The first travel destination of the new year was... When it comes to breathtaking spots in Mie Prefecture, this is the place to go—"Yokoyama Observatory." Photos were taken at 6 AM and 3 PM on a weekday. On weekdays, there are fewer people, and at 6 AM, there were about six visitors 😊. In the afternoon, there were more cars, and the parking lot was almost full, so I thought there would be more people. However, there were hardly any visitors at this observatory, and it seemed like most people went to the observatory further ahead 😊 Lucky! From this observatory, you can enjoy a panoramic view of Ago Bay, with its 60 floating islands and peninsulas overlapping like layers. At an altitude of 140 meters, you can marvel at the stunning scenery of one of Japan's most famous ria coasts. The walking trails are well-maintained, making it perfect for hiking and trekking. I went to Oharaimachi (Okage Yokocho), a tourist spot located in front of Ise Grand Shrine in Ise, Mie Prefecture! Oharaimachi is an 800-meter street lined with shops, and it was fun just to browse! Here are some of my favorites and some recommended by my followers. 😸 ◾︎ Fukusuke, famous for its Ise udon. If you go early, you can try their handmade Ise udon! Unfortunately, we didn't make it in time and it was sold out, but if you've tried their handmade Ise udon, please let me know what you thought! 😋 ◾︎ Akafuku It's very famous and can be purchased at department stores, but at the main store, you can eat the handmade udon made by artisans. ✨ The winter-only "zenzai" (red bean paste) was also delicious. 👏 ◾︎ Iwato-ya Japanese confectionery shop. I bought a souvenir of "Iwato Mochi," a specialty made with freshly pounded rice cakes that's only available at this store! ◾︎Snoopyaki The Snoopyaki, which looks just like the sign in front of the store, are also great to eat fresh! ◾︎Starbucks I didn't notice it, but this Starbucks has a very rare "siren"-shaped onigawara tile.👏 I posted this photo to my story and a knowledgeable follower told me about it.🙌 ◾︎Sumikko Gurashi-do Next to the merchandise shop, there was also a place where you could buy takeout ningyo-yaki and other treats! ◾︎Grand Mercure Ise-Shima Resort & Spa The hotel I stayed at this time. Riding the sightseeing limited express train "Shimakaze" is an excellent way to explore Ise-Shima, Japan. The train operates daily (except on some weekdays), connecting Osaka Namba, Kyoto, Kintetsu Nagoya, and Kashikojima, traveling through blue coastlines and lush mountains with picturesque scenery along the way. #SummerThemePark I went to an amusement park with my kids during summer vacation. It was close by on a trip from the Kanto region, so I decided to give it a try. It was summer vacation, it was hot, and I wasn't sure where to go, but we decided to go anyway, and it was a great decision. They had indoor attractions, so we could enjoy them in the cool air, and even the more challenging outdoor attractions didn't have to wait, so it was very relaxing. The dancers in the parade were wonderful, and we enjoyed dancing along, so it felt very homey and fun. The building also had a European feel, making it perfect for a change of pace, and there was a water play area, so it was well thought out and I was very satisfied. I thought the price was a bit high, but the building and atmosphere were better than I expected, and it was empty, so it was worth it. I would definitely go again. The first is the various performances and parades, especially the parade held in the square at 12:45 every day, which is a must-see. The second is a leisurely stroll through the Spanish-style streets. The third is to enjoy the various amusement facilities, including the screaming facility PYRENEES with a maximum speed of 100KM, which is the world's largest hanging roller coaster. Take the limited express train from Osaka Namba for about 2 hours and 30 minutes and get off at Ugata Station. Then take a bus from Ugata Station and it will arrive in about 13 minutes. Spanish Village is not as famous as Tokyo Disneyland or Universal Studios Osaka, but it is well worth a day out.
