[Oiwa Shrine/Ibaraki Prefecture] A shrine that enshrines 188 gods
Oiwa Shrine, located in Hitachi City, Ibaraki Prefecture
𓂃◌𓈒𓐍 𓂃◌𓈒𓐍𓂃◌𓈒𓐍𓂃
A shrine⛩ located at the foot of Mt. Oiwa, said to be the oldest sacred mountain in Hitachi Province
The deity enshrined is Kunitokotachi no Mikoto, and 188 other deities are enshrined on the entire mountain!
It is also known for having flourished as a place of prayer for successive lords of the Mito domain.
The story of Oiwa Shrine is that when an astronaut looked at the Earth from space, he saw a place where he saw a strong light, and when he investigated, he found that it was Oiwa Shrine.
When he went to the top⛰ of Mt. Oiwa, there was a stone pillar called the "pillar of light," and it was said to be shining.
It was seen at the time when the sun☀️ overlapped with the top of the pillar!
You can also see the Kanto Plain, and it's a wonderful view.
It's not too far to the peak, so even beginners can go.
And on the way to the peak is Kabire Shrine.
Surrounded by tall trees, it feels even more sacred. (The atmosphere is different!)
Also, within the grounds is the "Oiwayama's Three Cedars."
It is a prefecture-designated natural monument with an estimated age of over 500 years, and has been selected as one of the "100 Giants of the Forest."
It was a powerful sight to see it stretching high into the sky!
