Stunning views with great food in Zest Ubud 🌱🇮🇩
#familytrips2024
Stunning views? Or tasty food ? If you are Looking for both then you must visit Zest Ubud in Bali ! I'm not usually one for vegan cuisine, but I was pleasantly surprised by the delicious bowl I tried here! We had pumpkin waffle with cinnamon ice cream, pesto pasta and a very pretty smoothie bowl! It was well-portioned and flavorful, offering great value. The ambiance of the place is extraordinary too, complemented by sweet live music that adds to the dining experience. Whether you're vegan or just looking to try something new, I'd definitely recommend a visit!

Ubud Palace is a fantastic spot to experience the traditional craftsmanship and architectural beauty of Bali. The entry is free of charge hence it’s always crowded with tourists but it didn’t affect our experience there. It’s an unique opportunity to walk through the grounds and admire the intricate designs of the palace. The steps are a great spot for photos!

The forest of the mischievous monkeys
The Monkey Forest in Bali is a lush sanctuary located in the town of Ubud. It's home to over 700 Balinese long-tailed macaques who roam freely among the dense trees and ancient temples. Visitors can observe these playful monkeys up close, but caution is advised as they are known to be mischievous and may attempt to snatch belongings. The forest also features moss-covered stone statues, serene pathways, and a tranquil atmosphere, making it a popular tourist destination for nature lovers and cultural enthusiasts alike.#Indonesia #Bali #Ubud #trip #travel #Monkey

Ubud’s beauty 🌱🌳
#2024wish
My visit to Tegalallang Rice Field in Ubud was nothing short of breathtaking. As I arrived, I was greeted by a view that seemed to stretch endlessly before me. The terraced rice paddies, with their vibrant shades of green, created a serene and picturesque landscape that was truly captivating.
To fully immerse myself in this natural wonder, I decided to embark on a mini trekking adventure. I followed the winding pathways that led me through the rice fields, allowing me to explore the intricate details up close. As I ventured deeper into the fields, I couldn't help but feel a sense of tranquility and connection with nature.
The mini trekking experience not only allowed me to appreciate the stunning beauty of the rice fields but also provided ample opportunities for capturing incredible photographs. Every turn revealed a new perspective, offering me the chance to frame the perfect shot.
However, it's important to note that exploring the rice fields requires some physical effort. The trek involves navigating uneven terrain and climbing up and down the terraces. Be prepared to sweat and wear comfortable footwear to ensure a more enjoyable experience.
Also, the rice fields are home to some pesky mosquitoes, so it's advisable to apply insect repellent before setting off on your trek.
While many visitors opt for the popular Bali Swing nearby, I made the decision to skip it and dedicate my time to exploring Tegalallang Rice Field instead. And I have no regrets. The raw and untouched beauty of the rice fields offered a more authentic and tranquil experience, away from the crowds and commercial attractions.
In 2024, I wish to explore Marrakech! 🤞🏼

Sunsets in Bali 🌅
On our roadtrip we had the chance to experience some of the most amazing sunsets I have seen in my life 🫶🏼🤩
Kuta - Balangan Beach - perfect for watching sunset. When the tide is low you can walk pretty far around the corner of the cliff.
Amed - the beach in Amed is beautiful with the mighty Mt. Agung the biggest volcano on Bali in the background. Also makes for an amazing place to watch the sunset.
Ubud - Heron Bird village
We came here to watch the birds. They are everywhere in this little village and it is in addition a perfect place for sunset. There is a watch terrace where you can see the amazing view.

Eating like the locals in Bali
Ubud has so many options for food and all of it looks amazing. We found this traditional Balinese restaurant and tried it for dinner.
We ordered different things so that we could share and experience different flavors. I ordered the chicken satay and I did love it together with local bingtang beer. The roasted duck might be one of our favorites together with the pork ribs.
The restaurant is half under open air in a backyard also worh some umbrellas for rain or sun. Very cool place in the heart of Ubud.

We woke up to this 🌴☀️
✈️ with an early arrival to Bali at 6:30 in the morning we needed a place to chill before our villa was ready in the afternoon.
We took a Gojek (Uber/Didi) from the airport to Cretya in Ubud. The place is like a day club where you can get amazing food, dip in the pool or take pictures at giant swings that are so popular in Ubud right by the rice terrace.
We went straight for the breakfast - avocado toast and some matcha latte and we felt refreshed and relaxed. Truly an amazing start of the vacation.

Amazing Ubud lunch 🥗
Cozy charming cafe in the middle of Ubud. Perfect place for a lunch after a busy morning with temple cleansing and sound healing in Bali.
Fantastic options for light bites for lunch. I opted for a smoothie bowl and was not disappointed, not only was it beautifully served but it was good as well. All the food is sourced fresh from the nearby farm or ocean. Also vegan friendly.
The cafe is on the second floor with open wall solution. Very cool and at the same time very cozy.

Immersed into the serenity of Ubud at Artenanka Resort
The Artenanka Resort and Spa in Ubud is an amazing place to relax and de-stress. It is a boutique resort hidden amongst narrow paths, rice fields and fruit trees, and away from the main roads. Guests arriving in cars will be dropped off at the drop off point ( next to the famous Moksa Restaurant), and the hotel staff will pick you up within 3-5 minutes, while the ride is only 3 minutes, and you get to enjoy the serenity of Ubud on every ride. This service is 24 hours. Every morning you will also wake up to hear birds chirping, and see ducks swimming in the streams.
The resort has a lovely spa with a naturally heated outdoor pool, as well as stone chambers and private rooms for massage. There are also morning yoga and Balinese dance performance on the weekend.
We stayed at the classic room that was over 60sqm. The interior is designed in the Balinese design in teak wood. The air conditioning was strong, and the beds were super comfortable.
We loved this resort so much and it is indeed a fabulous place to relax and spend time with family and loved ones.

One of the best Crispy duck restaurants in Ubud - Laka Leke
Laka Leke- a lovely hideaway restaurant famous for serving crispy duck - is situated near the Monkey Forest in Central Ubud. Seatings are in the open-air garden under thatched huts with view of lotus pond and rice fields , while listening to birds chirping in the background. Customers may choose the private huts with a smaller table and straw mat and cushions seatings , or the larger and more comfortable table with chairs.
We went there for dinner so couldn’t see some of the distant views. However, the outdoor seatings were considerably cooler at night and perfect for dinner. We ordered half portion of the famous crispy duck with rice , and the spicy prawn which was amazingly delicious. The duck was deep fried and therefore crispy on the outside but still maintained it’s juicy meat. The duck was on the small size- just slightly bigger than a spring chicken. So even lighter eaters should be able to finish the entire portion .
We especially loved the fried tofu , spring rolls and gado gado with peanut sauce. I would recommend this restaurant at lunch time for the perfect garden and scenic views!

Bali in 3 days - too short, but love ..
I booked a night flight to Bali and spent full 3 days with hope to see things as much as I can..
Day 1 Ubud tour to Tagalalang rice field - beautiful greenery view - I love it so much. Next is Tirta Empul Temple, I made wishes in the holy spring which was so amazing. Then I went to a waterfall and luckily saw the sunset before back to hotel
Day 2 Heading to the north, I went to see Ulun duna temple which is located in a lake on the top of mountain. Great weather and nice views there. And drove down to see sunset at Tanah Lot temple, another Hindu temple in the sea.
Day 3 drove down to Uluwatu for surfing at Padang Padang Beach, the famous small beach, and super great for surfing!!
Done the trip with Happiness :)

Glamping in the heart of Ubud, Bali
Ubud tropical is a serene getaway but at the same time only a 10-minute drive to Ubud Town. It is located in the center of all the places that I planned to go to.
I wanted a place just for sleeping, is unique and on a budget. So when I found this glamping tent located in lush greenery, conveniently located and $78 for 2nights 2pax (doesn't include breakfast but I didn't need), I booked it right away on the Trip app!
The room is beautifully decorated, has a private bathroom and air-conditioning. It was cold at night and be prepared for bugs!

🗓️ October, 2023
5 nights at Sayong House, nestled in the heart of Ubud, just an hour's drive from the airport.
A handy tip – airport drop-off is more budget-friendly than pick-up!
Location-wise, we strolled to the Ubud Palace and Traditional Art Market effortlessly, and the Monkey Forest was just a 20-minute walk away.
The staff here? Absolutely fantastic and accommodating!
As for the essentials: the guest house's swimming pool was just right for a refreshing dip. Our room, complete with hot showers and air conditioning, offered a comfortable retreat. Keep in mind that shower gel, shampoo, and towels are provided, but other toiletries you might need to bring along. Luckily, water is available at the reception.
Now, the breakfast – what a treat! We had a choice of three options: banana pancakes, egg omelette, or scrambled eggs, all paired with a fresh fruit plate. And for drinks, coffee or tea hit the spot. ☕🥞🍳

World UNESCO: Tegallalang Terraces
#wheretogo #ubud #tegallalang #riceterraces
Today we visit the Tegallalang Rice Terrace, one of the most popular tourist attractions in Ubud, Bali, and for good reason. This UNESCO World Heritage Site started in the 8th century is a breathtakingly beautiful example of traditional Balinese rice farming. The terraces cascade down the hillsides in a series of emerald green steps, creating a truly awe-inspiring sight.
Only a short 30 minutes drive out of Ubud, Bali, this has become a must see attraction for visitors to this part of the world. It is also possible, as I did, to hike 8-9km to the Rice Terraces from Ubud Town, sipping balinese coffee along the way.
Upon reaching the rice terraces, one could take a walk through the terraces, hire a local guide to explore the history and culture of the area, visit a local temple, or enjoy a drink at one of the many restaurants and cafes with views of the rice paddies.

Monkeying Around in Ubud
During our one day trip to Ubud, we stopped by the Monkey Forest Sanctuary and were delighted to see so many monkeys. These monkeys were not aggressive, but we did see one jump on a lady visitor because she may have been wearing something that caught the monkey’s attention, so visitors should be aware. We say many monkeys diving into water and swimming, many monkeys grooming eat other, and many monkeys looking for food or eating food that staff or tourists were feeding them (visitors can pay for corn to feed the monkeys).

Ubud’s Best Kept Secret
A luxurious jungle resort and spa, located mere minutes from the Hanging Gardens, with villas built into the landscape and surrounded by unspoiled Balinese jungle. Set in a beautiful and secluded location, with stunning individual villas, a unique set up, unrivaled views & a delicious restaurant, this is one place to stay that you’ll want to consider if you’re researching a holiday in Ubud.
The rooms were absolutely stunning, each set in an independent villa type chalet with a balcony that overlooked the jungle. With just 18 traditional villas landscaped into the hillside, Nandini Bali feels exclusive, secluded and romantic. Each villa has been built in keeping with the beautiful area, using natural materials and accessed by a funicular (or hundreds of steps) and offers fantastic views.
The bed was extremely comfortable and the mosquito net and plug ins did their job perfectly. We had a fridge in the room too which was handy for keeping drinks in and allowed us to enjoy a glass or two whilst getting ready in the evenings or whilst we played games on the balcony before bed.
The view from the pool at the Nandini Resort is something else. No photo can do it any justice as you are literally surrounded by raw, untouched natural Balinese jungle and forest.

Infinity pool in a rice field valley ☀️
#balitrip
Pondok Sebatu Villa ranks high on my list of Top Resorts/Villas in Bali, and not just in Ubud. A special place in a quiet village (Desa Sebatu) against a valley of cascading rice fields, it's perfect to have some peace after a week of partying/exploring. It's 10 mins by motorbike from Ubud centre.
The resort offers 7 room types. I stayed at the 2-bedroom pool villa, and it was fabulous. The villa consists of 2 adjoining recycled wooden huts, refurbished tastefully into modern "cabins". The bathrooms came with tubs, but the highlight was the infinity pool overlooking the steep valley of rice fields. It was breathtaking. From sunrise to sunset, there was no shortage of stunning views. It was so relaxing and therapeutic to look at the lush greenery, to listen to the sound of nature and wildlife, and to enjoy the breeze.
Overall, I highly recommend this resort to those seeking to escape the hectic side of Bali. It's a beautiful place with fun activities and great food options.
Tip: Not suitable for those with mobility issues. Lots of stairs/steep slopes.
