About transportation: Kunming has an airport, so we can take a flight directly to Changshui Airport from where we come from. Kunming also has two train stations, Kunming South Station and Kunming Station. It's best to check the train schedules from our city before we leave to see which station we will arrive at. The transportation within Kunming city is also quite convenient. We can choose to take the subway or take a taxi or ride a shared bike. For attractions that are a bit further away, we can take the subway, or it's also very convenient to just scan and ride a shared bike. About accommodation: I suggest you can stay near Tangzixiang, Wuyi Road subway station, or Huan Cheng South Road subway station. First of all, Tangzixiang has direct access to the airport, and it is also close to Kunming Old Street and Nanping Street, where we can easily taste various delicacies. Wuyi Road subway station is the intersection of subway lines 3 and 5. There are many food streets nearby, such as Nanping Street, Jingguo Street, etc. Moreover, we can take line 3 or line 5 to the vicinity of Dianchi Lake, which is very convenient for travel and eating. A perfect park for a great day out with beautiful views overlooking the Dianchi Lake. There are great hiking paths that lead you through the beautiful forests and along temples in caves with spectacular viewpoints. The facilities are very good and you can also (depending on which ticket you buy) take the train and/or cable way. There are clear signs on where to go to and there are small restaurants as well. Xishan Scenic Area is located in Kunming, next to the Dianchi Lake. It’s a big park on the top of the mountain, with paths along the mountain slope, small caves and panoramic view points. There are 2 ways to go to the top of the mountain: bus and cable car. We used cable car because of the amazing view to the Dianchi Lake. Territory is green, air is fresh. Good place to spend a half of the day if you are in Kunming. #newyearadventure

Xishan Forest Park (Chinese: 西山森林公园) is a mountain forest park located on the western side of Dianchi Lake. It features several interesting attractions such as a stone forest, a cable chair ride across the park, several small temples dedicated to different aspects of life, an amazing walk carved through the side of the mountain and a large cable car which goes over Dianchi Lake to the other side. The route through the forest and then up and over the mountain, carving through the side of the mountain through several small small caves down to the cable car station. The small temples are active places of worship so you should be respectful and some dont allow the taking of photos. I think the highlight was the "Dragon Gate" a small gate next to one of the temples, there are statues here that you can touch for good luck, this gate can be seen on many pictures and souvenirs of Xishan park. #passionpassport

The scenic area is relatively large and peculiar tourist destination in Kunming. It is very suitable for a whole day travel. There's lots to play, I had so much fun. At first we took the bus, then gone up to the mountain by cable car, and walked our way down. The view you get from the top is just so stunning! Overlooking the whole Kunming will get you stunned. Although there was a lot of tourists it was still worth the walk up to this senior area overlooking kunming.The cable car up to the cliff face provides a great view of the city. Decent is easy after that. you can follow the stairs down and take a bus back to the start. Toilet facilities at the bottom and top but not really many on the walk up to the cable car. Take the subway to Western Hills Station, buy a green bus ticket to ride the cable car to the Dragon Gate. The Chinese believe that if you touch the dragon fruit and pass through this gate, you will have good luck and success in your career. The path is a bit steep, quite a long distance, not suitable for small children and the elderly. Along the way, there are shrines to worship. The air is very good. #travelinginchina Take Line 3 to Xishan Subway Station. Once out, you'll find Tea Horse Flower Street, a snack - filled place. There's a ticket booth at its entrance for the formal scenic spot. The walk to the scenic spot gate is about 5km, so it's far; better to take other transport. The bus stops at Nie Er's Tomb, which isn't very interesting. Just swipe your ticket and enter. On the left at the entrance, there's a 25 - yuan cable car up the mountain for those with low energy. I chose the battery - car road and after walking 1km, found a right - hand path leading to the small stone forest. A half - hour climb gets you to the cableway end. Left is Longmen, and I first went to Lingxu Pavilion. Right leads to the highest peak, which takes another half - hour to reach if you're physically fit. After reaching the top, return the same way and head to Longmen Scenic Area. Walk along the road, go down a middle cave, and keep going to Longmen. Took a taxi to the Kunming Tourist Cable Car entrance and bought a one-way Dianchi Cable Car ticket for 60 yuan per person. ① Took the enclosed cable car to the opposite side of Dianchi Lake. ② Bought a combo ticket for the Longmen Scenic Area entrance, uphill electric car, downhill one-way open cable car, and downhill bus for 77.5 yuan per person. ③ Then started the electric car ride for a few minutes. ④ Hiked to the Lingxu Pavilion for over two hours and enjoyed the view. ⑤ Descended to the Longmen Cable Car in half an hour, and took the cable car for about ten minutes. ⑥ Went down to visit Nie Er's Tomb. ⑦ Waited for the bus, which stopped twice in ten minutes before reaching the final destination. ⑧ After getting off, the road on the right led to the Western Hills Metro Station, and a few steps away were the Caiyun Flower Street and the Chamahua Street.
