The White Deer Ancient Academy
Rich in history, beautiful architecture, peaceful nature area and so much more!
I wasn't planning to go here till I found out it was near my guesthouse and I am glad I went !
there is so much information (in English) about this ancient academy, all the traditions, explanation about the rooms, and the stone craving poems.
Located on the East Side of Lushan Mountain entry fee is 40rmb and you can easily spend 2 hours around exploring the whole "campus".
they also have archery fields, caves, temples, classrooms...a complete cultural experience !

Sandie Waterfall - Lushan Mountain 🏔️
is a pity we can't swim in these magical natural pools 😔 it reminded me north of Portugal where we have the same (but people allowed to swim ehehee)
Located on the East side of Lushan Mountain, a less touristy and crowded area is perfect for a hike all the way up and enjoying the beautiful views.
Entrance fee in the park is 60rmb and is Worthy cause you'll spend at least half day exploring around ;)

Ruqin Lake on Lushan Mountain
Lushan Mountain has not only different mountain peaks and a city on top of it, but also a beautiful and mystic lake: Ruqin lake! 🚣♀️
The lake is drawn on many ancient paintings. Today you can walk around the lake and enjoy the view. Families and couples strolled round the lake, enjoying the relaxed atmosphere after their dinner at the nearby restaurants. The bridge, the pavilions, the calmness of the lake, it's a nice weekend hideout.
🎟️ The lake is not inside Lushan scenic area, so you don't have to buy the ticket. It's free.

Sunrise from Mount Lushan in Jiangxi
Lushan is a city in North-Jiangxi. Understand. Lushan is not one single mountain, it's more a mountain area with the township Guling at an altitude of about 1000 metres and the surrounding mountains up to Dahanyang peak at about 1500 metres. ⛰️
It was originally built up by British as a summer hill station. You can still see come evidence of their architectur. It's a popular travel spot in summer and winter.
🌄 Sunrise in summer is at around 5:30am, in winter later of course. You can find guesthouses at the mountain-top and also (cheaper) in the city.

Lushan Hotelstay-Trip to Republican China
Tired of 'all the same' chain-hotels? This guesthouse in Lushan (Jiujiang, Jiangxi province) is definitely something else. The house is very old and the whole interior is from Republican China era. Feel like you travel back in time.
The owners are super nice and help you with everything. We even got an upgrade. In the neighborhood are some small villages and Lushan mountain is also not far.

Refreshing spring-water in Lushan
I found this wonderful refreshing waterfall/cool spring river in Lushan/Jiujiang in Jiangxi province. The water is cool and only locals know the place. The boss of my guesthouse recommend it to me.
It's a little hard to find, it's not in the scenic area of Lushan. The best way is to follow the navigation to 莲花洞森林公园. It's not too far from Downtown Jiujiang and the villages close to the mountains. ⛲💦🏞️
You don't need to buy a ticket, but that might change, as there is some small construction going on...
You can hike quite high into the mountains, there are more waterfalls. Bring good hiking/sport shoes! Enjoy!

Winter expedition to Lushan: Conquered!!!
We took a bus from the CBD to the base of the mountain. There are buses specially available for tourist going to climb Mount Lu & they’ll charge you according to where you’ll start your climbing from as well as if you’ll need transportation back. We started from the base & climbed all the way to the top, we however took a cable car on our way down, and took a taxi when moving from one scenic spot to the other.
There are many attractions that one may see. We went in winter, on a cold & snowy day so we were fortunate enough to experience & see the beautiful views from a high up altitude. There are lot of temples & historical sites around.
There are a variety of nice hotels to choose from & these vary with your budget.
There are lots of restaurants serving different kinds of food. Be sure to try out a famous soup called WaGuanTang - 瓦罐汤, it really helped setting the mood before our hiking experience at Mt Lu.
Just before you get on the cable car, there are many stores outside selling souvenirs and different kinds of herbal tea.
Overall it was an amazing experience & I’ld do it again in Summer to find out how it’s like in a different season. See you there next time.
