📍 Wroclaw, Poland 🇵🇱
💡 Wrocław is divided into two main tourist areas: the Old Town and the Cathedral Island.
The Old Town is full of Eastern European-style architecture, such as the Town Hall, St. Elizabeth's Church, the Market Hall, and the rows of houses around the Central Market Square. It is not large, and you can see all the attractions in about an hour.
The Cathedral Island is named after the Gothic double-towered Cathedral of the Virgin Mary. Visitors to the Cathedral Island must pass through the Tumski Bridge. Locals believe that locking a lock on the bridge will bless their love, so there are many locks left by lovers on the bridge.

POLIN - the Museum of History of Polish Jews
I didn't realise how big this museum was before entering, so probably spent too long at the earlier sections because I had to go through the last few parts a bit quicker due to time constraints.
There was a lot of interesting information but the museum seemed to have a focus on reading things on the walls, and didn't have a lot of actual historical artefacts etc to look at. There were also several paintings which were replicas so it would have been nice to have more original things.
I didn't do the audio guide tour so that may have impacted the experience, but I found it to be quite overwhelming to read everything, and think there were parts that could have been condensed.
I think if I'd been doing it with the audio guide and spent less time in each section then it would have been a better experience, but I think it just probably wasn't my style of museum, as I'd rather read a book if absorbing so much information in one go.
Definitely one of the best museums in Warsaw and in eastern Europe. It traces the history and migration of the Jews from the early centuries and intersects with the Hitler regime in Poland and thereafter to present day.
We enjoyed the well organized and informative exhibits. We were there 3 hours but for us, it was not enough!

The Museum of the History of Polish Jews
I can really see why this won an award for the best European museum. The way some of the exhibits are laid out is really creative and makes it very interesting and does not get boring - which it could do as there is an awful lot of content here but the different mediums prevent this.
Even the building itself is really impressive from the outside and as you walk into the entrance hall. I visited on a Thursday and didn't realise it was free on this day, which was a bonus!
The only part I was a little disappointed with was the Holocaust section as it did seem to be fairly light touch and I didn't feel the impact of this terrible period of history as much as I thought I would.
In fact, I walked around the corner as I thought there would be more to come on this section! It's a shame as this doesn't seem balanced with the rest of this high-quality exhibition.
It is a very detailed museum on Jewish history. One can learn a lot. Especially about Warsaw during the Second World War which brought everything home. Highly recommend if you like to know the history of the place that your visiting whilst on holiday.
