The New Sarawak Museum is a new landmark of Kuching city and consists of two buildings namely the Borneo Cultures Museum and Annex Office Building. The Borneo Cultures Museum is a modern five-storey building with a distinctive architectural design that reflects Sarawak’s unique traditional crafts and rich cultural heritage. it located central of city central.
The new museum wants to become a lively place for social and cultural exchange. The auditorium and function rooms on level one will be able to host a wide range of events, and these programmes will turn the museum into a vibrant venue. Combination of few theme or concept collections into one building.

Stroll outside the visa-free Sarawak Museum old building
On the first day of the Dragon Year, I first visited the Borneo Cultures Museum (the new wing of the Sarawak Museum) in the rain. The old wing, which is just across the pedestrian overpass, opened in 1891. The white building has the style of Normandy row houses. It is said that the museum exhibits folklore, natural and geographical history, etc., and it only opens at 2:30 PM!? Fortunately, the rain just stopped, so I took a walk around the small botanical garden, the square, the heroes' monument... glancing around now and then. There's a bit of a European courtyard garden style, but it's a pity that I mostly couldn't understand the Malay text...

Sarawak Museum
#malaysiatripIt was a wonderful day in this museum that encapsulated the essence of Sarawak's history and culture while allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the experience. Very well-thought out and remarkably beautiful displays and infrastructure. It was a pity that some of the exhibits with interactive options were not available that day, but would definitely go back for another visit. The best RM20 I have ever spent 💖

Sarawak Museum
#malaysiatrip This museum was blown away by the quality and variety of exhibits on display. From the moment I walked in, I was transported to Sarawak local art, history, and culture, and was truly impressed by the attention to detail and thought that went into each and every exhibit.
One of the highlights of my visit was on the 3rd floor. The accompanying information and context provided by the museum really helped me understand and appreciate the piece on a deeper level.
The museum staff were also incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, making my visit even more enjoyable.
Overall, I had an incredible experience at Sarawak museum and would highly recommend a visit to anyone who loves art, history, and culture. Whether you're a seasoned museum-goer or a first-time visitor, there is something for everyone to enjoy and learn.

Sarawak State Museum - Kuching, Malaysia
Sarawak State Museum is the oldest in Borneo. This is a very attractive place for tourists. Many of them believe that this is the best museum in Kuching, not counting, of course, the cat museum. Its location is convenient, in the city center, you can easily get here on foot. The museum was founded at the end of the 19th century by Charles Brooke under the influence of the British naturalist Alfred Russel Wallace, who at that time was studying the Malay archipelago.
On the first floor there are stuffed animals. There are birds, cats, rodents and primates. The second floor contains ethnographic artifacts from the state's indigenous peoples, including a wide collection of traditional ceremonial masks from different tribes.
