I literally shopped from open to close today. My feet are killing me, but I walked away with a massive haul! Billed as one of the largest in western Japan, this outlet is huge—walking the entire loop will definitely wear you out, so I highly recommend wearing your most comfortable shoes. The brand lineup is fantastic, featuring everything from international luxury labels to Japanese brands. I particularly recommend BEAMS and UNITED ARROWS; with seasonal sales offering up to 70% off, I scored some incredible finds! Sports brands like Nike and Adidas also draw the biggest crowds. Their running shoes and basic tees are so cheap you'll want to buy them all. The food court is much better than expected. I had Kobe beef teppanyaki for lunch, which was exceptionally high quality for an outlet. In the late afternoon, I took a break at TULLY'S, sipping coffee while enjoying the view—it was super relaxing. For dinner, I recommend Sushichu; the sushi is fresh, and the line isn't too long. I have to give a huge shoutout to the environment. The open-air, American West Coast-style architecture makes shopping feel completely stress-free. The walkways are incredibly spacious, making it a breeze to navigate with a stroller. The outdoor areas are lovely in the fall and winter, but you might want to bring a portable fan if you visit in the summer. A minor downside: It’s pretty far from the nearest train station. If you're coming from Kyoto or Osaka, you definitely need to take a direct highway bus (it takes about 50 minutes from the Hachijo Exit of Kyoto Station). Also, only a select few stores have dedicated tax-free counters for tourists, so be sure to ask before ringing up your purchases. Bottom line: If you're a fan of Japanese select shops or sports brands, it’s 100% worth a special trip. Just make sure to clear your schedule and spend the entire day here!

You can get here by train from Kyoto or Osaka and get off at JR Yasu or Omi-Takashima Station, then take a bus or taxi for a short distance. Upon entering the shrine grounds, you will find a path lined with large trees, light mist, and the sound of birds chirping all along the way, as if welcoming you into a sacred space. The highlight of Ryuo Shrine is the "sacred mountain water" that flows through the shrine all year round. It is believed to have the power of purification and blessing. People often scoop the water to wash their hands, face, or take it home to worship.
