After six days in Japan, it feels so good to land in Shanghai today! ✔️ Finally, I don't have to smile and nod to everyone, being overly polite to everyone . When I first arrived in Japan, I thought the Japanese were too polite, with a strong sense of service. After a few days, it felt too exhausting to keep up the act, constantly saying thank you so much, arigato... ✔️ Finally, I don't have to stay in a very small hotel anymore, though being poor is my problem~ ✔️ Finally, I don't have to hesitate to take a taxi; taxis here are really expensive. It cost nearly 500 RMB to take a taxi from Haneda Airport to the Akasaka hotel. However, Japan's subway and bus systems are very developed, and you can get to where you want to go using public transportation. ✔️ Finally, I can eat watermelon and other fruits in big bites. Fruits here are quite expensive, displayed very delicately, and taste very good. Back home, I will eat fruits to my heart's content. ✔️ Finally, I can walk on the street while drinking coffee and eating. In Japan, you don't see people eating on the streets, and even in shopping malls, you have to eat in designated areas. Once, we bought egg tarts and couldn't find a place to eat them all the way. We took them to a restaurant for lunch, thinking we could finally eat them, but the waiter told us we couldn't eat outside food. Of course, the service industry in Japan is really great, the restrooms are incredibly clean, everyone follows the rules, and everything is done with great care. It's worth coming to visit, to learn from their strengths and use them to our advantage. In the next few days after returning home, I will definitely go for some hot pot

Japan Travels: Sensō-ji, Asakusa Tokyo

One of the oldest Buddhist temple in Tokyo and a famous visiting spot for locals / tourists. It’s iconic for its huge lantern known as Kaminarimon at the front of the street entrance into the temple, it’s difficult not to miss it and also the three lanterns gate also known as Hozomon Gate after walking past the entrance. After passing through the gates, we walked into Nakamise-dori Street which is packed with local vendors for food, merchandises and traditional goods. It’s famous for its variety of snacks and we saw some stalls selling face masks. We walked around and further in, noticing a good spot where we can see the Tokyo Skytree tower. The Sensoji temple is located at the end of the long street path, we finally reached and witness its magnificent sight at its finest. The temple was beautiful and holy, we toss a coin and give our prayers. We also spotted a tall pagoda building at the side too. After visiting the temple sites, we walked to Denboin Garden where it’s located nearby the Sensoji temple. It’s a beautiful garden with a nice relaxing scenery to enjoy the mother nature of Japan. Senso-ji Temple is very popular among locals and tourists, one of the Tokyo’s best-visited attraction. You can also buy delicious Japanese street food in Senso-ji Temple. The deep fried mochi was really good! Super long queue but fast service. The architecture in the temple is very beautiful and serene, especially in autumn when the leaves of the trees turn red. I saw a few people dressed up in traditional Japanese costumes for a photoshoot. Remember to take a picture with the gigantic red lantern which can easily be seen once you enter the "Thunder Gate". It’s free entrance. You may spend 100 yen (S$1) for a fortune stick to see your luck in coming year. The surrounding small streets around Senso ji temple, Asakusa, Tokyo is filled with small restaurants and street food. The choices are truly mind boggling and everything looks delicious. It is very easy to spend half a day in this area visiting Senso ji temple; the Main Street with all the small souvenir and snack shops leading to the temple, and all the side streets around the temple with filled with restaurants, cafes, street food stores and small local shops. Don Quixote also has a store here where you can find all sorts of things from food, to cigarettes. Bring your passport to get duty free prices. The Asahi building is also nearby, as is Tokyo Skytree.

When you walk towards the temple, you will pass through many stores selling snacks and drinks. These stores are permanent and it is one of the attractions in Senso-ji. There are also many Sakura trees at this temple but you will need to come during the blooming months. The Sensoji Temple sees about 30 million annual visitors and dates all the way back to year 628. Despite its claim to antiquity, however, the structures that currently stand are relatively new reconstructions of previous edifices (during World War II, nearly the entire temple was razed). The Sensoji Temple is dedicated to Asakusa Kannon, the Buddhist god of mercy and happiness. According to legend, two fishermen struck gold and found a statue of the god while fishing on the Sumida River. The Sensoji shrine is dedicated to this lucky catch as well as features a small homage to the fisherman who caught the statue. Unfortunately, while here, you won't be able to see the actual statue. It is there, but it isn't on public display. It has never been. Either way, Buddhists and interested tourists alike flock to this attraction with the hopes that being in the presence of Kannon's healing powers will rub off on them. After you've properly toured Sensoji, take some time to check out the shops that line Nakamise Dori, which you'll find on the way to the temple. The Sensoji Temple is easily accessed via the Asakusa Station. One of my favorite sightseeing spot in Tokyo — Senso-ji Temple in Asakusa. The huge red lantern hanging from the Kaminarimon Gate on the right side has become the symbol of Asakusa itself! 🏮 When you pass through the Kaminarimon Gate in Asakusa, you’ll arrive at one of the oldest and most famous shopping districts in Japan — Nakamise Dori. It’s an ideal shopping spot for traditional gifts and snacks, and of course these cute strawberry ‘dango’ caught my attention! 🍓 Had to queue for half an hour for these cute cakes.
