The UNESCO place Fushimi Inari located in Kyoto, is the most important of several thousands of shrines dedicated to Inari, the Shinto god of rice. Foxes are thought to be Inari's messengers, resulting in many fox statues across the shrine grounds. Fushimi Inari Shrine has ancient origins, predating the capital's move to Kyoto in 794.
Fushimi Inari Shrine (伏見稲荷大社, Fushimi Inari Taisha) is an important Shinto shrine in southern Kyoto. It is famous for its thousands of vermilion torii gates, which straddle a network of trails behind its main buildings. The trails lead into the wooded forest of the sacred Mount Inari, which stands at 233 meters and belongs to the shrine grounds.

Udon Shop Overlooking Senbon Torii - Nishimura-tei
During our hike at Fushimi Inari Taisha, we had the opportunity to visit Nishimura-tei, the udon shop located at one of the rest area in Fushimi Inari Shrine in Kyoto, and we must say it was a delightful experience. The shop is conveniently situated near the entrance of the shrine, making it a great spot to refuel after exploring the beautiful surroundings. We were lucky to be seated in the tatami room near the window, overlooking the scenic view of Senbon Torii or the 1000 Torii gate.
We had kake udon, amazake, and of course inari sushi, since we're at Fushimi Inari Shrine. Tired and famished from the hike since morning, we gobbled up our food right away. All were delicious!

Pielpajarvi Wilderness Church
This is a place you just won’t find accidentally. Literally in the middle of nowhere in Inari community, Finnish Lapland there’s a church that’s not located near any main roads and it’s completely inaccessible without hiking a few kilometers.
Pielpajarvi used to be a winter village for the people of Inari where they used to gather for markets and listening to religious ceremonies. Anyway there was never any real village with people living there, people used to come there when the lake was frozen and hence the church and the surroundings were more easily accessible.
The first church in that location was built already 1646-1648 but it was rotten and hence destroyed. The current church was built to the site and was finished 1760.
The church used to be in regular use until late 19th century when it was replaced by a new church that was built near the habitation. But the wilderness Church is still occasionally in use, every year there’s a Midsummer ceremony and some couples can also use the church for their weddings.
The church is located about 10 km north from the village of Inari. The address to the parking where the hiking route to the church starts is Sarviniementie 249, Inari.
There’s no services and no admission fee to the church but nearby wilderness hut offers some shield against bad weather and also fireplace, simple cooking facilities and an outdoor restroom.

Northern Lights: A Tribute to My Beloved Dog
#finland homage to the cherished companion who has left pawprints on my heart. With me, I carry her fur, a tangible reminder of the love and warmth she brought into my life. As the aurora dances across the night sky, I find solace in knowing that her spirit shines as brightly as these celestial wonders above. This journey is not just about witnessing nature's grandeur; it's a poignant tribute to the bond we shared and the memories that will forever light up my soul. 🐾✨ #NorthernLights #ForeverInMyHeart #DogLover #dog #aurora #lapland #inari #finland
