Huang Yao in Hezhou, Guangxi Province
Huang Yao is located in Hezhou, Guangxi province. It is one of the best preserved ancient towns in all of China with a history of over 1000 years. The town is immaculate, with numerous narrow cobbled streets opening up onto squares, ponds, lakes or gardens. The town runs either side of a small river, which has a clear and central prominence in the life of the locals. The town is full of coffee shops, restaurants, boutique restaurants and craft shops. The perfect place for a weekend away!#history #ancienttowns #guangxi #freehotelstay #falltrip
Fabulous Yangshuo!! 📸🌿
If there’s one place you visit during your time in China it should be Yangshuo in Guangxi province. I’ve been there twice and it’s definitely worth it.
This time, I chose to stay in a small family run hotel about 4km outside of the main town. it’s closer to nature and away from the crowds. Yangshuo town is chaotic so I’d recommend avoiding there. There are tons of really nice hotels dotted around the countryside. You will be able to rent scooters for getting around conveniently.
Similarly when it comes to food, don’t eat in the town. Look for somewhere more local. You won’t be disappointed.
When it comes to sightseeing, my favorite part was driving my scooter around the countryside and stopping off at my own leisure. I found it super relaxing and chill.
One of the big draws to this part of China is the nature and serenity so don’t waste that by joining group tours or hiring a guide.

China’s Flag in the Wind
As we celebrate China’s National Day, let’s embrace the beautiful flag as it blows majestically in the wind!!! And what better place to see the flag fly, than on the Li River!?! Indeed, taking a Li River cruise is the perfect way to see the amazing natural scenery surrounding Guilin. I have taken this trip three times now, and each time I love to capture a dramatic photo of the Chinese flag blowing majestically in the wind. This is also a perfect place to introduce guests from abroad to China. I took a Swedish friend here recently and he loved it.#flagship #China #Nationalpride #guangxi #yangshuo

A Guide to Detian Waterfall, Guangxi
Getting There:
Many people will come from Nanning by bus to get to the Detian Waterfalls. I did a different option, as I was staying in the Mingshi Scenic area and traveling solo. The difficult thing is the transportation: there are not any public buses or even reliable Didi from Mingshi. Best to arrange cars with your hotel (which is what I did) or even rent a car yourself and drive! It’s about a 40 minute drive from Mingshi to the Tourist area where you buy tickets. From there, you’ll take a bus 10 minutes to the waterfall.
Attractions:
1. Detian Falls on the China / Vietnam border in Guangxi. Absolutely stunning! (CNY 115/pp for the entrance fee plus the sightseeing bus)
2. Take a boat ride close to the falls (CNY 30/pp for the bamboo rafting)
3. Ride the “Magic Carpet” up to the Glass Walk for a great view over the whole area. (CNY 68/pp)
4. Enjoy Vietnamese coffee or snacks at the various shops around.
Hotels:
I stayed in the Mingshi scenic area at the Kongshan Xiaozhu Hotel (大新孔山小筑酒店) for 2 days, then stayed at the Mingshi Mountain Hotel for 2 days.
Some people choose to stay close to the Waterfall area, and there are lots of hotels and shops around so it’s also a good choice.
Food & Restaurants:
There are many restaurants, Vietnamese coffee shops, and snack options around the tourist center, the hotel areas, and the Detian Waterfall area itself.
Important notes:
Bring your passport to Detian Waterfall! On the drive there from Mingshi I was stopped at a border security point, and needed to show my passport to the officer (all was fine though). I also needed to show my passport for buying a waterfall ticket - your ID is linked and printed on your ticket. I went to the ticket counter because the mini program on WeChat didn’t support entering a passport. #detian #guangxi #china
Guilin
One afternoon in Guilin
Started our new year road trip from Guilin in Guanxi province on our way to Sichuan. I walked out of the hotel and found a Meituan electrical bike so that I could explore a bit around town. I also hiked up the little Diecai hill to see the city from the cave. around 15 min walk up. and I had to pay 25 rmb as a foreigner but the Chinese don’t have to pay these days.
The mountains that surround the city are stunning to watch, I never get tired of the view. #newyearadventure #guilin #travel #explore #china #guangxi
Historical Guangxi...
Arrive here by private car before or after visiting Goose Spring, a 15-mimute drive away. Jiuzhou is located close to the China-Vietnam border region and therefore is a mixture of both cultures., especially the architectural style of some of the buildings here. Taking a relaxed stroll through the small lanes, you can witness local life and culture, from the distinct language dialect, through the the handicrafts that can be bought here. There are several pretty temples and pavilions inside that are framed with the backdrop of the surrounding hills and small lakes. This is a relatively quiet and peaceful place...but also a welcome stop on a journey to this region.

mountain bliss...
Located around 2 hours drive south of Baise, China's Guangxi province, you will come to one of the most stunning places to visit in a China itself. This is the mountains that run along the China-Vietnam border region and there you will find Goose Spring, hidden away in it's secluded and picturesque wonderland.
Only accessible by private car...once you arrive, a short boat ride up to small river is a good way to begin the visit. This is the opportunity to see the local people and take in the unbelievable scenery that now surrounds you on all sides. Then take a walk past the gardens, pools and water wheels and take a leisurely climb up to the viewing platform overlooking the valley below. Here you can take an unforgettable panorama or the scene in front of you. Climb even higher for a walk along the side of the mountain trail. Any time of year is perfect to come here...even in the winter, the fog provides a mysterious backdrop to the mountains!

Wyndham wind-down 😌
Located next to the river in Baise, this hotel sits on a quiet street and driveway, away from traffic. The hotel has gardens and also the interesting Red Sprit Park is behind the hotel too. There is a shopping mall that is about a 10-minute walk away and has various restaurants and shops. Likewise, all areas of the city are easy to reach, including the train station and the new main shopping area.
The hotel boasts a SPA area that includes a good size swimming pool with good temperature water, gym and games rooms. There are also 2 restaurants-Chinese and Western. Check-in was swift, however the hotel is huge, so rooms can be a good 5-minute walk from the lobby itself.
Rooms are very comfortable and the bed is nice and soft. The bathtub and ahowers are also excellent quality. Overall, a very good hotel and wouldn't hesitate coming back to stay again.

Rice Terraces in the Autumn-Sun
Longji Rice Terraces, translated to Dragon’s Backbone Rice Terraces, have its name because the rice terraces look likw a dragon and the mountain range behind looks like the backbone of a dragon. They are maybe the most famous rice terraces in China, close to Guilin city in Guangxi.
I've been there twice, once in summer and in autumn. Autumn was more cooler and easy to hike.
📍 Longji Rice Terraces, Guilin, Guangxi
🏨 I recommend to sleep inside the scenic area for one night, in this case you can see the sunrise and also the sunset. So beautiful!

Raidens retirement vacation
Today we discovered Shangri-La in Yangshuo . basically it’s folk authentic park with beautiful scenery .
On the way to this place , my bike died but this fact didn’t stop me . I got the new one and continue my journey.
It looks quite boring from the start , but when you go deep you can acquaint with some local traditions in food , behavior , dressing etc .
Make sure your tickets include boat trip . I didn’t want to take it , but I didn’t regret . During the trip I saw lot of nature views , trees blossom . There are some checkpoints in the way where park stuff dance when they see new boat .
the main thing about boat trip was floating through the cave .
try to find a time and visit this place ☝🏻Enjoy 😇
P.S. for mortal combat fans : don’t forget to buy one of these Raiden’s hats 😄

The Skyline of Guangxi's Liuzhou
Liuzhou is a city in the South of Guangxi. I'm case you're there, I really recommend you to visit Ma'An Mountain Park in Downtown Liuzhou.
The mountain is next to the inner city island and you have an amazing view on the skyline if Liuzhou. It looks like a smaller Chongqing. 🌃

The Chinese name of Ma'An Mountain Park is 马鞍山公园. You can go to there with public bus or taxi. If you're already in downtown, you can even walk.

Away from crowd lead me to the ancient town.
The Huangyao ancient town is a unique and remarkable place with amazing scenery. If you are tired of modern Chinese cities, this is the place you must visit also there are so many popular ancient towns in the Guangxi region to check out too This town has a long history of nearly 1000 years and the original one can be dated back to the Song dynasty. One of the top ancient towns in China. This town is most famous for its mountains with caves, pavilions, temples, ancestor hills, old trees, and tables. Also, this place was the shooting place for a famous International movie "The Painted Veil".
Every corner of the two presents a typical Chinese scene and presents marvelous photo views. It has been described as that: "Huangyao town as a millennium collection, have been forgotten in the library quiet I the shelves when people come inadvertently turned this beautiful chapter, simple and elegant style to conquer the hearts of the people".

Guilin by Night
Guilin is magical at night. The lights dance on surface of the water in different colors. The smells and noises create an ambience of noisy city life and romantic calm. Take a walk along the river or ride a bike. You can even pay a local to ride you around in a tuk-tuk. There are many food and drink options along the river. Take a cab from your hotel or type in “sun and moon pagoda” into Maps and take a late night stroll. The streets are busy with runners and dog-walkers and ladies doing dance routines to beautiful Chinese music. This is a great place for friends, couples, and families. It is also very easy to do it solo. There are plenty of quaint little boutique hotels along the Li river.

Longji Rice Terraces in Guilin, China
I just checked off another box on my China bucket list! 🇨🇳
Today, I visited the Longji Rice Terraces and they did not disappoint! We checked in at the Baike Hotel (highly recommend, check out the review on my profile), and started hiking right away.
The terraces reach a peak elevation of about 3300 feet and feature some of the most beautiful scenic views! I was able to fly my drone from the top point to get this footage and was truly in awe of how peaceful and serene this area is!

Peaceful Mountain Cabin-Longji Rice Terraces
Overall - Wow! This hotel felt like something straight
out of a mountain cabin dream. We drove here from
Guilin and arrived to the property after a 15 minute
walk up the town road. We were greeted by our
lovely hosts upon arrival, who helped us settle in
and made sure we had everything we needed.
Room - Our room was excellent. Very clean and
organized. It came with two beds and a spacious
balcony with a view of the Longji Rice Terraces. It
also smelled incredible because of the wooden
architecture. The details of wooden carvings
throughout our room and hotel were beautifully
intricate.
Nearby Activities - About a 10 minute walk from the
hotel sits the famous Longji Rice Terraces. We hiked
up to the top and headed back down through a
quaint town filled with stunning character and
unique surprises along the way. It was an interesting
experience being the only tourists to visit at the
time, so we had a clear view of the surroundings. I
was able to fly my drone over the Terraces and the
beauty of this landscape is truly astounding!
Food - We had a delicious dinner of Bamboo Rice
and chicken. A dish that is famous to the local area
and quickly became a favorite starT& Give Feedback
on the rest of the trip.

Yangshuo Park
Yangshuo Park is located in the center of Yangshuo town, it is a favorite hangout place of local residents, who come to the park to exercise, play games such as chess or mah-jongg, sing and dance, or relax and unwind. It’s an easy place to escape the tourist crowds of West Street.
From the front of the park just wander in till you reach the children’s play area (to your left) You will see a path leading off past the children’s area, head down this path. After the monument you will pass along the way you will come to a small junction with the main path turning to the right and a smaller dirt path leading to the left and to the bottom of the karst mountain. You can stop about halfway up at a beautiful outlook spot, which reaches out from the mountain into the park, some of the views here in the early evening can be stunning! If you continue up you will reach a small pagoda at the peak which gives you a great view over the main road leading into Yangshuo and gives you a great feel of how the town has been slowly built up around the karst mountains ⛰
How to get there: Main entrance to Yangshuo park is located near the roundabout at the bus station.

River Snail Noodles in Liuzhou (Guangxi)
Liuzhou Luosifen (螺蛳粉), also known as River Snail Rice Noodles, is a world-famous snack rice noodle in Liuzhou City, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, with a unique flavor of spicy, fresh and sour. It is the most famous local snack in Liuzhou. The unique soup makes the River Snail Rice Noodles more delicious.
During the last years it became very popular all over China, but only the original in Liuzhou really satisfied me...
🏴 Liuzhou City is reachable by plane, train and bus.
🥣🥢 Which restaurant is the best? I asked different locals, and everyone gave another answer. That's why I won't recommend any restaurant here. I tried six different ones during my three day stay, all of them were unique and good in their own way. Just try for yourself and enjoy!

When it comes to hiking, China is super blessed with all the mountains and with less harmful animals. Thus as we decided to walk the talk with the nature, it led us to Guangxi province where the trails and perfectly laid (as we're not hardcore hikers) and quite a relaxing hike we had. After the hike for a while, we ventured to a nearby village to have a look at their customs and traditions. We participated in the local dance performance and the lucky one got a garland (that's me 😋). Later in the trip, we also went to see the Silver caves, which is quite magnificent. These caves are formed by volcanic flow some 1000 years of ago and still the ground holds, so we can go around and have a look. Guangxi is a must visit to all the tourist in here. #leaveyourmark #guangxi #hiking #urbanexplorer

Follow the yellow bloom road!
This was at least the fifth time I've been to Yangshuo and every time I see something new. Last year I went during the rainy season, in June, and there was a flood; we had a relaxing day playing cards in the hotel and eating instant noodles. This year we were there at the end of February and it was perfect because the 油菜花 rapeseed flowers were blooming everywhere. Blue skies, green hills, yellow fields. We cycled along the Yulong River to Fuli and it was a perfect day: mild weather, spring blossoms and joyful signs of life everywhere. Yangshuo is always beautiful but this is definitely a good time of year to go, just before the spring rains.

I've been to Yangshuo several times before but I'd never climbed the TV tower hill until now. It was really worth it! I didn't know exactly where the trail started but I had a good idea of where it should be (you can see the trail snaking up the mountain from the town.) I headed in that direction and found myself in a maze of alleys behind the market. I wasn't sure I'd be able to find my way through these narrow streets and then saw 上山--> painted on a wall. Perfect! I followed a few more of these ad hoc signs and soon found myself at the bottom of stone steps leading out of the village and up the slope. It's a typical Chinese trail: steep and all stairs. It's not a long climb though. At the top there's a compound with the TV towers in it; the old man who lives there will take 5 kuai (WeChat accepted) to come inside and admire the view. I think he also sells drinks. I asked him if he climbs up there every day and he laughed and said no he stays in the house there. What a view to wake up to every morning! You can see how the town of Yangshuo stretches out like the arms of an octopus in between the karst hills, radiating away from the area around 西街 West Street.
Definitely recommended if you've got an hour or two to spend and want the best overhead view of Yangshuo. If it's too much climbing for you, go to the hill in People's Park, which is t#awesomepic pped by a small pagoda and overlooks the town centre.

Camping would never be the same again in Liuzhou..
Getting There - catch a flight or hi speed train into Liuzhou. This Yue Tong campsite restaurant/resort is just located about 20 minutes from downtown Liuzhou.

📍 Yangshuo, Guangxi
Yangshuo was on my China wishlist for a long time and we ended there quite spontaneously this October holiday. I saw the karst hills and I had a vague idea of what to expect but I was honestly blown away by reality! Landscapes are truly unique with dramatic hills, crystal rivers and wildlife as soon as you leave more popular tourist tracks. The most enjoyable way to explore Yangshuo and its surrounds is renting an e-bike.
✈️ Getting There - 1.5h from the Guilin airport or 40 minutes by shuttle bus from the train station
🤩 Attractions - bamboo rafting, Liu Sanjie Impression show directed by Zhang Yimou is a must
