The highlight of my life!! NZ Tongariro crossing
The tongariro crossing was honestly incredible. You get the chance to hike up an active volcano, It was around a 10 hour hike. The hike is not easy but the views you have along the way are breathtaking and 100% worth it. Once you get to the top you realise what you have achieved and everything feels so surreal! #newzealand #newzealandtravel #Hiking #Volcano #Tongarirocrossing #Travel

History in Ashes
#wheretogo #jogja #volcano
There is a village located merely 4km away from the volcano Mt. Merapi. And back in 2010, there was an unfortunate event that happened. An eruption occured that decimated the village. Although there was no lava involved, the hot smoke from the volcano was more than enough cause all the destruction you see in the pictures.
This village has since become a museum and it’s a great place to go to see and learn what happened.

Auckland is located in the north island of new Zealand and the country itself is well known for the many beautiful scenic view of nature hikes and seaview from high above.
There is a place that you have to visit and located at Maungauika at the north head path where it is used to say to have a volcanic eruption more than 50 over thousands years ago. Also, during the war this place was also used as a defence where you can see turrets and bunkers facing the sea protecting the island.
Trekking to a Volcano in Zambales 🇵🇭
#timetotravel
Upon seeing this breathtaking place , I felt like I needed to kowtow because of its magnificent sight. This is Mount Pinatubo, an active volacano which last erupted in 1993.
You need to trek for 2 hours to the crater of the volcano which has crystal clear lake. Trekking is a popular activity here so it is advised to wear your hiking gear if you want to see the famous Mount Pinatubo's crater. Before the hiking you will experience an hour and half jeep drive from Angeles City.
Make sure you are well equipped and carry a light backpack to store your water.
A memorable trek indeed!
Enjoy your hike!

Experience Mt. Tangkuban Perahu close up
Mt. Tangkuban Perahu is a MUST to complete the entire Bandung experience. Located just 20km at the outskirt of Bandung and is actually the only crater in Indonesia that you can drive up to its very rim with its very unique and distinctive shape, like an overturned boat with water-like liquid changing colors from blue, and green, to gray.
You can walk pass the top and down through the forest down to Domas Crater to hot springs. There's a lovely hot spring and mud spa, run by the locals. Plenty to wander around and well worth the visit.

Trek Bali's most iconic volcano!
#balitrip #bali #hike #trek #volcano #mountain #batur
Mount Batur is a UNESCO heritage site and an active volcano. It’s one of the most popular sights in Bali and the most popular hike in Bali because it's a beginner-friendly climb, and you get to see amazing views (in good weather). Its elevation is 1717 meters. If you're relatively fit you can reach the summit within 2 hours.
It's worth it if you're looking for is some time out in nature, some exercise and an epic sunrise. However the mountain can get crowded, with up to 600 hikers a day. Everyone needs to go with a guide so the most popular way to trek this is to book a tour, so you’ll most likely be in a group along with many other groups of people, all trekking up at the same time.
If you’re doing the sunrise hike, you’ll have a very early morning start. Hotel pick-ups can be anywhere between midnight to 2am depending on where you are staying. If you are in Ubud, it's about an hour ride (especially in the middle of the night when there is very little traffic). You’ll then stop for some coffee and simple brekkie and then make your way with your group to the base of the mountain. Then you hike most of your way up in the dark with flashlights. It’s a volcanic mountain so the ground is black sand/dust and rocks, not lush greenery. Your shoes will get DIRTY.
Ideally you should dress warm as it gets chilly at the summit before sunrise. It is a great experience, hiking up in the dark and then seeing the beautiful sunrise with stunning views. Highly recommend!
Conquering an active volcano 🌋
When in Bali, never ever miss out on an unforgettable, unconvential experience. Beyond the islands, beaches, and nightlife, travel up north into the cultural heart of Bali and go on a sunrise trek up Mount Batur - one of Bali's active volcanoes!
Mount Batur stands at an imposing 1,717m high, and is still active! Its most recent eruption was in 2000. The sunrise trek begins at roughly 3.30am, and everything is provided: sticks, flash lights, refreshments and breakfast. Our guide was fantastic: he was encouraging, helpful, and funny. Your guide will also make breakfast for you at the summit, including hard-boiled eggs cooked in the steam from the volcano!
The beginner-level trek (1.5-2 hours) though at some parts challenging, is worth it. The sunrise is stunning at the summit - you can even see Lombok from there! It was a personal and emotional moment for many - I dare say it's a life-changing experience, so do not miss this when in Bali.
Tips to conquer Mt. Batur:
1. Have enough rest the day before
2. Bring a light jacket
3. Wear shoes with strong grip
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Stood at the edge of an active 🌋 crater
🌋 Mount Bromo is one of the most famous and stunning attractions in Indonesia. It is one of the UNESCO World Heritage Site. What’s so unique about it is the fact that it is a volcano inside another volcano.
In the beginning there was only Mount Semeru (the highest peak of Java Island), and it erupted multiple times creating a giant caldera with small mountains inside, and one of them is Mount Bromo which is still active today. The group of mountains is now called Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park and has attracted tourists from all over the world! 🏔️
🕰️ The best time to go
Most people start their journey at 2AM to reach the top by sunrise.
🥾 Hiking up to the crater cone
The area leading to the base of Mount Bromo is off limits for any vehicles except by horse or foot. I'd suggest the former because it is not that short of a distance, and the horse ride was pretty exciting, you'll feel like an adventurer in a foreign land. The view was absolutely stunning, you get to see the great expanse of the Semeru caldera
🏇 After the horse ride, you have to hike up 250 stairs to reach the crater cone. The hike was a bit strenuous, but it was worth it when you finally reached the top. The view from the top of the crater cone was breathtaking, with a stunning panoramic view of the surrounding landscape & You can see the active volcano with its steaming fumaroles, which added to the surreal atmosphere of the place.
Overall, it was truly an unforgettable experience.

Mount Batur
Mount batur
Our tour guide picked us up at 2am, we started our journey and stopped at a small cafe for banana pancakes and tea and coffee. We then made our way to the start point of the trek at the bottom of mount batur.
We started the trek at about 3:45am. Our tour guide was really helpful, gave us torches and bottles of water. The start of the trek isn’t too bad, it’s fairly flat, and then you start to climb. The first half there is also a road so if you’re one who doesn’t want to do as long a trek you can get a lift to the half way point. At the halfway point the tel gets a lot harder. We were all beginners and it was a struggle for us to climb up this volcano and we only had nine trainers so not the best footwear but it was still achievable. The terrain gets very rocky and as it is a volcano some spots are quite slippery where it’s gravelly.
We made it to the top around 5:35, so had around 50 minutes till sunrise. Our tour guide went to get our second breakfast which was included in the tour, however this was a bit random; a boiled egg and banana sandwich’s. We started to decent around 6:45am, we took the easier route down but this although isn’t as rocky it is very slippery due to the volcanic rock. We had to get our driver to collect us at the halfway point so make sure you’ve got their contact details incase you can’t make it back to the bottom as this is a tough trek.
We finally made it back to our hotel which was in Ubud at 9am. It’s was a great Experience but I wouldn’t do it again and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone who isn’t sturdy on their feet.

Beware the Blue Fire!
Kawah IJEN is a unique volcano in East Java, Indonesia. Its claim to fame is its gorgeous blue fire, but also its acidic crater lake, and the labour-intensive sulphur mining that takes place there, which is an eye-opener. The climb up Mount Ijen is in itself a torture, but the view at the top is priceless! A stunning aquamarine crater that sputters every now and again! But beware! This beauty emanates toxic gas!

Spectacular Views 😍 (Mt. Batur)
Getting There - Best to arrange with a guide as there are fees involved when climbing the mountain. It’s about a 2 hour trek for the average fitness level.
Attractions - There are radish fields on the way up and a ton of nature (obviously). At the peak there’ll be cracks that produce steam and volcanic sediments as well
For the nature lovers, this is something not to be missed when in Bali. The trek isn’t too difficult and can definitely be done even by the most novice hikers; you’d just have to start earlier to catch the sunrise.

Waking up to ricefields & a volcano 😍
#newyearadventure
A new year means new adventures, new travel destinations, and new experiences. I'm glad I got to visit Mount Batur for the very first time! Despite having been to Bali many times, I'd never been to the active volcano. And wow, what a morning it was. This experience at Mount Batur has become my favourite moment ever in Bali.
Mount Batur is located in Kintamani (north of Ubud), and stands at 1,717m tall. It was formed nearly 30,000 years ago, and watches over the whole of Bali. The view from the surrounding rice fields was beautiful. If you have the time and energy, I highly suggest going for a hike up the volcano. The local guides are very friendly and helpful!
For the new year, let's experience many more first-times during our travels. The view of Mount Batur towering over the lush green ricefields somehow inspired me to always look forward to my future, and beyond all possible horizons... seize each moment that comes!
Tips for visiting Mount Batur:
1. If you're hiking up, get a local guide and wear warm clothing.
2. Wear good hiking shoes.
3. Bring insect repellant!

whispering sand @Bromo volcano 2022
#2023travelwish
Is trekking an active volcano dangerous? trekking Bromo with my best friends was in our basket list. we planned in advance for 4 months, train our stamina for this trip. it is not an easy trip but it is unforgettable. first day with heavy rain, cool and windy but we never give up, we still trekked the panorama view at king Kong hill at 4.30am with 4wheel truck. then continue trekked the active Bromo volcano with horse for my friend under the rain. thanks God for stop raining that allowed us to take our memories photography. the second day is sunrise day, not everyday is bad luck. that is the moment we were waiting for, this day was another situation -strong wind and sandy. anyhow, this is fantastic for the whispering sand photo even we drank sand and hard to open our eyes.it is really an unforgettable experience we ever have. we love our trip.
hints: horses and 4w can be the best transport for photography. remember to protect yourself from cool weather. don't forget to enjoy the delicious bakso. local Indonesian will buy flowers for praying.

A park with lots of steam vents!
#mytripvlog
We visited a park with a lot of fumaroles in Furnas, a small town in the southeastern part of São Miguel Island, Azores, Portugal. Fumaroles are openings in the earth's surface that emit steam and volcanic gases.
This fumarolic field is part of the Furnas Volcano, a major dormant volcano with a summit subsidence caldera. The local people often cook meals in the hot geothermal soil here. They call this "Cozido dad Furnas" (Furnas geo-cook). If you are lucky, you can try this geothermal cuisine in the nearby restaurants. However it is better to do advance reservation.

We stopped by a small park near the islet of Vila Franca in Vila Franca do Campo, a small town in the southern part of São Miguel Island, Azores, Portugal. The islet is less than 1 km away from this small park. This inhabited islet is primarily composed of basalt and used for recreational purposes like cliff diving and snorkeling in the summer. It has an almost completely circular bay with a diameter of 150 m. It is one of the nature reserves on Azores.
It was cloudy and rainy when we were there. We were awed by the strong waves of the Atlantic Ocean!

Sete Cidades is an attraction that you will not miss if you visit São Miguel Island, Azores, Portugal. The Sete Cidades Caldera at the top of Sete Cidades Volcano is the largest freshwater lake in the Azores.
Although, hydrologically, the Sete Cidades Caldera is one large crater lake, most refer to it as two separate bodies: Lagoa Verde (Green Lake) and Lagoa Azul (Blue Lake).
We stopped for a while at the bridge that separated the two lakes and marvelled at the wonders of nature. The lakes appear to have different colours because they reflect the sunlight in different colors.

Volcanic hike
Ever wanted to try hiking up an active volcanic mountain? In Bali, you can take a path up Mount Batur to experience it. The journey is pretty tough for beginners like me as there are quite a number of vertical ascends that require a lot of strength. It was cloudy when we arrived at the peak but still managed to catch the sunrise.
My overall rating of the experience: 4 out of 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The Shikotsu Toya National Park
Japan has finally open its door to tourists after a long 2 years pause of travelling. Japan is a place filled with historical rich culture and many natural volcanic lakes and hot pools.
One of which is the Shikotsu Toya National Park located at Minami Ward at Abuta district where firstly the admission is free. Secondly, there are many hiking trails also located in the vicinity of this national park just that you have to endure with the strong sulpuric smell of the volcanic smokes. There are more than over 20 over hiking trails here, so do remember to do your homework before coming here!

From Medan to Lake Toba by public transport
#celebratewithtrip
I took the local bus from Amplas bus terminal in Medan to Parapat. (Rp 60,000) If you are taking the bus from Kualanamu Airport to Medan city (Rp40,000), take note that the bus may not stop right at Amplas bus station. I had to ask the bus driver to stop in the middle of the road and walked 20 min to the bus terminal. I think the new bus terminal is still under construction as of September 2022. The current terminal is made up of a few pondoks (stalls). No facilities there.
It was a 4 hours ride from Medan to Parapat through winding and narrow roads especially towards the end of the ride. As my hotel was located along the main road, I asked the bus driver to drop me off at my hotel but unfortunately he dropped me at the wrong hotel so I had to walk around 2 km to my hotel. Luckily a kind local gave me a ride on his motorbike.
The view of Lake Toba along the road was amazing! However the road conditions were bad. There was literally no space for pedestrians to walk. I felt quite unsafe walking on the road as I had to walk very close to the edge to avoid being run over by passing vehicles and constantly keep a look out for vehicles behind me.
There were many stalls and small restaurants along the main road. Most of them offer a very nice view of Lake Toba and the prices were cheap. The lake view from my room in Gapura Hotel was superb too!

Heaven's Gate at Lempuyang Temple during sunrise was the best idea ever! Although, it is rainy season and there wasn't much of a sunrise, we were able to capture the view of the volcano in the background. The reflection from the photographer's mirror made the mountain look like a big blue and green globe. 💙
Our tour guide Roby suggested an early arrival and drove through one of the most dangerous roads in pitch black to get us there safely. Because of his direction, we were number 15 and waited only 15 minutes to take our photos. Each number represents a group and could take hours, but ours was fast and painless.
Our favorite view was looking towards heaven's gate away from the volcano because the clouds started to clear up and the sunrise looked like it could be seen from the top.

Lake Toba Samosir Island, a tranquil haven
I planned a last minute solo trip Lake Toba after I decided to call off the trip the Cambodia due to the current situation. I chose to fly from Kuala Lumpur to Medan as the flight ticket was the cheapest. Lake Toba caught my attention after a quick check on Google map. Isn't it the world's largest crater lake that I learned about in high school Geography?
Getting There -
Take the bus from Amplas bus terminal to Parapat. (Rp 60,000) Then take a ferry to Samosir Island from one of the few ferry terminals in Parapat. I took the ferry from Pelabuhan Ajibata to Tomok (Rp 12,000)
If you are taking the bus from Kualanamu Airport to Medan city (Rp40,000), take note that the bus may not stop right at Amplas bus station. I had to ask the bus driver to stop in the middle of the road and walked 20 min to the bus terminal. I think the new bus terminal is still under construction. The current terminal is made up of a few pondoks (stalls). No facilities there.
Attractions -
Check out the last two pictures. I happened to pass by what seemed like a tourist information centre when I took a walk through Tuk-Tuk area. The poster shows quite a lot of attractions in Lake Samosir and the neighbouring regions which I can't seem to find much information on Google. I picked a few attractions and toured around half the island on a motorbike. It's a pity that I can't ride a bike so I hired a local to take me on the bike tour for one day. (Rp500,000)
Attractions visited:
Huta Siallagan, Batu Kursi Raja Siallagan ( Stone Chair of King Siallagan )
Batu Passa and Liang Sipogu
Beaches which include Sigurgur, Parbaba Beach, Pasir Putih
Aek Rangat (supposed to have a hot spring but it was not open. The guide brought me to a small restaurant next to it which had a tiny pool with hotspring water)
Bukit Burung (It's a lookout point further up the hill from Aek Rangat which many locals not know about. Happened to chance upon it on Google map. Even my guide didn't know about it!! So it was quite an accomplishment to bring him to a place that he had never been!)
Lake Sidihoni
Danau Aek Natonang
Batu marhosa
Air Terjun Sigarattung (Sampuran Na Pitu)
Parhallow viewpoint and coffee shop
Hotels - Hotel Tuk-Tuk Timbul
Stayed two nights in a traditional room. No air-conditioning but Samosir is generally quite cool at night. Thought there would be lots of mosquitoes but luckily there were not. Overall it was a pleasant stay.
There were many hotels and homestay which seemed to be deserted. I guess the tourism in Samosir has not really fully recovered.
Shopping - There was a shopping streets in Tomok with hundreds of stalls selling similar souvenirs. business was not good as there were not many tourists so just beware of over desperate vendors pestering you to shop.

Hiking at National Park Iztatcihuatl
If youn enjoy hiking at a mid difficulty level try this National Park, located 2 hours away from the city of Puebla it features 2 amazing volcanoes located next to each other. In this case I'm on the top of Iztaccihuatl. "The sleeping lady" and the volcano in front of it is Popocateptl. However you should only hike on the Iztaccihuatl volcano due to the risky and active nature of Popocateptl, which on the contrary of the sleeping lady, is a very very veeeery active volcano, with constant explosions on a daily/weekly basis. Can exoerience the park camping as well or book a tour guide, not sure about hotels.
Max altitude was 5200 meters Reached 4650 on this hike without vertical equipment. #volcano #hiking #nature
