We went to a hot spring inn in Awara Onsen, one of the most popular hot spring resorts in the Hokuriku region, where you can stay with your pet. This is a pet-first inn where pets are allowed in all areas of the building except for the large public bath. There are plenty of things to enjoy, including welcome treats for pets, a photo space, and indoor and outdoor dog runs. This hotel is located near the lake. It's about a 10-minute taxi ride from JR Awara Station. There's nothing around but the lake, and the hotel has a shop, but if you want something to drink or something, I recommend buying it at the station. There are two baths, and from both the large bath and the open-air bath you can slowly watch the lake as it sunset. I booked a room with a Western-style bed, but the Japanese-modern atmosphere was very nice. For breakfast and dinner, we had a course meal using local ingredients. There were many small children, so they were very considerate and made sure to welcome them. It's also recommended for families. I stayed overnight at Awara Onsen in Fukui. It felt old and there were some things that bothered me, but there were also some good points. The room was clean. I stayed in a Japanese-style room, but the futon was thin and I was bothered by the moldy smell on the way to the large bath. However, the staff was kind, the renovated areas were clean, and the food was delicious. Please note that the dining area was cold. Awara Onsen is located in Awara City, Fukui Prefecture. This time I stayed at a ryokan called Mimatsu. It has a large public bath that can accommodate school trip students, but also a luxury annex with an open-air bath in the room, so it has a wide range of baths. Although it is not a direct-flowing spring, I was able to enjoy the quality of Awara's spring water. There are also several grades of rice, but I had the best plan in the general building, and I was impressed by the quality of the snow crab. I stayed overnight in Awara Onsen. Awara Yunomachi Station on the Echizen Railway is closer to the hot spring town than JR Awara Onsen Station, and there is a free foot bath in front of the station. It was crab season, so I considered having meals at the inn, but I like to pop into a restaurant that has a firm grip on the stomachs of locals, so this time I stayed overnight without meals. I had dinner at Ajidokoro Hachihachi, an izakaya restaurant located in the middle of a rice field. It is a counter-style restaurant. I just told them that I wanted to leave the local recommended dishes and drinks to them, and they gave me an endless supply of delicious food. I am grateful that they gave me small amounts of various dishes so that I could enjoy them alone. The deep-fried dish made with gasu ebi shrimp, which is caught in the Hokuriku region, was amazingly delicious. Both the landlady and the owner were very kind, and I would like to go to Fukui again just for this place.
