Tianmen Mountain
The Heaven’s Gate of Tianmen Shan is a mountain located in Zhangjiajie, Hunan Province. It is one of the most beautiful mountains in China and the highest in Zhangjiajie, with the highest point reaching 1,518.6 meters above sea level. The mountain is uniquely characterized by a large natural arch, which was formed through natural erosion. From below, it appears as a gateway to heaven, hence the name. This natural wonder has thus become the source of its name.
Stairway to Heaven's Door😅
📸Attraction Name: TianMen Mountain (Heaven’s Gate)
📍Location : South of Zhangjiajie City
🚏Best way to get there: tourist bus
The hole was eroded by water that looks like a massive doorway in the cliff face.
To reach it, you have to climb 999 steep and narrow steps up to the cave- it’s literally the Stairway to Heaven. 😂 Those 999 steps were very tiresome and hard but take your time, take a break and just sit to enjoy the view.
Keep going until you knock on Heaven's Door"😆

GLASS SKYWALK😧😨😱
📸Attraction Name: Glass Skywalk: Walk of Faith TIANMEN MOUNTAIN
📍Location : West of Tianmen Mountain
🚏Best way to get there: cable car
If you love adventure and not faint-hearted, this glass skywalk is waving at you. With an altitude of 4,600 feet, and a dimension of a 197 feet long and 5 feet wide, you will be in for a real and thrilling adventure. It’s like walking in the sky. I’ve seen people who are scared of height and were leaning against the cliff and crawling to cross it😂 You must definitely see and experience this😍

Stairway to Heaven (Tianmen Mountain)
I spent four days in Zhangjiajie and needed to dedicate one of those days to Tianmen mountain. It’s worth seeing, but I do need to caution that there are an insane number of people, so be prepared to wait hours in line to take the lift down. But the natural arch is unique and the views are nice. The winding roads up there are quite something too. Unfortunately the 999 steps were closed that day so everyone could only take the escalators up.

Heavens Gate mountain
Heaven's Gate Mountain is a mountain located within Tianmen Mountain National Park, Zhangjiajie, in the northwestern part of Hunan Province, China.
It offers many breathtaking views! I highly recommend you arrive early in the morning to avoid the long lines and the heat.
Make sure to take the cable car up and down the mountain to enjoy the view. The elevator isn’t worth it since it’s covered and you can’t see anything.

The Gateway to Heaven is a little crowded 🤷
Compared with the other attractions in Zhangjiajie, Tianmenshan is a *little* disappointing, but this is due almost exclusively to the over-commercialisation and the crowds. Try to avoid visiting in peak season if you can. If you can't, then just be ready to go with it and accept it for what it is. You'll stand in a few queues and you'll be cropping people out of your pictures, but your Instagram will look great 😅. The views are stunning and worth it.
The cableway is something special and a definite must if you're a cableway fan like me.
I reccomend booking route B (Shorter, express cableway up, and the main long cableway on the way down). This way, you can time your trip to catch the sunset on the way down. However you decide to do it, there's plenty to enjoy in the park: Gorgeous mountainside paths (my favourite part), glass elevators, super long escelators etc. Some of the stuff seems a bit gimmicky and unnecessary but that's because this traveler likes his nature to be, well, natural 🤷♂️.
FYI: All routes start at the ticket office in the town. There are shuttles to take you where you need to go, according to the route and times you booked.
You only *really* need 5-6 hours to enjoy everything the park has to offer but, if you can book tickets for earlier in the morning(at peak times, you need to book at least 2 days in advance) then you can take your time about it. Tianmenshan is comfortably done within a day.
Peak season experience rating: 6/10.
*It would be a comfortable 8 if it hadn't been so busy.

Tianmen Mountain & 99 Bends
When you are in Zhangjiajie, make sure to visit Tianmen Mountain!
Bad luck on us, we visited the mountain when it was a raining season. Nevertheless, we still managed to experience the magical moment when fog covers part of the mountain.
Take the 999 steps down from the mountain and enjoy the scenery while completing what could be one of your longest staircase challenge!
Before finishing our Tianmen Mountain day, we ended off with a view of the 99 Bends.
Tip: Engage a local guide who knows their way around Zhangjiajie for a more fruitful trip! Trust me, it will save you a lot of time.

Tianmen mountain-really close to the city center and you can see all attractions on the mountain in one day. For 278 yuan you will get a cable car to the top and back plus escalator to see "heavens door" rock hole. Watch out for the weather, sometimes its really foggy. #nature #zhangjiajie #heavensgate #tianmenmountain #chinatrip #chinalife #chinadestinations

Find Me on Cloud 9 - Tianmen Mountains
Take me back to this incredible journey on top of Tianmen Mountain ⛰ when we were quite literally on Cloud 9!☁️
Travel these days has become such a luxury due to the current situation we’re living in… it’s insane.
I know one thing is for sure, I’ll never take travel for granted again. I’ve gained so much experience in the world from being able to get outside and explore. Now, in another lockdown, I can see that much more clear. I’m coming for the mountains when we get out of here!
