk when you are with me 😆!!
San Marco Square area and Gondola ride areas are too crowded and the rest of the island are still adorable and enjoyable with small alley and lovely local shops . Once you are in Venice , try to walk around the other part and enjoy different side of Venice . See you all on the other side of the 🌎 !!
