The RAIL CORRIDOR…
#singapore
It’s more than just a nature walk, the Rail Corridor is a walk into Singapore’s history! Passing the old Bukit Timah Railway Station is a quick throwback to a bygone era when train trips into Malaysia was a daily commute for some. And walking on the truss bridge feels like a visit to a period film set! The steel structure is a sight to behold, and very well-maintained. Going southwards towards Tanjong Pagar, you would get into spots where it’s all nature, which feels like you’ve been transported into the jungles outside of urban Singapore. The Rail Corridor is a real treat of an excursion!

CONEY ISLAND: ALL NATURE, NO RIDES! 🤣
#singapore
Unlike New York’s Coney Island, famous for amusement rides and fun fairs, Singapore’s Coney Island is a back-to-basics wonderland of pristine nature!
Took my folks there for a late evening, pre-dinner stroll because they were reminiscing about having taken a boat from Punggol Point Jetty to Coney Island back in the ‘60s for a picnic and a swim. These days, it’s an easy walk to the island along the Punggol Promenade from The Punngol Settlement, where we had dinner afterwards.
Coney Island has the most beautiful towering trees that keep the sandy paths shady and cool. One could still swim there if one choses, and set up a picnic even, and just spend the entire day by the beach. But do take note that the gates to Coney Island close from 7pm-7am!

The Beauty of Bukit Timah Hill…
Never mind the steep climb, it’s a short one, and before you know it, you get to touch that rock at the summit, and then enjoy the scenic views of those iconic transmission towers perched atop the picturesque quarry. Look down at the pathways and you might find a gigantic monitor lizard sauntering alongside, thinking it’d be well camouflaged. It’s a pleasant nature walk that also gives a great workout and some healthy forest bathing.

Looking for some outdoor adventure, one recommendation is to head to macritchie reservior and head to one of the many trial this place has to offer.
One of which is the lornie trial where this will bring you towards the water catchment area with views of the beautiful calm waters of the singspore reservior where at times you will see sport activities like canoeing and fishing here. Instagrammable spots are also all around the area with the many backdrops of the macritchie forest.

Mount Keriang Recreational Park
One of hidden nature that Kedah government need to expose to public. A little limestone mountain to visit in Alor Setar, about 20 minutes only from town central.
Surrounded by paddy fields. Worth visiting, especially in the evenings to get a spectacular view of the mountain with sunlight reflected on it. Paddy museum, science center and aquatic centre with Olympic size pool are just around it. Nice hill to hike, especially for beginner. Just follow the trail.
For an average hiker, it would take about an hour to reach the peak. Highly recommended!#tripblazers #spooktaculartrip #awesomepic #fallingforfall #hiking #naturewalk #hilltop #urbanexplorer #besttrip2022

Experience pristine nature @ Shakadang trail
#thingstodo
Name of location: Shakadong Trail
Address: 📍 972, Taiwan, Hualien County, Xiulin Township
User rating: 8.5/10
Location details: Taroko national park covers a wide range and has many attractions including swallow cave, buluowan, beipu, tunnel of the 9 turns and taroko gorge which is featured in my other post. Quite difficult to get to, requiring a special bus from hualien bus station (Next to the train station) you can buy bus tickets at the hualien county information centre which will take you up the national park trail. Do becareful as as of 2023 December some parts are closed off due to an avalanche earlier in the year. Also not all buses stop at every station! So do becareful on your travels.
The most important tip is to watch for the bus timings on the way down as you will be trapped if you miss the last bus and will need to take expensive private transport down! The last bus is usually around 3-4 PM
Experience details: The shakadang trail is a lovely trail to walk for a naturesque hike and fresh air if you enjoy being in nature. It is also not too difficult for beginners as i even saw elderly walking the trail! Good spot for spotting birds as well with many photographers in the area attempting to capture the local wildlife.
The best part of the trail was the hikers village at the end which used to be a stop point for travellers going through the mountains. Now they serve hot drinks and food! Must try is their local coffee and sausages!!!
some tips is to use the toilet before hand because there are no modern restrooms on the trail. Also the entire trail could take up to 5 hours to hike!

Rainy Tranquil at Yangmingshan National Park
Decided to make a visit to Yangmingshan in May but unfortunately it was drizzling when I alighted. So it's always good to keep checking on the weather to ensure your trip plans can follow though! However, it was also a silver lining as there wasn't many people walking around so it was rather peaceful and very tranquil with a cold breeze. Managed to spot some cows despite the mist and also walk through some of the iconic routes. Another key thing to note is it tends to be a tad slippery when there's a slight drizzle so do make sure you have the right shoes before embarking on your trip there!
A highly recommended place for a morning or early afternoon nature visit. The weather tends to be colder due to the higher altitude so be prepared!

The best view comes after the hardest climb
Went for a hike up #ketumbarhill in Cheras and caught some gorgeous views.
It was a 2.7k hike up and down, the incline was a little tough and it took us roughly an hour of total hiking time.
I did rest at the top for half an hour to catch my breath and enjoy. This also my first time to do the night hiking was so fun and adventure.
Enjoy the moments with friends and family hiking together, taking photos and chit chatting. We did bring some pizza going up for our dinner as well 😂
Strongly recommend this place if you like night hiking. Because the view really beautiful.

Motor boat tour on the Sun Moon Lake
Location: Yuchi Township, Nantou County, Taiwan
Highlights: The Sun Moon Lake is one of the largest lake in Taiwan. I had the opportunity to enjoy the sunset view from the middle of the lake which is just spectacular. The wind was chilly as well so do remember to wear thicker clothes or bring a jacket!
There are a few different piers where you can stop by. Personally I will recommend to stop at the Xuanguang Temple Pier, and try out the ‘Ah Ma Tea Leaf Eggs’, which is one of the most famous snack here!
Price: I went with a small tour group which cost around NTD300 per person, but it is really worth it as we can get the whole boat for ourselves.
