Take a tuk tuk to Kibune in Kyoto for a refreshing riverside dining experience.
If you're planning a summer trip to Kyoto, I recommend visiting Kibune Town in the Sakyo District. In addition to visiting the Kifune Shrine and nearby Kurama Temple, you can enjoy the summer-limited riverside cuisine on a riverbed surrounded by green forests, which is a great way to cool off and cleanse your spirit🧖.
From Kyoto Station, you can take the No. 17 bus towards Ohara to Demachiyanagi Station (about a 34-minute ride), and then take the Eizan Railway to Kibune-guchi Station (about a 19-minute ride). This time, I visited the Kibune Mizu no Mori Tenzan, which offers a free tuk tuk shuttle service. Just make a note of the need for a shuttle and the time when making a reservation, and the restaurant will arrange to pick up guests from the open space next to the Kurama Fire Station (about 60 meters from the Kibune Station exit).
Once you enter the riverbed area, the atmosphere and temperature are completely different. The environment is so comfortable with lush green trees, moss-covered stones, and tiered waterfalls! As for the riverside cuisine, I personally think the grilled medium-rare beef and minced meat rice are the best, and for dessert, I chose the red bean and mochi soup, which was also delicious, and you can see the reflection of trees on the red bean soup.😊
After the meal, we walked to the Kifune Shrine (about 650 meters, around 8 minutes), and the plants along the roadside were also very beautiful. At Kifune Shrine, you can also try water divination and scan a QR code for a translation of your fortune.
Address: 18-2 Kurama Kibune-cho, Sakyo-ku, Kyoto
Environment: Cool forest riverbed
Features: Riverside cuisine, grilled sweetfish
Average price per person: About ¥6000-8000
Rating: 💚💚💚💚💚💯
Note: Riverside cuisine is only available in summer (about July-September), and the exact dates of availability can be checked on the restaurant's IG. Reservations can be made on the Japanese restaurant booking website (the restaurant does not accept IG DM reservations).

Hikizuri Embankment - Ishi-no-Shimizu Hachimangu Shrine - Blooming Cherry Blossoms.
Travel Guide: Take the Keihan Main Line to Ishi-no-Shimizu Hachimangu Station
Must-visit spots: Hikizuri Embankment, Ishi-no-Shimizu Hachimangu Shrine
Must-try delicacy: Aruhei Mochi old shop
During the cherry blossom season, you must visit the Hikizuri Embankment. The cherry trees along the river are in full bloom, and it might take over two hours to walk the entire path and take photos. On non-holidays, the place quickly fills up with people. At the entrance (on one side of the bridge), there will be someone collecting an admission fee. The ticket is not expensive, about 200 yen, but it's definitely worth the price, as the view is spectacular.
On the other side of the bridge is the Ishi-no-Shimizu Hachimangu Shrine, which is highly recommended. The embroidered Goshuin (shrine seal) is definitely worth collecting. A leisurely stroll might take over an hour.
In the cherry blossom season, finding a comfortable afternoon to visit Yawata City in Kyoto is a great choice
Want to enjoy cherry blossoms in Kyoto without the crowds? Then you must come here!
During these two weeks, the cherry blossoms in Kyoto are in full bloom, and it's a rare opportunity to wear a kimono and take photos with the cherry blossoms for your social media! Popular tourist spots like Kiyomizu Temple, Gion, and Fushimi are packed with people, making it hard to get a good photo without anyone in it. If you want to take your time and get beautiful pictures, Jo recommends coming to Yamashina! It's only one stop away from Kyoto Station, and there are many traditional Kyoto houses. Walking up the hill is really quiet, with just a few Japanese tourists around, creating a tunnel of cherry blossoms. There are also many yellow flowers in full bloom, small bridges over flowing water, and the beauty that makes you go 'wow'! It's truly a hidden gem and incredibly romantic!

【Uji, Japan】A Tranquil and Far-reaching Ancient Capital Day Trip.
Many people traveling to Kyoto, Japan 🇯🇵 choose to spend half a day or a full day in Uji. The itinerary for this day trip starts from Uji JR Station → Mimurotoji Temple → Uji Shrine → Ujigami Shrine → Byodoin Temple → Uji Park 🚶♀️.
Most of Uji's attractions are within walking distance. Except for taking a bus 🚍 from the JR station to Mimurotoji Temple, all other spots can be reached on foot, which is very convenient ☺️. When tired, you can taste traditional Japanese sweets and matcha tea 🍵 at the nearby old shops.
It was a bit rainy 🌧️ on the day of my visit to Uji, but the misty weather matched the atmosphere of Uji perfectly. Plus, there were not many tourists that day, so while enjoying the spectacular views of the Uji River and Asagiri Bridge in Uji Park, I particularly felt the tranquil and far-reaching spirit of this ancient capital 😌.
🚝 Transportation: A short walk from Uji JR Station
The premier Kawazu cherry blossom viewing spot in Kansai 🌸
The Kawazu cherry blossoms along the Yodo Canal in Kyoto are among the most renowned in the Kansai region🌸
Located just a 10-minute walk from Yodo Station on the Keihan Main Line, the blossoms begin to bloom in early February and reach their peak by mid-March✨ Approximately 300 Kawazu cherry trees line the Yodo Canal, and the Kawazu Cherry Blossom Festival is held to coincide with the peak viewing period. At the festival, a rest area is set up at the Shimotsu Town Hall, where warm tea, cherry blossom parfaits, grilled mochi, ohagi (sweet rice balls), and roasted sweet potatoes are planned to be sold🍡
Please check with the local government for the detailed schedule, which will be announced as soon as it is decided🌟

Wandering Through Kyoto
In mid-April, I embarked on a captivating day trip through Kyoto. I couldn't resist visiting the must-see spots, including the enchanting 鴨川 (Kamo River), the Keage Incline rail track, the original Nintendo HQ building, and The Philosopher's Walk adorned with cherry blossoms. I ended the adventure on a rooftop bar in the city center.
Leaving Kyoto with unforgettable memories, it was time to say goodbye and head back to Osaka.

An Afternoon Stroll in the Streets of Kyoto ⛩
What better way to spend your afternoon than strolling along the well-preserved streets of Kyoto. Kyoto is one of the few places in Japan that has managed to avoid war destruction making it a great place to see traditional Japanese culture and architecture. The Higashiyama Ward is just one of the many places in Kyoto to have this unique experience in Japan. Don’t forget to stop by the only Starbucks in the world that’s known for its traditional Japanese building.

Hatsumōde at Kiyomizu-dera ⛩️
Have you experienced Hatsumōde in Japan?
Hatsumōde is a popular Japanese tradition that involves people visiting shrines and temples during the New Year holidays. Kiyomizu-dera is one of the most popular places in Japan to practice this tradition in. It can be very busy so I suggest going early to avoid crowds.

You can do a hike alone the “Senbon Torii path”, where you will find long rose of torii gates. The gates where donated by people to have a whish come true le for gratitude. If you look at them, you will understand which are the old and which the new ones ⛩️
Along the path, you will have a nice view of the city of Kyoto.
Even if it is open 24 hours, the shrine is always very crowded. You should go during the weekdays or very early in the morning.

The name "Mipig" is a combination of the words "miniature" and "pig."
