DaXi 大喜 - Dumplings with a Twist
Address - DaXi, 53 Ang Mo Kio Ave 3 #b1-19/20 AMK Hub, 569933
Ambiance/Facilities - modern, casual
Highlights - dumplings
Avg. Price per Person - $15
Rating - 4 stars
A simple and modern eatery in AMKHub that serves very yummy dumplings with a twist. you can get smoked duck, original or Chives & pork versions. Each type can be ordered in 3 versions - in superior chicken broth, pan-fried or boiled.
We selected original dumplings in superior chicken broth. the broth is very yummy. While the dumplings is nice. we also ordered lu rou fan (braised pork topping rice), the meat was a bit firm (should have been softer) and the gravy could have been more flavorful.
Overall, great place for dumplings

Accessible 313 Somerset mall
Located right next to the underground train station, getting to this mall couldn’t be easier. The station to alight at is Somerset MRT, follow the signboards and surface right inside the mall. There are the well-known retail and restaurant brands here like Zara, MUJI, Chabuton and Haidilao hotpot, just to name a few. You can also find some novelty gift shops such as Typo stationery store for your Christmas shopping needs as well.
My overall rating of the experience: 4 out of 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Meow Barbecue
#moreinsg
Award-winning Chinese BBQ restaurant Meow Barbeque recently opened its doors to the Singapore public so I asked a friend if she was keen to join me in giving this establishment a try, since she is a cat-lover as well 😂
Our advance reservation saved us precious time in waiting for a table as the restaurant was packed with the Saturday lunch crowd. We eventually decided on the 440g Meow Signature Platter, which consisted of beef chuck cubes with onion, marinated sliced beef chuck steak, premium Iberico sliced pork belly, smoky Iberico sliced pork collar steak & boneless teriyaki sliced chicken thigh, with side orders of fresh lettuce & white rice 😋 Besides the complimentary service option of a staff helping to grill our meat to perfection, we were also handed a ziplock bag each to place our masks in & a cleaning cloth for grease removal off my spectacles, both very prettily designed 😍
Overall, it’s a decent place to satisfy your barbecue cravings, although it might not be where you can get the most value for money.
Spa day at the heart of Singapore
Address: Lifespa, 218 Orchard Road (5-min walk from Somerset MRT ), Level 11 Orchard Gateway @ Emerald, 238851
First time trying this place out and I am very impressed! Before the massage, the receptionist will ask you some health questions like - allergies and area you need more attention during the massage.
My masseuse May was very friendly and professional. I didn't had to wait for a ling time before getting served.
She checked for the pressure I'm comfortable with and gave a thorough massage aiming at the areas that I had knots on.
The massage bed had a warmer which was a plus point because it kept me warm and comfortable throughout the session!
After the session I was offered a nice hot ginger tea.
Do make the appointment way in advance as they get fully booked very quickly, especially for the weekend slots.
The sales consultant was very friendly and accommodating to explain the future packages they could offer without being forceful.
They have a couple promotions on going on their website and via shopback and shopee. So I highly recommend you giving a shot if you're looking to unwind around town!
Overall a relaxing experience. I'll definitely come back again!

Create your own ceramic kitchenware

If you are in Singapore and think it is boring, how about doing something which you can call your own? Like making your own handicrafts?
Would like to introduce to you this ceramic workshop where you can mould and create your own kitchenware like cups and plates from clay, all within two hours.
Items are then collected and coloured after it dries like in a week, and it is definitely rewarding to be able to create something yourself from scratch.
Do check out this place called Urth&Phire if you are looking for more fun activities in SG to do.

$10 Japanese meal for 2 🤩
#moreinsg
Where can you find affordable 24 hours Japanese food in Singapore? The answer is at Takagi Ramen 🍜
Takagi Ramen serves quick self-service ramen and rice bowls, with value for money Japanese meals all around the clock. That means at any time you are hungry and craving food, you can go down to Takagi Ramen to enjoy. Most of the menu prices are quite reasonable, with a good serving size. You can even opt for a free additional ramen refill when ordering.
We ordered a ramen and rice bowl, and got their noodles refill, of which all in all cost just $10 for the 2 of us. It's definitely a fulfilling meal and we will be back again soon to try some of the other selections.
Chill out session at OSG Music Bar 🍻
📍3 Temasek Boulevard Tower 1 #01-510, Suntec City, 038983
OSG Music Bar is a nice relaxing music restaurant bar of which you can enjoy a drink/food while listening to songs performances by their resident singers. They have indoor stage space as well as outdoor spaces/stages (I guess only on weekends). As I had gone on a weekday night, there isn't any outdoor seating and only indoors.
Even so, there's quite a number of tables occupied (with more coming in later). The 2 singers were quite good, rolling out songs after songs of which some were requested by audiences. The audience were even singing along with the singers for some of the songs (especially the 90s pop songs)! I found myself joining them & started singing along as well 😆
Overall atmosphere was quite relaxing and I enjoyed myself a lot, especially after a stressful working day.

Pop Mart (cute!)
There has been an increase in interests for blind boxes characters recently in Singapore. Are you one of the who collect blind boxes or just love to open it for a surprise? Come on down to Pop Mart which is located at the street level of Funan Mall. Just a short walk from City Hall Mrt station as well, it is a coinevence place to meet up with your friends to come here and shop. Some of the blind boxes figures are displayed out and nicely as if it is some kind of art exhibition. Some of the items were also displayed in an enclosed area too. There were quite an amounts of people in the retail store when I was there even on a weekday afternoon. You might even spotted something you like and come on, try your luck for it!

Very Refreshing Watermelon Tea @ Clark Quay
Clark Quay is a hype place that people will hang around during evening time. I met my friend here at Huggs, Central Mall. This cafe is considered quite here new and have other branches. I saw many people came here to spend their time for studying or talk.
Although it look very comfortable from outside, I'd not recommend you to stay here very long because in reality it's very humid and warm, therefore you can see portable aircon there.
Thankfully, the watermelon tea is super nice and refreshing. It cost $5, not too expensive. Sweetness can't be adjusted but then it is also not so sweet. They also sell expensive beers and ciders.

Western Food @ Centrepoint open until late
Another food recommended for youngesters who love to stay up late. It is called 49 seats. This place is super spacious and the vibe is like in school canteen although plate is like the meal served in prison (as seen in movies).Their theme is more like silver plate.
Portion is huge and worth to spend on their set meal which is main + soup + drink for $17.9++. Should try the plum coke, seafood tomyum with salted egg chicken cutlet. Very tasty and not that "jelak".
Non halal certified but they don't serve any pork, lard, or even alcohol. I brought my muslim friends here and they don't mind because halal cert in singapore is quite costly & troublesome to get.

Shun Li Restaurant
Had always wanted to try Shun Li Restaurant whenever I pass by Tampines St 11 area. They are located at the popular Tampines Round market area. Only open during evening time only cooking up chinese style dishes that tasted like home cooked food. They are also not open every evening as well so do check up the opening hours again before you come down.
We took the order about 6pm that evening and the food came shortly after. I love the lychee fried fishn it tasted really unique with the lychee mayonnaise sauce. The sambal chilli on the fish were also spicy and really fresh too. There are pretty busy once they open and people were coming in one after another.
Do give this chinese cooking style of home cooked taste a try!

BLACK by Action City
For those who love bearbricks (a cute toy bear with colorful and different designs), you might want to come on down to BLACK by Action City.
The retail outlet is located at Funan Mall at the street level so it is easy to be spotted! It feels like a art exhibition to me with the bear separately spare out and some are even suited nicely on stand or table for your viewing pleasures. Bearbricks creation was to celebrate pop-art culture and it has slowly gain popularity in the recent years to come. You might find cute designs like spognebob Square pants, cute zombie and even more sophisticated designs as well too. You can take it as viewing art gallery as well if you are here.

NBC Stationery & Gifts
NBC Stationery & Gifts has been in Singapore for the longest time I can remembered even before digital world. Located at the level 3 of Raffles City shopping centre, near the food court area. They are quite huge, occupied 3 units of the shops. Here, what I spotted was the cute totoro and pusheen!! These are old school kind of cartoon characters and I even have some at home too! Now they also sell soft toys where its great gift of tourists to buy too since City Hall mrt station area is pretty centrally located thus there is a high footfall of tourist. Their stationery are of different from other bokk shops, there is nice colour of pen, pencil and even cute eraser too! How cute all these.

Milk Fish - yummy fish soup!
Milk Fish is a restaurant that sells fish soup that added with milk. Not only fish soup, they actually sell a lot of other dishes too like drunken chicken rolls, egg dishes, grilled unagi etc as well. If you are feelclike having a more luxury dish, there is even premium dish that includes abalone, the usual seafood at a higher price of about $30 plus. While their standard set is also about $13 plus. Price for the dishes does seems to be the higher side, but it will be worth your bucks. Fish was fresh and yummy. I love the soup base so much! There are even kids menu for kids as well too.
Milk Fish is located at the basement of Raffles City shopping mall which is a direct linked and walking distance from City Hall mrt station.

It is easy to get to Funan Mall which has a direct link way from City Hall Mrt station. There are alot of buses passing by here too.
Located at the corner of the mal,, there are some awesomen figures and you cannot miss it. They even have gashapon machines once you enter the retail store too where you can see if there are any of the characters you like, you can try your luck on it! They even sell pokekon cards wrapped nicely in plastic bags, which I believe are the rare kind of cards for collection too. Michelin star Dan Dan Noodles from Kobe
My order 🧾
🥢 Dan Dan Noodles, $19.80+
Finally tried this popular Japanese dan dan noodles which I’ve been seeing on my feed for some time. Picked medium hot for my spice level (should have just picked spicy lol) and as predicted, not spicy at all..just mild spice from chilli powder 😄
The noodles are thick and served al dente with creamy and nutty dan dan sauce, onsen egg, minced meat and diced meat. Enjoyed this although I did add some vinegar halfway to refresh my palate. They have 3 types - spicy, orange or kelp vinegar. I added the orange one and it has a refreshing taste. Also a good idea that they included pickled radish and crunchy chopped onions so that it does not get too jelak. Generous portions and I didnt manage to get the free mini bowl of rice because I was too full by the time I finished the noodles 😂
There was a queue even before they opened for dinner so do come by early as the shop has limited seating spaces

Fei Mookata
One of Singaporean's favourite is actually Mookata (this is like BBQ and steamboat together) I was at Marina County Club when I spotted this and we decided to give it a try. Fei Mookata is located just outside of Marina Country Club and just beside car park so it is easy to find it. There are indoor and outdoor seating. Indoor have air conditioning but not much tables around while outside is more breezy. We sat indoor as there were cute fairy wheels that you are able to put the ingredients on top of it! It can even save some space and kept the kids entertaining but do take note it will swing! So do not swing your food ingredients out! The service staffs were friendly and the food cam pretty fast. They also have special drinks to order as well. The chilli is also good if you can take spicy. Will be back for more!

Not only that, they also sell facial wash and cream based items for body, etc that is also from myanmar as well. Try it if you want to have a taste of myanmar here!

Did the store name caught your eyes like me too? Eye-catching isn't it? I saw it when I was nearby running errand so I thought of trying it. They have two retail outlets in Singapore but the one I went is at basement of Havelock 2 shopping mall at Havelock Road. They have the original egg tarts and some unique sweets one like Earl Grey egg tarts, berries egg tarts and they even have savoury ham and cheese egg tarts too. You can buy it individually or as a pack as well. I brought 2 back, one of each is the original egg Tart as I want to try if it's good. Went home to make hot it and it was pretty good, the egg tasted smooth and I love this type of buttery Tart shell that they use. Do give them a try if you happen to see them!
