Cyprus 4-Day Travel Guide
Venus stepped ashore here, and then the whole Mediterranean fell in love.
🛫 Day 1: Paphos, the birthplace of Aphrodite
🌅 Arrive in Paphos in the early morning and head straight to Petra tou Romiou (the Rock of Aphrodite). Waves crash against the giant sea rock, where legend says Venus was born from the foam. The early morning sees the fewest tourists, allowing you to enjoy this beach where beauty was born all to yourself. Pick up a pebble to take home; locals believe it will bring you love.
🍽️ Enjoy seafood at Paphos harbor at noon. Must-try dishes include octopus stewed in red wine and grilled sea bass, paired with a glass of local Commandaria (the world's oldest wine, dating back 5000 years).
🌊 In the afternoon, visit the Tombs of the Kings, a group of exquisitely carved crypts, some of which were once used as chapels by early Christians. In the evening, stroll through the Paphos Archaeological Park, where the Greek mythology mosaic floor of the House of Dionysus is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
🎭 Day 2: Kourion Theatre and Troodos
🌞 In the morning, drive 30 minutes to the Kourion Theatre, a Greek theater perched on a cliff. Sit on the 2,000-year-old stone steps overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. Below the theatre is the House of Eustolius, with its well-preserved mosaic floor. Continue along the way to the Temple of Apollo and Hyratis, the ancient Roman oracle's place.
🍽️ At noon, visit Omodos, a wine village in the Troodos Mountains. Centuries-old stone houses and alleyways are adorned with colorful flower baskets, and the Monastery of the Holy Cross in the village center houses a fragment of the True Cross. Lunch will be village stewed rabbit (Stifado) and grilled harumi cheese, paired with a glass of local Xynisteri white wine.
🌊 In the afternoon, visit the painted churches of Troodos. Byzantine frescoes are hidden in small chapels nestled deep in the mountains. The painted dome of the Cathedral of St. John in Nicosia represents the pinnacle of 17th-century Orthodox art.
🏛️ Day 3: Nicosia – The Last Berlin Wall
🌞In the morning, drive 1.5 hours to Nicosia, the last divided capital in the world. Cross the Leedela Street checkpoint; it's within walking distance of North and South Cyprus. Visit the Cyprus Museum to see the 9,000-year-old cruciform statue of the goddess. The Famagusta Gate is a remnant of the Venetian city walls.
🍽️For lunch, have souvlaki on Leedela Street in the Old Town and buy Turkish delight as souvenirs.
🌊In the afternoon, visit Hagia Sophia (now the Selimiye Mosque), a Gothic church with two minarets, a hybrid testament to history. Climb the city wall to see the "Green Line"—a buffer zone marked by the United Nations, where wild grass grows rampant among the abandoned buildings.
⛱️ Day 4: Ayia Napa – The Bluest Beach in the Mediterranean
🌞 In the morning, drive an hour to Ayia Napa. The Mediterranean Sea at Nissi Beach is a dazzling blue. The water is warm in June, and you can rent transparent kayaks to see schools of fish. The sea caves are Ayia Napa's most photogenic natural arches; try swimming in one!
🍽️ For lunch, enjoy a seafood platter (prawns, squid, and sea bass) at the Ayia Napa pier, paired with an ice-cold beer.
🌊 In the afternoon, head to Cape Greco. Hike for an hour on the cliffside trails of the national park; the wind is strong enough to blow your hat away. Greeks believe this is the cave of the "Ayia Napa Siren." The moment you jump into the water, it feels as refreshing as the first stirrings of love.

🍽️ Must-try list: Harumi cheese (eat hot after grilling), octopus stew with red wine, Stifado (rabbit stew), Commandaria (sweet wine), Turkish delight, Souvlaki (meat rolls)
💡 Tips: Best time to visit is April-June or September-October; the Aegean sun is intense, so use high SPF sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat; the light is most beautiful in the Paphos Archaeological Park at dusk; cover your shoulders and knees when entering churches; use Turkish Lira in northern Cyprus and Euros in southern Cyprus, exchange your currency before crossing the border.
🌟In Cyprus, Venus's footprints remain in the waves, the arrow slits of the Crusader castle still face the sun, and the green barbed wire separates Greece and Turkey, but cannot separate the aroma of the same Harumi cheese.
